Destiny 1 Raid Mechanics were much more fun and less Mind boggling

i love some of the Raids in Destiny 2 , Last Wish, EOW, Spire was ok, but the mechanics for some of these raids was just mind boggling and if one person made the smallest error there is a high chance your team would wipe in Destiny 1 The raid mechanics were perfect not to dumb but not to complex it was somewhere in between i think raid mechanics should go back to that

  • Ive got two problems with d2 raids: 1) Every raid is far too complicated. If everyone on the team needs to be absolutely perfect, yes thats a challenge, but it isnt fun. Raids should be hard, but doable. Its already difficult finding a team thats okay with mistakes, but mixing that with raids where one tiny mistake from one dude makes you wipe is one biiiiig oof. 2) If i need a phone or computer or something other than the game to tell me what symbols are what, where the symbols go, or whatever charts are needed for certain encounters, i guarantee i will not like that encounter in the slightest. Theres a reason literally everyone wants to cheese Riven. (Its because its waaaaaaay too complicated for normal human beings) I get Bungie wants to challenge the streamers with their little race garbage, but i feel like they should focus more on making the raids really enjoyable and unique with cool environments and encounters instead of really complicated, mind boggling, boring garbage that just makes you wipe over and over and over again until you finally finish an encounter and you just feel happy its over. Maybe its just me though, idk.

      • Raids need seperate difficulties, so everyone can enjoy them no matter their handicap. You will be rewarded more for doing difficult stuff and less for less difficult stuff. Example: Flawless completion guarantees the Raid exotic, regular completion gives you a chance. The easier version gives you one single drop upon completion and it could be anything. Didnt people used to do drunk Raids back in the day? So much for that now.

        • CoS literally has 2 main mechanics: the curse, and crystals. And you learn these two at the first raid encounter but if you’re unable to learn these simple mechanics then that is in you. They aren’t complex at all you just have to watch the timer and switch when you need too. Also just shoot crystals? They’re literally just like oracles from D1 vog. Lastly raids are suppose to be a bit difficult and they’re suppose to have a learning curve. People don’t have an excuse for not knowing what to do (unless it’s your first time) because there’s raid guides. Y’all are jus unwilling to learn simple mechanics so you label them complex under the pretense of your laziness.

          • I’m tired of the buff/de buff mechanics. Do this. Do that. THEN you’ll be able to damage the boss. Why can’t we just have a raid where we go in balls out and destroy stuff?? I shouldn’t be doing stupid crap just to damage something anymore. I’ve taken down Crota, Atheon, Oryx, and Aksis!

            • Just need to get a team. You are basically saying the raids are too hard. The alternative is to make them mind numbingly boring, and then the game would just die.

              • I agree with you. When everything in the game is about abilities and weapons and your skill in using them, it makes zero sense that now you have to hold your breath while jumping on one leg and throw a ball in a hole. The raids have gone from a challenging, fun activity to a boring time waste. I literally hate them. Our raid team used to hammer out a VOG in under 40 minutes 3x every Tuesday. It took us a month to get that routine down but we had a blast. Now, I’d honestly rather run heroic adventures for two hours.

              • Probably a super unpopular opinion but I actually like the more complicated raids. I think a raid should be something you put aside 1-3 hours of your time for and shouldn't be able to complete first try unless you are extremely coordinated and skilled. They are meant to be the hardest activities in the game.

              • The mechanics of Eater and Scourge are good. The mechanics of Calus were fine too the rest of that raid is just abysmal. I genuinely hate the new raid. I think its terrible and the first encounter and boss phase 2 take way too long. I have 3 clears and the exotic sub, I may just be done with it after I get hunter arms to complete that set.

                I like mechanics in raids , but I feel like alot of the newer mechanics feel like busy work in between damage phases. Everyone having to cycle the course in CoS for example is annoying.

                • I'm not so sure myself. I really enjoyed a few of the newer raids and thought some of the D1 raids were pretty average. I think people look at D1 with rose tinted glasses and forget how awful it was at times.

                  • Um no I like how the raid is set up no one can get carried this way and makes sure everyone is working and doing there part not like SOTP where there is literally a position where you do nothing

                    • I’m find with the raids, However what is Bungie’s fascination with “BALL’s” , Why does Bungie want to continually force us to play with BALL’s. Please get creative and think of something original.

                        • I've never enjoyed when the most challenging content isn't about skill with gunplay or smart ability usage or placement. Instead, it has to be about convoluted symbols and strange things that don't enhance the challenge of the core gameplay. Then again, there are those who love it. I just know I didn't buy this game to play as a platforming codebreaker. More power to those who like it. I don't know, I miss being a raider sometimes, but dungeons are decent enough replacements for now.

                          • I think raids should continue to be complex, but Bungie should rely less on symbol memorization and more on dynamic changes in each phase of the raid. Like how in VoG you had to shoot more oracles each time.
