Forum Feedback

Hey all, Pinning this to the Destiny 2 forum, as I'm currently looking through some feedback on our forums and structure. I recently did a quick tweet asking players who may not visit the forums here on Bungie.net some questions, as I'd love to make this place more appealing for the broad community. Now, I'm looking for feedback from those who are on here more frequently, namely you! This isn't a question of what we can do better in terms of making in-game changes to Destiny 2. My goals here are to get some thoughts from you on the current state of our forums. If you could answer the following, it'd be much appreciated.
• What do you find most important to your browsing experience? • Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums, or more often browsing associated media/group messaging apps for information/discussion? (Think Twitter, Discord, Youtube, etc) • What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement?
• “We’re listening” Cut the crap, there has been tons of legit criticism AND feedback. Instead it’s labeled as toxic and dismissed. Then to see the same tired and canned response is insulting. The fans want what’s best for the game just as you do, but you seem to loose vision very quickly.

I browse the forms quite a bit and I engage with a lot of players on the forums. The issue is that there needs to be some sort of understanding that people need to stop coming in making disgruntled posts and actually alter their verbiage so they don't sound crazy. also a lot of people knew what they were talking about discussions would be way more civil. Perhaps moderators actually being referees with some of these inflammatory topics that people make can route a lot of the bad attitude. People can provide constructive criticism but they need to do it properly.

    • What do you find most important to your browsing experience? A hope that constructive criticism by this community could potentially help improve the future of your franchise, so that you may better build a product that is geared toward both our wants and your vision. • Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums, or more often browsing associated media/group messaging apps for information/discussion? (Think Twitter, Discord, Youtube, etc) I use this forum quite a bit for Destiny related stuff and never any other site. • What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement? I would like more people from Bungie to post more often, to have conversations with us more often. Hire more PR people. Look at Warframe, it's thrived for so long because it's team stays connected to it's fanbase and while they don't cater to their every whim they do however at least acknowledge that they've heard what people want and have considered it.

-(What do you find most important to your browsing experience?)- Where is Xur and what if anything I am missing or don't know about. -(Do you find yourself frequently engaging)- Only when I'm asking for something or supporting someone else who is asking for something and not being heard. -(What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement?)- Based on what I've seen, I don't think this is in the cards. These forums are many things, "welcoming" isn't one of them.

      • on the mobile side its not really straightforward when you want to create a post where its going. I guess I mean instead of being in Feedback and clicking new post, you click new post and its in a vacuum and you have to figure out where to put it. also trending is the default listing it seems and theres always a lot of off topic crap mixed in with legit stuff. thanks for being concerned enough to even ask, most places don't care about their forums at all it seems

Sometimes it's hard to find that so maybe the ones you reply to automatically go to top of trending maybe Until Tuesday? (or weekly reset) Also more acknowledgement of the feedback would be nice. Someway to tell if bungie has received the feedback. Maybe a message or a symbol by the post that tells us that the feedback was delivered to the team 2) I always look at these forums. Perhaps too much, mainly for the #Offtopic side of it though. I mainly browse the #D2 forums to see how the community is responding and the great ideas they present to you guys. 3) PLEASE OH PLEASE LET US UPLOAD OUR OWN IMAGES FOR PROFILE PICTURE!!! I understand that it's another thing to moderate but we have ninjas for a reason. Also make it easier to share pictures Thank you!

      • The forums need more options in the filter. Something like the Xbox LFG where you can put a #lumina for example. Being able to search #tags would make it a lot easier to find what you are looking for. It would be very helpful to have recent #tags, popular #tags etc.... I personally go to YouTube for most info in the game. I only come here to find what the next NERF/buff might be, or to see if something is getting fixed like how machine gun reserves got removed from bonds, marks and cloaks somehow. I also think if anyone continues to comment on another players thoughts, but reply’s with the same thing to each person every time needs stopped. Such as something to the effect of cabal on mars and taking out something or other is so annoying! They need a warning ⚠️ or time out of some kind. As far as community engagement: If you could have a section for Exotics, game modes, gameplay etc., where we could post our thoughts and hope they don’t just get tossed under the table that would be so awesome! A place we at least hope you might see it/respond. Below is unrelated but feel free to read it anyway. This is probably a long shot but do you have any plans to rework Sentry Armor for Gambit Prime? I know you can’t possibly respond to everyone so don’t feel you need to reply to this. Gambit is my favorite game mode but there is an armor set (Sentry) collecting dust in our vaults. I just want a reason to use it over the other 3 options. I put a link to my post above if you care to see it.

        • Active players should be the only players posting feedback. If you haven't played in a month yoy shouldn't be giving feedback.

In some places is very difficult to see, like in the time stamps of posts; - The Notifications tab need to have scroll and keep the ALL the unread notifications in highlight color AFTER we read the first one; - It would be useful to have a "Save this post" in the web version of the forum;

As an adult that typically avoids social media like the plague, I prefer organized and well laid out print sources; this way I can skim through the nonsense and get to exactly what I need to know. The app essentially runs like doo doo. I can open up a second screen on my phone to run another or browse webpages and this one still often hasn't loaded what I need. I understand there are network issues from time to time, but this is ridiculous when everything else is concurrently running fine. A plus would be to be able to pick up bounties through the app and/ or receive a next quest step without visiting "insert here" in person (if possible). Also, maybe a marketplace on here where you get items from the vendors for tokens, materials, etc.

