Hey all, thank you for the continued feedback on this! (I've posted this line a few times today, so go ahead and roast me for the copy pasta...) We've been getting feedback on the absence of Factions/Faction Rallies since they went on hiatus last year. While I can't make any promises on if or when they'd return, I'd like to ask some questions here to help prioritize the feedback points that we've been collecting. 1. What are the aspects of Factions or Faction Rallies that you liked most? 2. What were features that you did not enjoy? 3. Have there been any other activities in Destiny or Destiny 2 that you thought Factions impacted in a good way? Ex: Lost Sector Grind - some people enjoyed it, while others really did not Thanks, -dmg

  • Can you at least add the faction ornaments in the new season ? You’ve added all the other ornaments but forgot those. Why? My OCD can’t take it I still use only faction gear but you all at bungie are making it tough

  • This is old and I'm late but I've recently returned to D2 from a long needed break. 1. Faction rewards, weapon, armor, ships, sparrows, shaders, emblems and the friendly competition and back'n forth banter between players. 2. There needed to be more than just Lost Sectors to do in order help rank up players. The D1 system that required you to wear/represent that faction with a Mark, Band or Hood while doing any activity help rank up that faction was a good system but it was removed in D2 for unknown reason. 3. By making the public event/patrols mission actually mean something rather than just doing it for the sake of maybe I'll get something out of doing this. Side note: The D1 faction system was much better in my opinion, as in, every time I ranked up with that specific faction my faction rank would go higher. My Titan was FWC and I was around level 75 but I was at least level 3 or higher with every faction which gave me the option to purchase from any of the vendors with gear I wanted. This was a good fair system and I was very disappointed when D2 released and this entire system was completely abandoned with nothing to replace it.

  • 1. FACTION EXOTICS! I cannot state how important those were and how revolutionary they were when they came around, we can gain a LIFE EXOTIC by repping a faction?? It was AMAZING! Make this something earned at rank 50 and starts a quest. 2. Destiny 1 factions system Keep it simple. Pledge to a faction, take part in activities, earn progress. Whether it be public events, patrols, raids, strikes, crucible; as long as you're pledged you should be getting reputation for the faction. No crazy armor we're FORCED to wear, just pledge to a faction and earn rewards. Wanna make it better and more intuitive? instead of forcing people to wear armor to earn more reputation, make it so the more people in your fireteam are IN your faction, the more the rewards will be. Aka the more people repping a faction the more the fireteam will earn. 3. Please do not include any weapon/gear rewards or that will engineer the community to force a certain faction to win Keep the rewards cosmetic and player-focused. No catalysts, no exotic weapons or gear other than the faction one. 4. Weekly and daily faction bounties that offer more rank than the usual grind, this would help a ton in keeping the playerbase engaged and giving us a reason to re-visit the vendors 5. Each faction should have a resource they desire to be turned in for reputation, In destiny 1 we had helium filaments for dead orbit, and so and so for the other factions. Pre-existing world resources could be turned into those factions as an alternate way to rank up/ gain loot. 6. More faction cosmetics. Shaders, ornaments, reskinned armor, ships, transmat effects, all are welcome, all are sought after. Some of us here are really passionate about our factions. I know I am. (Dead orbit gang wya). We love representing our factions any way we can and also looking dope at the same time (Osiris faction gear was the best with the ornaments, I'd LOVE to have it back. I'd do anything)

  • 1. Destiny 1 factions 2. Time gated faction progress and rewards (events are fine, just not as the only option) 3. Although I think all activities should earn rep, it would probably be beneficial to have certain activities grant more progress than others...a la Iron Banner bounties.

  • I know I’m a bit late to this party, but my love for the factions transcends any and all unspoken reply deadlines. Anyway... here’s my answers to your questions: 1. The rewards. Weapons, armor, shaders, etc. They were all wonderful and unique. Especially the shaders! I miss them and want them back so badly! If only I knew about having to keep them in my inventory/vault before a certain season. (I also liked how easy faction rallies were. It made it fun and fast to collect the rewards.) 2. Honestly, it’s been so long, I can’t remember what -if anything- was bad about faction rallies. I guess the fact that certain rewards were “held at ransom” by the determining factor of who wins the faction war. (It’s a miracle that I still have my Haunted Earth.) 3. I do think that faction rallies had a positive impact on activities. I found myself doing a LOT more things like Lost Sectors because of these rallies. That’s about it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back factions, faction rallies, and faction rewards for Shadowkeep and/or Year 3 of Destiny 2!

