Destiny2 is sh- confused? Hungry?

Okay so. Win. 10 Intel i5 7600 3.5ghz 16GB ddr4 (forget brand) ASUS Strix z270e 1tb hd For some STRANGE REASON, Destiny 2 likes to eat my entire cpu. I was playing raids and different gamemodes and have always had frame issues in destiny / pc in general until I was recommenced to restart my pc entirely including re downloading windows. oh. my. god. Destiny 2 runs like butter now, **** yes. New issue (same issue as before, just now by itself and not accompanied with frame issues) - For some strange reason, it now, running at 100% cpu and 80% GPU causes discord issues. I can play the game fine and runs it amazingly but barely be able to communicate, whether talking to or listening to anyone. New day, new testing, with further help, managed to mess around with some very faulty settings (Depth of field, killer of components, turn that **** off), some other settings and my gpu usage dropped to a resonable 50ish%, but cpu usage still running at 100%, even in orbit. More settings changed, orbit % drops to 50-60ish%, and gpu to 30%. Keeping testing consistent, I load again into sirens watch on titan and speak / call / watch task manager to see percentages. 100% cpu, 60% gpu, voice communication BETTER but still inconsistent / broken. Now, before you ask - done every test, changed every setting, uninstalled every programme , formatted drives, defragged drives, benchmarked performance.. if you name a suggestion, I think its been tried. (Hopefully not, the point of making this post :') ) Anyone else experienced this? Any help? Any advice? Any solution? Really getting on my tits. Game is playable with good frames, supposedly 100% cpu usage is fine, including the clock speed as its got "Intels integrated turbo boost" < Not sure what this is, been told its a good thing / fine. (If you're gonna say "get a new cpu because its bottlenecking", I can't afford it.) // backstory, had similar issues with overwatch sometime last year and assumed it was a discord issue, spent time with them and found out the issue was unrelated to discord, so assumed blizzard app launcher, but found no fix / had no luck. Destiny is the only game I play on it now. Thanks for reading. Praying for a helpful solution / response.

  • This is normal behavior for destiny, it's a CPU heavy game due to the physics based rendering and network. Your quad core CPU is most likely getting filled with draw calls for the game. I had a i5 7400 (It fried last Thursday due to a faulty Mobo) with a gtx 1070 and everytime I got into a big fight or Gambit I could not use discord, the audio stopped. My solution was to limit my fps to 62, less draw calls, less CPU being used by D2. You can also enable game mode in Windows 10, it keeps some CPU reserved for other tasks, so discord will maybe run better.

If you have intel integrated boost feature i would make sure that you 100% have it turned on in your PC bios, especially after a factory reset of windows. From the picture you posted though, i would say that 80% is really not a bad number at all. I have an i5 9600k and it hovers between 70-90% mostly with no problems. What staggers me a little bit though is why your GPU usage is so low? Mine stays at 95-100% constantly, as long as it is correctly cooled it doesnt matter. You want your GPU to be taking as much of the load from the CPU as possible. Maybe your CPU is putting in some work where your GPU is failing to do so? The only thing i can think of from the top of my head that could be causing you problems is if your CPU is stepping up for your GPU. Either that or your whole system is getting hot or has been hot for very long periods before? If you have some kind of dashboard like Corsair iCUE to check temps that would be ideal Edit: I must've skipped over the part where you said your CPU is running at 100% even when you're in orbit... something is definitely very wrong. I'd look into ways of forcing your GPU into 100% useage to see if that takes some strain away. Off the top of my head, make sure your PC is not in any sort of low power mode (control panel, power options, high performance) and make sure you have your GPU set into either adaptive or prefer maximum performance on your nvidia dashboard, if you use nvidia i dont think you said. Make sure your GPU is adequately cooled if you're going to run it 100% all the time
