Enhancement Cores for infusion NOt fun i cant test out different builds force to stay with mismatching armor sets

i appreciate the daily bounties for enhancement cores but 1 core per bounty is not enough i feel if you are not going to remove cores from infusion have the daily give us 2 per bounty and weekly give us 7 cores like the clan weekly rewards it makes the game not fun when i have to keep rocking mismatching armor sets because i dont want to waste my cores on infusion if i am not max light yet just not a fun experience over all bungie you have the ability to fix this

  • Bungie will sadly never get rid of cores as part of infusion. They're so goddamn blind with stubbornness it still astounds me. Remove the -blam!-ing cores from infusion already. FFS.

    • After reading through most of the comments, I’ve realized most people on here are arseholes. Typically, the answer for “you don’t have enough enhancement cores” is one of three answers: 1) don’t spend them stupidly or only infuse what you need 2) you have access to 72+ a week, if you do daily bounties from spider and the gunsmith on 3 characters 3) manage your in game currency better My response to these answers is simple. Enhancement cores should be used to masterwork an item as originally designed. If this is a “looter shooter” then I should be able to use any weapon I wish without having to spend time every game session just getting cores to mix up my play style. To those who say use 3 characters, to get the max amount a week; congrats that you have the time to play that much. I don’t. Destiny is fun and enjoyable, but it is not worth playing repetitive content on all characters just to get cores.

      • E-Cores cause bad player mentality because they make players hoard them instead of using them for their intentional purposes. Some people may not have the time to invest to reach max power level for the season until mid-season, and by the time they are max power level, they won't even bother to use cores for masterworking. Why? The next season would be right around the corner already which also means another power level increase. There's nothing meaningful about keeping them in infusion. There was a thread on here that wanted cores gone from infusion because the poster was running very low on cores. They were trying to save cores but they had to use cores to do some infusion for a crown of sorrow raid, because their clan wanted them to for a particular strat. Some of the comments told them to stop infusing after small power level bumps or to wait until max power level, but failed to give any good reason on how the infusions made by the poster were not "meaningful". There are no introductions to cores in Destiny 2, and any new player who stumbles across the problem with cores for the first time will be left wondering. A new player who wants to infuse a blue into their graviton lance during the Red War campaign will find themselves wondering what the heck are enhancement cores.

I think I’m honestly in a place where it feels okay with the addition of Banshee bounties. And the bounties are quick and easy. Prior to this season I was constantly below having 10 cores just trying to either fill those last gaps in my slots to reach 700 on all of them or to level up all the weapons I wanted to use. Now Ive been managing to level things up as I go from time to time across multiple characters and I still have 30 cores. What I’ve struggled with is actually legendary shards, as a PvE player and someone without much time or friend availability to raid. I have to rely mostly on getting as many legendary drops as I can in a few hours a night just to scrap what I can. Because infusion eats up shards more than cores and Spider does too.

              • I still think they should add transmog for armor, even if you have to destroy the original to get the visual override. That would at least help with the mismatching armor until you hit max level, or find a set you like even more. I agree with you on infusion feeling wasted below max power, considering your next "powerful" drop could replace whatever you just infused.

I bet anyone defending Bungie on their stubbornness about this would feel mighty different if their stash was suddenly removed every season. I have over 300 cores and I still think it's a dumb idea for them to be part of infusion. Seriously, if this continues, I hope Bungie goes all out and removes everyone's core stash.