  • I liked D1 style pledging to a faction and working towards their rank through all activities I think it would be cool to have them all the time and then have a rally every once in awhile as a way to earn a special weapon or catalyst or something cool or unique. What I really don't care for is the fact that farming lost sectors is the most effective way to rank up during a rally and being capped at 20 packages only getting shaders after that point.

  • 1) Faction Rallies were good as a form for competition in D2 whilst in D1, I liked factions better because the system was a good way to earn extra gear in D1. 2) As a general statement for all vendors, i don't like having to earn tokens and planetary materials and have to go hand them in at the tower, patrol space etc.. I like being able to earn rep passively throughout the game. 3) Factions brought more attention to Lost Sectors in D2 although not in the right way i believe. Other than that the Factions benefited the community as a small way of banding together with the respective faction. Other Feedback: In D1, i really liked just being able to rank up vendors from factions, vanguard etc just casually. While the token system is good, i would like to see the old xp system for all factions and vendors back while still being able to turn in tokens and planetary materials as a boost that you can receive from boons. Personally, I would like to see Factions as a normal 24/7 vendor system while still retaining the Faction Rally system and rewards. A way I think you could implement Factions 24/7 while still having Faction Rally events is by having Faction Rallies as a more passive event. Each reset, every few resets or when a new season starts you could announce which faction has won the Rally within this time frame and give rewards like Ghosts, Ships, Sparrows, maybe Weapons and Armour to the Faction that has won. You could roll these rewards out throughout the season with each victory and introduce the rewards to the loot pool in later seasons.

  • Hi I wanted to give some feedback on the faction rally topic. 1: What did I like about Factions and the Rallies? In D1 I enjoyed having a second layer of armor and weapons I could passively farm. Kinda how today we passively get weapon parts for the gunsmith. It was nice to go to the different vendors and see what rolls they had this week because at some point, rotating random rolls were introduced. Always got me a excited. It was great. In D2, I enjoyed the Rally for being a competition within the community. Who can make which team win. It was fun. 2. The feature that I didn't enjoy was that the rallies eventually felt like they didn't matter. Besides some of the D2 year 1 design decisions aka no random rolls and armor being more of an aesthetic than anything else, grinding guns and later catalysts would feel pointless with the guns becoming a random reward anyway a month later or I just spent the glimmer. It lacked the feeling of a competition when it was ment to be just that. 3 Factions and Rallies in both games were of a huge benefit because as mentioned before, you would just passively aquire reputation/tokens just by playing the game as you would do. You didn't have to go out of your way to gain these faction rewards. You just play and you did get progress. In D2 you could activly go for it if you really ,really wanted to, allthough the most optimal thing usually became kinda boring. A suggestion on how to implement factions and rallies back into Destiny 2: 1. First of all make factions be availible once again for everyone 24/7. Let them sell guns with weekly rotating rolls, armor, perhaps mods and planetary materials in exchange for tokens. It worked in D1 and would immediatly make factions relevant again for every player. 2: Reward players with tokens that they can earn by literally doing anything in the game from opening up some chest in a patrol to doing a raid. Lets say you have to spend 50 tokens to earn 1 rank up. Introduce a sponsor-buff. Wear armor, weapons, shaders, emblems and anything else from the faction you're commited to and earn addition tokens in return. You get sponsored by them and in return you make them look good. Perhaps limit it to the faction rally week itself, but definitly have that in there. 3: Reintroduce faction rallies. Once a month rallies come back and people can spend the tokens that they've earned to the faction that they like. Bring back that feeling of competition that definitly did stir up the community every now and then. What should be the rewards? Simple: Weapons with curated rolls that can only be aquired from the factions rally, so no random drop or anything that you could earn at random if you're lucky. A handcrafted roll. Each rally, take one gun from each faction and introduce 2 curated rolls. One that is handcrafted for the PvE players and one that is handcrafted to intrigue the Crucible players with a PvP roll. Only winners get to use the weapons, losers have to hope for another faction rally to offer the guns and then win again. Would it take a lot of effort to make all these rewards be curated? Not really. A season last 3 months, so we get 3 rallies with 3 factions offering 3 weapons. That would be 9 weapons offered within a season with two curated rolls, so 18 curated rolls. It wouldn't be that much of an effort. 4: Give players commitement rewards. About every 50 rank ups, they should get a goody pack that is filled with materials, shards, enhancement cores and a fully masterworked item, in the similar fashion of how Heroic Menagerie grants fully masterworked gear that is not curated. Encourage commitement with such kinds of rewards. Boom , there you go. By offering curated rolls as the reward for the winning team, you have unique rewards availible that aren't as unique as lets say an exotic or a pinnacle weapon, yet could still give players a feeling of such kind. Curated rolls are exciting to get no matter what gun it is as they usually have a certain idea behind the design. Think back of the days of Trials of Osiris and The Nine. Well crafted curated rolls, not random, not exotic and somehow still interesting for players to get. Giving loyal and dedicated members of a faction curated rolls that technicly not everyone will get sure will stir up the competition, but it would give people bragging rights in the same way as some people can do with their Raid weapons or their Not Forgottens or the flawless weapons from Trials D1. People will care and it will be great. Everyone can participate, everyone can earn fancy rewards even if it isn't the winner gun and no one's time will be wasted. I hope this is getting seen. Thanks for taking your time to read all of this. :)