(Think Twitter, Discord, Youtube, etc)
While it is good that information is posted on the other media outlets, there are times when passing along that same information here on the forums is either seen as an afterthought or some cases not all. Not everyone use these other outlets and may miss out on something. Even when that information is shared here, it is often buried deep as a reply instead of it being posted front and center.
• What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement?
Bring back the community and off-topic sections and get rid of the bloody requirement having to own Destiny 2 in order to post in non-Destiny related sections.

          •
What do you find most important to your browsing experience?
Most important thing for me is reading the posts of the highly intelligent people that sometimes post on here.
Do you find yourself frequently engaging with forums, or more often browsing associated media/group messaging apps for information/discussion? (Think Twitter, Discord, YouTube, etc)
I personally can't stand Twitter or other social media. Which is why I agree that its important to encourage a stronger community here.
What changes would you like to see that would make the Bungie.net forums a more welcoming place for community engagement?
I'm so glad yall asked this question and its the most important question. As someone that should probably not be on here as much as I am I often ask myself if there should be forum ranks like they have on other forums or some way to acknowledge people that post here a lot. But that would probably make newer people less likely to engage, so a good idea might to somehow allow people to have something similar to an emblem that they can choose that would show something that they are proud of having achieved in game. I know you said this should have nothing to do with anything in game but I think it would be cool to be able to link your accomplishments in some way. Even if its only being able to show that you are a Wayfarer or a Blacksmith or whatever. Its possible that it would bring more people into the conversation because there are some people on here that kind of dominate the forums and any argument is basically already won simply by showing up. If you could have an opinion and then have it tied to the fact that you have accomplished something that only a relative handful of people have accomplished then its automatic respect, even if you are new to the Bungie forum community.

I am a pirate with a wooden leg. - old

Idk where to post this, so I’ll post it here. You need to fix your report system on the forums. Too many times we have been harassed and attacked on bungie.net, and if we report it, 9 times out of 10, nothing happens. It gets to the point where I think that the people who process these reports only care if it matters to them. It is too often that threats are reported, and nothing happens. But then one of us says something that just happens to pisses you off, and we are getting warnings of restrictions and bans? How does that work? Shouldn’t you be looking at the real problems? Like the Cyber Terrorism? The fear that every time you are in comp, you could be booted offline? (I understand that this does not refer to the forums, it is still something bungie is ignoring.) And what about these paid carries? I have not seen any of them banned. These guys are making bank, and no one is stopping them. And they recognize this, so why should they stop? They don’t care. Don’t even get me started on how when you’re banned, no matter if you actually did something wrong or not, you are given absolutely no information why. This is like getting arrested by the police, and they don’t tell you what they are arresting you for. This, of course, being illegal, referring to arrest without reason. And I should clarify: Yes, nearly all of these people getting banned are in fact violating the ToS. And there’s that key word: Nearly. Some people, are just at the wrong place at the wrong time. I understand, I went on a rant here, and talked mainly about everything but the forums. But these are still problems you are ignoring. How long will it take bungie? What do you want from us? Are you keeping these people unbanned because you don’t care, or is there something more to it? What are you hiding? Rant over. I would love to hear your opinions on this. Of course, no one from bungie is going to respond. But what do you think of it?

            • 1. I find ease of use and categorisation of topics most important to my browsing experience. The reliability of the app has got so much better over the course of Destiny and that’s important. 2. I mainly use the app to engage with Destiny players but YouTube for information. 3. I think separating the chat room into categories could be beneficial. I know already there are tags etc but I think specific chat rooms for feedback, help, lore etc would be good. Sometimes the forum comes across so negative and I do understand that the overall unity isn’t like this and people just want to get there point across but I come on to help people if I can and I’d like to just filter for this.

            • I am on these forums daily and post topics or reply to topics almost daily. It’s hard to narrow to one item, but the most important thing to my browsing experience is seeing commonly shared feedback. I would like to see persistently harped on issues represented as pinned topics, a-la something like “Common community issues.” As opposed to having 700 threads about how Luna’s Howl was overpowered. I follow Bungie on forums daily as well as engaging with social media pages Bungie maintains, such as on Facebook. Some posts are just nonsense or bitterness and the community doesn’t want to see that or will just troll the poster. Maybe make it such that if a post accumulates too many negatives it is auto removed? There are many issues with that specific course of action, but this is a the thing I’d tackle.

            • Yeah I wouldn’t mind the ninjas being given a refresher course, some are too trigger happy and some have serious chips on their shoulders. Just because people have negative feedback doesn’t mean ninjas should be lurking in the shadows with the banhammer ready for the least excuse to silence critics. I’ve seen first hand where ninjas have blatantly banned people that were engaged in heated discussions. Now I get the person banned deserves it but I don’t understand how one person can be accountable for the entire situation. Ninjas should at least have the decency to explain a) the reason for the ban, b) the reason why the other party wasn’t banned if they were clearly as bad and c) the reason for the length of ban. I get some people can be seriously toxic and get too personal, which I admit I’ve done before and it’s not cool at all but there really needs to be fairer treatment on here for everyone. Just my main gripe on these forums since you are asking 🤷‍♂️
