Auto Rifles are quite useless in the current sandbox, and need a buff to be able to compete against other weapons.

That's a really funny statement. This sentiment seems to be swirling around of late... the brainless will soon begin the refrain. Auto rifles are actually too good. They are an easy to use base weapon that competes with anything if you hit your crits. So all you kiddies who want it easy ... I hope they buff percision dmg and nerf body shots. That should just about fix everything!

For all those saying they’re fine you’re sadly mistaken. Go to destiny tracker type up the name of an auto rifle let’s see it’s footing in the crucible. The only one that will be somewhat up there would be the surous for catalyst completion only. They haven’t been in the top 10 since y1 season 1. They need a buff so do scouts

Is anyone else noticing that the ether doctor is doing less damage than usual? The last couple of days I struggle to even take down peoples armor. Before it was somewhat decent in 1v1s.

Dont get into 1v1 peek shooting matches - instead, change positions or tactically retreat. Rob your opponent of their cover, flank, spray, win. If your opponent stays out of cover for barely more than 1 sec, youll win the gunfight with determination, superior tracking, and primarily flinch. Auto rifles are best when teamshooting as they lay down a spray of bullets from range and you can wipe out 4-5 opponents before having to reload - double that if you have kill clip proced. Use the spray to cover your teams advance. I cant tell you how important supressive fire is when the only option to the fireteam is being exposed. If anyone walks out into your spray, guess what? Theyre .5 more seconds away from death. Count to .5 in your head just once. It's lightning fast.

If your have having a problem your skills obviously need improvement, also understand positioning and team shooting. (Side note 600rpm autos are the most lethal) Please don’t complain on the forums about your lack of skill thanks. Have a great day

Optimum ttk in autos is good. The difficulty is landing shots. Actually I think the problem is not that autos are bad, but their competition in pulses is too good. Pulses have longer range, more flinch, easier to land shots, and faster ttk.

Preach! I have a masterwork hazard of the cast with zen movement, high impact reserves, and a counterbalance mod. the perks on my current set of armor gives me unflinching kinetic and targeting. I have all of this support but yet it still sometimes takes a whole entire magazine just to kill one person!

Which is why I made a topic called Monte Carlo Will Suck. At this point these are cheap novelty weapons. It could be argued that they can be somewhat useful in PvP but you won't find sensible players using them in any PvE activity.

Only way auto rifles will perform better is by nerfing the range on all hand cannons, then bungie has to increase body shot damage for auto rifles to make them more forgiving. Auto rifles are not burst weapons like hand cannons, they require tracking and staying on target to perform, auto rifles also cant peek and shoot like hand cannons. Unfortunately the community is obsessed with hand cannons and will deny any nerfs to their hand cannons, they also hate other weapon archetypes doing better which is why you see some players saying scouts, bows, submachine guns (not recluse) and autos are fine.
