Nah. Being the hunter vanguard is code for "we don't want you out in the field anymore. Not only are you a danger to yourself, but to every guardian in a 2 mile radius." Most hunters are just left to themselves until their own "heroism" (read "stupidity") catches up with them alone. To be crowned Vanguard of the Hunters means you will heroically kill off far more allies than you are worth, so it's better to get you out of the field. On the Vanguard strike channels he is nothing but a distraction - imploring you to break protocol, focusing only on loot and cracking jokes that will pull your focus away.
Then Cayde went ahead and confirmed our theory when he was finally given a field mission. What was the first thing he did? Run far ahead of his fireteam and get wiped at the boss. The other 2 members of the fireteam had to rush to him alone, and risk a 14v1 for the clown.
He was never vanguard material. The only reason to have him in the shooting hall would be target practice.

Why do you seem genuinely salty about this
-
Zavala, we know this is you
-
Not how Hunter Vanguard works.
-
yep, he got ''wiped at the boss'', but before that he got more kills than those you get on patrol before the Cabal Dropball kills you.
-
Irrelevant. If you go into a strike as a team, you need to be working together. Especially when you are going in blind to the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy.

I'm sure you've read the lore. The reason why a hunter vanguard is so rare isn't because that said hunter is a danger to themselves, it's just hunters want to go out and do hunter things instead of being locked in the tower. Thus, the dare was put in place by the hunters to pick someone.
-
Yes, and the Hunters whose "Hunter things"/methods are a bigger danger to their fellow guardians and humanity than a help, are politely asked to take the dare.

Edited by AceOfRoyalSuites: 7/13/2019 8:36:05 AMCayde was the only thing in the franchise worth living for, sure cayde was sometimes a danger to others but it was variks who let the barons loose, so read up on your lore buddy and just look at titans, they are self righteous believing they are right all the time, pulling the "I must protect the city" crap when a guardian is murdered, let's say if your guardian is murdered instead of cayde, will people avenge you ?
-
And get led into a trap themselves? Why would I need avenging? I signed up for this gig, I know the risks. I would only expect others to get my killer as a part of their own duty to the city.

Someone get this boring Titan only main out of here

*Sad Titan noises*