  • What I like most about the fractions that it was like a side mission that I didn't have to worry too much about cause it was always, now this is back in D1 tho, D2 on the other hand you had to rush to get it done cause it would only last a season or a week. Now I work 12 hour shifts and don't get much time to get on unless it's on my days off. I would really like that to come back and be just like D1 that way I continue my progress instead of losing and not get what I want from the fractions plus I would like to see the exotic class armor to come back as well with random rolls. And I it would be great if fractions could impact all activities or get pinnacle weapons that's base off each fraction.

Ex: Lost Sector Grind - some people enjoyed it, while others really did not Thanks, -dmg
1: I enjoy the new armour and weapons faction rallies provide. I enjoy the concept of doing things alone and not needing to form a fireteam to do nf or heroic Menagerie of a raid. 2: I do not enjoy waiting for public events. I do not enjoy fighting other guardians for drops or kills, like needing the killing blow on PE bosses or world bosses or any such thing. I do not enjoy needing to form fireteams to get this grind done. I REALLY do not enjoy gambit tasks, like killing an invader before he gets a kill or something weird. Killing X mobs or playing Y games in gambit is fine, as it progresses either way. 3: Let's face it, farming lost sectors for rallies consisted of finding the optimal one to run (Google) and then running that. There was never a reason to run more of them. That being said, don't go make it so you gotta run all lost sectors once for loot every day or something. How about just pledge to get a quest or a class item, and your experience gained while on the quest or class item is what drives your progress? It doesn't need to be insane, it needs to be so that you can get all the items if you put reasonable time in. And it needs to not be locked behind weird rng things like killing invaders or doing specific heroic public events, etc.

  • 1. I loved the whole competition idea where everyone picks their own side and you can get these semi exclusive armor sets or shaders. (The exclusive exotic catalysts per faction were even better because it really made you committed to your factions) 2. The reason people did lost sectors was because it was what gave the best reward in an amount of time. Imagine doing Leviathan prestige and getting 3 tokens per encounter and then doing 1 lost sector every 3 mins for the same reward. Renoun just made the problem worse by glorifying the original problem. Yes it did allow the mostly unused lost sectors to be fully realized but it just didn't feel like it was a good idea. 3. Gathering the community to do something other than whine about the meta was something that was magical. I've never played d1 and from what I've seen so far it looks like those were a little bit more solid than the ones we had but just the idea of it made people wanna get in there and make new monarchy win 4 times out of spite. Hopefully next time we can chillax with lost sectors though For the future, stuff like the iron banner quest would be fantastic where you can earn weapons from tokens and if you want armor you have to begin some kind of allegiance like quest in the name of your faction and to get armor and/or ornaments you can do very specific activities or actions in activities or mini events that are faction specific in different places to gear up. Emphasis on allegiance quest that was alot of fun doing missions and lore based stuff to get a better reputation (and could be amazing if recreated with faction lore based activities) Now that we have bounties there can be incentives to go do specific stuff for rewards or even group factions stuff like go do crucible with your new monarchy friends and fight dead orbit or dump on fwc kids in gambit. There are a ton of opportunities that can be taken to really rally up and I'm sure you guys can re-create that hype of refreshing various tracking websites to see who was leading, yall just need a solid step in a different direction than where we left off in warmind. PS the cap on 50 package openings was super dumb and once you got to the cap there was literally nothing to do please never ever do that again I put it here last because it really really was that bad

  • I'm seeing a couple other posts with super good ideas like specific activities that you can do with faction rallies where each rally is focused on specific loot sets like with iron banner, to get a sniper you can risk it with tokens and rng or you can wait until he sells it

  • 1. I love the concept of representing a "faction". With that said I think they should be like they were in D1 where you chose a faction and that was who you were with the entire game. I dont think factions should be a rally I believe that takes away from "factions'. Just let us pick one and continue to rank up on the fly. 2. Did not enjoy the type of grind in D2 (lost sectors and tokens). 3. I really miss my exotic dead orbit bond from D1. ps whatever happened to the other factions? (seven serephs and osiris)

Hated the lost sector farm. Made you feel like you couldn't do anything else that week. Not the type of competition I like. 4. Loved the ornaments, shaders and weapons. 5. Loved D1 quest for Eotic Class items.

