Quick little comment - I don’t find it reasonable that a man who finds his parents’ murderer would believe him right off the bat.

Like I said. This dude was insane. Insane to the point where he would believe anything. -
And yet insane enough to plot against the President (I know it’s not actual, but Ring is the President in your world as well)? He’s clearly coherent enough to plan something, I don’t think he seems like the type to believe someone right off the bat. Of course, it could be part of his insanity, and I’m willing to overlook it for the story, but for future reference: Even mad characters have personality, moral compasses, etc. Their different specifics are just crazily skewed, to the point where no sane person outside of their mind can understand it. As a reader, we have a unique perspective into the mind of the mad character, but I would refrain from writing off different actions as just “Oh, he’s insane, he’s that insane.” It’s somewhat lazy, and doesn’t help to explain why he does something. Bottom line is, insane people can still think coherently. They still have reasons behind what they do, even if those reasons are beyond simplistic and basic, like “just for fun” or something.
