All autos need a recoil decrease, IMO. They are point a squeeze (easy mode) so the damage output is fine but keeping on target is very hard and needs a bit of love. SMGs need to have a slight range decrease and autos need a slight range increase to keep them apart because they are essentially the same thing.
Every weapon in Destiny is point and squeeze. Handcannons are not any more difficult to use in pve nor is any other weapon. Autos just suck and that's why they feel difficult to use, but they also aren't easy because the game just doesn't work with them at all. Difficulty should never determine the power of weapons, ever.
