Menagerie is just Awesome ^_^
I cannot stop gushing over menagerie. It is a brilliant example of how to make a 6 player activity fun for solo players which has been the single greatest challenge destiny has faced since inception. To be able to play an activity with a complete bunch of randoms and still have so much fun is just awesome.
The activity achieves this in many brilliant ways:
1. Does not punish you for playing with un-coordinated teams.
2. Has raid-like encounters with easy to understand mechanics.
3. Helps you get the exact weapon/armor you want. (Chalice is just brilliant)
4. Filled with secrets.
Thank you Bungie & Vicarious Visions, y'all have crafted something truly special. I hope Menagerie becomes the new benchmark, the gold standard for 6-player match made activities going forward :)

For those asking for rune combinations, a fellow guardian’s work to help with that. This lets you emulate the chalice so you can choose a specific weapon/armor to know the exact rune combination you need to get it.
Quickest way to get imperials is to unlock power and efficiency 2. With this perk active there is a chance for imperials to drop from any playlist activity.
There are a number Of menagerie weapons from austringer, beloved to fixed odds each of them with the right rolls can be a beast.
A heads up to everyone trying to get to base light this season, the opening quest for menagerie is about half an hour long and gives you a complete set of 690 gear and weapons so it makes it a lot easier to get back into the game.

It’s pretty good. I hope there is actually a way to lose heroic menagerie though.

It's pretty damn fun. My only complaint is the lack of rewards. While it doesn't need powerful for every encounter maybe some runes. And a chance for powerful or a menagerie exclusive exotic.

Just hopped back into destiny last night and was a little thrown off by the changes with the tabs, and need to work on my level before I can actually get into it. Still have never gotten my third subclass orb thing from dreaming city even, simply because there’s no matchmaking and no one ever goes there anymore...and I don’t raid anymore (which I used to do often in d1). Anyway, a couple questions. What is the level requirements for this activity? And should I watch a video on some of the aspects, or can I go in blind? I use a mic when there are others on, is there a game chat option? I’ve only gotten the quest line and have been asked to go to titan (?), so it doesn’t show info on it yet. Any info would be great. Am really wanting more of this stuff, to bring me back. I love the game world and lore. But there just isn’t enough matchmade activities, primarily for low tier end game stuff. I get it with the raid, but really nothing else should be hindered by it. Thanks all! Edit: also, what is iron banners low end level at these days? Thanks again!

1 ReplyAgreed except for one thing... there needs to be consequences or rewards along the way to the final boss. Simply saving time by doing well in the first encounters isn’t enough reward to feel an accomplishment. Given everyone is leveling fast it is becoming a tad boring doing the first encounters with a known, guaranteed reward at the end.

4 RepliesIt's pretty fun, but i'm still trying to figure out it's biggest benefits. You get some powerful gear drops every week. If you have the right materials you can craft pretty much any gear from the game itself (assuming you haven't found it naturally already). Are there other benefits to it? It's fun to play, but I'm trying to figure how it's beneficial. I suppose maybe the drops will be better once the chalice is fully upgraded.

I agree. Best endgame content so far. I played so many raids in D1 that the time-sink caused me to stop playing destiny altogether until after forsaken. MORE matchmaking endgame PVE content!

6 RepliesRaids should be like this as well. Match-making raid: timed bosses with no punishment for team wipes or missed mechanics. Drops are raid armor only, with final chest a random weapon drop. Raid armor to drop with perks to help complete the fire-team raid. Fire-team raid: usual raid mechanics with random-rolled weapon drops only. Final boss has chance to drop raid exotic. This will give raid raid noobs a chance to learn the mechanics without any drama, get raid loot, and an incentive to join a fire team for the 'real' raid.

I really like Menagerie, the gameplay, the loot system, the lore, the aesthetic. It just sometimes i feel a little bit lost in the action and feel a little bit like the fifth wheel. But this is clearly good content. [b]I also would like to have a full sets of weapons.[/b] I really like the design of the Menagerie weapons, and not having more primaries is regrettable. I really would like to have an automatic rifle, an impulse...

Yes. More of these 6 man activities. Even if your entire team sucks, it's still fun and rewarding.

Menagerie has the attitude and scope of a raid, but the accessibility of a strike. I'm still down for races like Zero Hour and dungeons like Shattered Throne, but you gotta admit Menagerie is really popular especially considering all the great gear you can roll from it.

4 RepliesI'm gonna be the negative Nancy here. But I've kinda lost interest. The drop rates for "the good runes" has been so incredibly low for me. Right now I'm getting about 1 rune of desire out of every 50 or so runes

It's good for a few runs but still to easy and after a little bit becomes boring. The people comparing to a raid haven't done a raid or are plain dumb. Best thing about it is the chalice system, good weapons as well.

Not to mention it's a gateway to get into Raids for players who feel intimidated by them. The fact this activity also has full weapon/armor sets makes this a must do. I hope D3 has a similar activity based around each of the enemy factions.

I like it, but I can see it getting old pretty quick. I wish they'd do something so the entire thing changes weekly instead of just the boss.

Good to see some positive momentum. Of course, it's not going to please everyone, But it's something for people who do. I'd say it seems like it entertains enough people to call it worth merit. if you don't like it, please just avoid it and don't ruin it for people who do? This sounds like something I'd enjoy, but, I'll not be installing that stain of a blizzard launcher on my computer. The sooner it lands on steam, the better.