  • 1. Like most ppl are saying here I'd love to see a return to D1 style faction rallies that included a rep system with the exotic class items where you gained the rep no matter what you were doing(tbh I'd like to see this return for all vendors) Overall FRs in destiny was mediocre compared to D1 - THE ORNAMENTS I really liked the ornaments system in year 1 and I would like to have it back (for the other vendors as well) however I would like to see it a bit more evolved. Something that's going to take some time but worth it. 2. LIMITED TIME EVENT. BOO. I think that if the FRs can't be reverted back to a D1 style then there is a few things I could suggest that would give players things to do and encourage more playtime. Starting with the FRs not really being a rally so to speak but ongoing competition that maybe once a month has a sort of rally type event that could award players of the winning faction some other way. -Secondly using the lost sectors was fine and a good way to incorporate an otherwise mostly looked over aspect of the game, however it could be expanded to task the player with other activities like strikes, crucible, the menagerie, the infinite forest, future content etc etc. All factions could have rotating daily and weekly bounties similar to the drifter or Werner that offered powerful rewards that would be from the Faction loot pool. I think those things would at least get Factions on the right track and would be enjoyed by the guardians who were into factions in D1. 3. See previous lol. Real talk I dont know what goes into game development or how hard or easy something is to do. But I will say the Bungie team has come a long way over the last year and it's looking better. I hope factions return and in a better state. If it's similar to how I stated, GREAT! If not I'm sure it will still be cool, you all know what your doing. Cheers! P.S. NERF DUST ROCKS:)

  • Personally i love the lore around the factions and what they represent. Also the shaders.. But to me as a pve player i loved them inD2 as an event that comes for the PvE players while Banner is PvP stuff. Id like to see my bro Arach Jallal be useful again. The weapons were generally good. I still have some cool memories of my Hung Jury

1: I love that the factions have their own spaces in the tower with people coming and going, making them feel like a real part of the world. I liked how, I think it was in D1, you could choose to put resources towards a package that would be guaranteed to contain specifically a weapon or specifically a piece of armor rather than it being fully up to RNG. I also really loved the exotic class items. 2: I really didn't like how arbitrary the faction rallies in D2 felt. The Lost Sector grind was fairly dull and felt completely disconnected from the setting, thematically speaking. 3: Can't think of anything at the moment. If faction rallies return I'd love to see 2 particular things. First, a reward system not entirely based on RNG. Maybe performing daily/weekly bounties rewards you with tokens you can trade in for randomly rolled instances of a desired piece of gear. E.g.: New Monarchy has a full set of armor, a hand cannon (I miss my Red Hand IX), a rocket launcher, and a pulse rifle. I can turn in tokens for a specific one of these of my choice (randomly rolled) rather than turning in tokens for a rank up which rewards a fully random piece of gear (like current IB, Vanguard, and Gunsmith). This would eliminate a huge amount of loot-based frustration. Second, tie the the factions into the lore so that performing tasks for them doesn't just feel like an arbitrary chore. Even just a couple or lore cards would go a long way. How is NM stepping up to help in the wake of the Red War? Maybe DO scout ships have spotted something on the moon and suddenly their efforts to leave the system en masse have reached a fever pitch. How has the FWC been dealing with the fact that the Red War blindsided them just as much as anyone else? Or did they predict it and nobody listened? Tell us what the factions are doing, how they fit into the setting, give the more RP/story driven players a reason to choose one faction over another besides gear selection.

  • 1) In D1, I liked that leveling factions gave you another avenue for resources in addition to strikes / raids / PvP offering weapons, armor, shaders, and vehicles that looked different from the other factions and let us change up our looks. And the occasional quest for stuff was fun, too. Having the rewards divided into the 3 types of packages was a very good call, it helped when I needed to focus on getting a specific slot. 2) I didn't enjoy the rallies, they felt like they were just a timed rush to finish something for loot. 3) Can't think of any atm. I would offer up this: Please have Factions as they were in Destiny 1: as a permanent and optional part of the chase for gear. I loved being able to log in, for minutes or hours when I could, and just grind rep for the factions at my pace, and collecting the packages when the levels completed. Rewards from the D1 factions (Vangaurd, NM/DO/FWC, etc), having a chance to be a single LL higher, felt like a great motivation while D2's setup of awarding engrams often felt like slamming into a brick wall, as the RNG would focus on a particular slot for months and be useless overall.

