The main reason the whole swap element thing was taken out was because of hardlight and borealis. Cant have exotics that mainly have the element swith going for them if regular legendaries can do the same.

  • i think it has more to do with the fact that they didnt want you running around with one weapon made 3 different times, one with each element. imagine having 3 trusts or luna's, one of each element, what reason would you have to use another hc?

Or they don't and players don't. I used the vendor Hung Jury for years after TTK dropped because it was a damn near perfect roll and Bungie never made any attempt to make anything better. If I could have the same badass weapon with all three burns, then that's what I'll do. If Bungie can't make new gear that is more appealing (or existing gear more appealing) then that's on them. Removing a player's choice doesn't make other gear sexier, it just makes the gear I already have more lame.

  • I dont disagree with you. I use the weapons i enjoy as well. I am just trying to see it from their perspective. although i do find it funny that they want us to use different weapons, but instead of making new interesting ones they copy,paste,repaint, and change the stats just enough to call it a different weapon.

Borealis and hard light are more than just their swap feature, so that argument is garbage, even back at the beginning of the game they were special cause they could do it at will , and without much care , as opposed to any other weapons at the time, sure you could swap elements on non exotics but that came with a hefty glimmer price tag and generally swapping meant losing the previous element mod unless you destroyed the weapon , all together that made swapping elements not a whimsical choice cause mods especially element mods were valuable, especially back when power+5 mods were a thing. I'll say it again, it was all to do with the level of effort Bungie wanted to put into remolding for weapon and armor systems not two exotic special weapons.

    I don't think everything should have the option to be able to switch element but I have noticed that a lot of the same element drops. The special slot it seems to be more solar and in heavy it seems to be more void. It's just something that I have noticed happening to me. Edit: Them 2 elements seem to be applied to exotics more than Arc.

  • Yep, and have you noticed that the only Solar heavy exotics, save for Two Tailed Fox, are tied to quests or raid RNG? Hmmmm.... Also, I believe there's a lot more intention behind this decision besides the whole "it makes Hardlight and Borealis more special" excuse. Think about this... I'm pretty much a PvE only player. As such, my selection of Solar HCs for example, isn't just limited, they're non-existent as far as Legendaries go. If I want to use a Solar HC, I have three options: 1.) Pull a Y1 version out of collections 2.) Give up my exotic for Sunshot 3.) Give in and go play modes I have no interest in because that's where Bungie [i]decided[/i] to put the [i]only[/i] Y2 Solar HCs.... In other words; Gambit for Trust and Crucible quest for LH. Seems legit, right? This is all intentionally designed to push us into every activity. The underlying motive? Control, plain and simple.