  • 1. I honestly don't remember how the faction rallies went since I'm terrible at remembering things and only remember farming lost sectors. I barely remember D1 and I played since the beta. BUT, what I will say is that I loved that the vendors had their own loot, though I'm pretty sure it was sort of just reskins, right? So that wasn't as cool. But still... 2. I didn't like how Faction Rallies felt. They just felt like something that didn't really make a difference or really impact anything in the game at all. I guess I wish that, if it stayed an event that came around only twice a month, it was somehow a bigger deal. I'm unsure how it could impact the game, but it'd be cool to see something happen with the winning faction maybe? I don't know. 3. Honestly, I didn't really have any cool or interesting ideas or opinions for the last two questions, but I think I have a somewhat interesting idea for this one. So, I personally think it would be cool if there were maybe certain Lost Sectors that you had to clear. As in a certain race of enemies were trying to steal supplies, so you had to maybe find Lost Sectors that had those enemies and you'd receive Faction Rally tokens for retrieving the supplies? I don't know. Another thing that might be cool could maybe be adventure style mission to retrieve stolen supplies or something? So it would be like a mini mission with a boss at the end. Or maybe even bosses like the ones you fight for that special Spider bounty each week? It'd make it a little more interesting. I think there just needs to be more to do. Actually, maybe not even more, just something different than the usual grind? I mean, I expect there to be a grind, but special activities specifically for Faction Rallies could be cool. If Faction Rallies come back, and I suppose this goes for everything in-game, I really would like to see new items, not just reskins. I know that's a lot of work though, so I'm cool with whatever. But seriously, I thought some of the armor was kind of cool, but the fact that the one armor for Titans was just a reskin of the EDZ armor made me not really wanna grind for it.

  • 1. I liked how factions in D1 were a permanent addition to the tower, had their own loot, xp for doing anything in the game. I liked being able to grind faction xp from doing anything and getting faction packages. I would grind for hours in patrol just doing that. I also liked how each faction had an exotic class item if you leveled them up enough. 2. I don't enjoy how the factions were used as a timed event in D2, it didn't make them feel meaningful or part of the destiny universe, it felt like a cheap ploy to try and engage players with re-skinned gear and pointless grind. 3. I don't think Factions in D2 have had any good impact at all, they don't feel like part of the world and should feel like they play a bigger part in the day to day of the tower and your chosen faction should feel like they have a relationship to your guardian. I honestly think factions shine in patrol, it makes sense that you would be doing tasks for your chosen faction while you are out and about. Patrol beacons could have had a bigger part to play as well • Make factions permanent, overarching xp (like leveling up and eververse), except you can get faction packages like in D1 for faction themed gear/cosmetics/bonus material packs or something • In addition, add daily/weekly faction bounties (like accepting jobs for your faction) • Patrol beacons have a chance to be from your faction, doing that patrol nets you extra faction xp or something.

  • 1. Best part was each faction having different loot, look, and view point. D1 factions were set up the best. "Why the change?" 2. Faction rally concept as a whole failed. Time gated event for lost sectors and tokens. No thanks. 3. Update factions to D1 standards and have rotating additional method of ranking up by using XP, planetary materials and bounties. Plus boons for additional XP. Bring back exotic class items. 4. While you work on that add a weapon to each vendor for sale. Miss running to the tower on Tuesday to see if there are any god rolls.

  • I really miss how they were like actual vendors and the grind for the really cool looking armor like how Lord Saladin has his thing, like even if faction rally rotated with iron banner that would be okay, but still let us be able to buy the weapons when the Rally's aren't going on so we can only gather the coins while they're going on and buy them anytime, I myself have played faction rallies in the first year of Destiny 2 I enjoyed them quite a bit, I would rather them be more like their Destiny 1 counterparts but otherwise I was 100% fine with them how they were in year one of D2

  • 1. Immersion... character individualization... identity (style). 2. Always hated each faction having its own rewards because it's not practical in this game. Have one set of rewards with an ornament of your faction so people can dedicate themselves to a faction without having to switch factions just to get a specific reward... it makes factions a meaningless gimmick. The thing I hated the most about factions (in D1 as well) is pledging to a faction I don't want to pledge to just to get a gun to stay competitive. 3. The Rune/Imperial boons for Menagerie is the place to start on this front. During faction Rallies, sell boons that increase faction credit drops for every activity... so nobody is forced to do any particular one thing. Possibly add the same mechanic as the Rose/Lumina quest as well, where the more people pledged to a faction in any event increases rewards or bounty progress.