To clarify, this is a topic I made last season.
I have 14 legendary weapons at 700 and a couple left to infuse. 7 exotic weapons, a couple left again. 21 legendary armor pieces at 700, around 7-8 left to infuse. 5 exotic armors at 700, with 5 left. ON MY HUNTER ALONE. So just my Hunter, I’ve spent let’s see, 14X2= 28 cores on legendary weapons, 7X3= 21 cores on exotics so 49 cores on weapons alone. 21X2 for legendary armor is 42 cores for armor, and 5X3 for Exotics is 15, so 57 cores on armor. I’ve used 106 cores already. To infuse each piece ONCE up to 700. Sure there’s outliers like same gear piece costing zero cores and infusing exotics into gear costs one Core, but we’re still looking at around 100 cores spent already. On my Hunter alone. Take a look at my characters inventories. I’ve made them public for this. I have over 1,800 hours in Destiny 2. I beg you to tell me what I’m doing wrong, and how Bungie’s game design is perfectly sound. There are many players who are minimalists. Using the same weapons and armor for mostly everything in Destiny is their thing, these are the people with 15,000 kills on their Midnight Coup. I. don’t. do. that. I have multiple weapons that I like using in multiple game types and the thing they all have in common is that I like them at max. Yes, MAX LIGHT. Because a common rebuttal is “just use them without infusing because light doesn’t matter in most activities 4head” Except that it does. One major thing that Bungie has cultivated since Destiny 1 is the pure feeling of being max light with a loadout of gear you like. Bungie has always stated that they want max light to be an impressive feat, and they describe Destiny as a LOOTER SHOOTER suggesting that you should grind for gear you want but people like me find themselves being forced to choose between a.) being max light or b.) using gear I like. Which is terrible design to a looter shooter. The last big flaw is the fact that a basic tool, infusion, is requiring a resource material that is NOT tied to gametime and progression, but rather specific activities and RNG. I could play every day (already do) and end up with less cores than a guy who gets on only to do Spider bounties for an hour a day. I might have more FUN, but he has more cores. The required activities and farm methods for cores disrupt gameplay and turn player attention away from the actual GOOD POINTS of Destiny and direct them to boring, needlessly grindy trash. Horrendous economy design that forces players to choose between one looter shooter aspect or the other. Max level or awesome loadouts. Not both.
Bungie fanboys saying we don't want those people anyway! Bungie shit we cannot afford to keep the doors open with our current low population so we are closing the game down! Bungie fanboys Bungie why didn't you remove cores and do things to keep new players!

                      • Cores? That's easy. 5 from Banshee, 6 from Spider Bounties, 2-3 per day bought with shards. Now glimmer... that's a different story. Those barge chests are killing me. I've got the cores, but not the glimmer to infuse.

                          • Have you actually done the bounties though? If you're going slow you can get 9 cores in about 10 minutes. Plenty of opportunities for different builds. If you know how to play the game

                          • Agreed that they are not fun. It's quite clear that cores are meant for end game purpose, the masterworking of items. Infusion of items is you power level progression system. You can not tie an end game currency to a power level system. I can't think of a single game where this kind of system is implemented. We can clearly see that the community is divided. There are players who don't mind/care and those who are hindered in their progression throughout the game. I find myself in the latter of those 2. For the players who are saying they are fine in infusion: You can dedicate more time to the game and actively play 3 characters to farm them. Great, you enjoy your free time how you see fit and your life allows for this. I don't mean this in a degrading way what so ever. Or you have insane RNG luck and get cores from dismantling like crazy leaving you in great numbers of them. Your enjoyment of the game is not hindered by them nor would it actually change your gaming experience if they were removed. But I do believe you're part of the minority of the player base. The vast majority doesn't seem to either dedicate more time to the game because their life doesn't allow for more play time or have bad RNG and need to rely on bounties. I only have time for 1 character, not 3. Getting armor with the right perks for different loadouts is hard enough with the RNG in this game, especially for enhanced perks and taking into account the asthetics of your character. From the top of my head I can think of 5 play styles which fit me or are more efficient in certain activities. Levelling those builds up with this infusion system is pretty shit. And you kind of rely on infusion since getting a higher power drop with the exact same stats is straight up to RNG. Even with only infusing something when the difference is around 20 levels leaves me dried up for cores if I decided to level up several build loadouts. In short: removing them benefits the struggling players and won't change anything for the player who is not hindered either way if they are in or out. I think it would be wise if Bungie would remove them so the vast majority has a better experience playing this game. We all know that numbers have dropped. If this game keeps bleeding out, then good luck with the matchmaking part for end game content and PVP (which is already in a bad state).

"Why aren't you using Lunifaction boots?" cause they are only 700 light. "Well infuse them up, we need you to use them for boss damage." I'm trying to save my cores bro, I don't have that much left. "Jesus christ man, just do it." *Infuses boots to 730*. 10 minutes later. "Alright, everyone use Outbreak for the boss." My outbreak is only 705. I'm using Mountain Top. "No, infuse outbreak. Everyone needs to use it." Bruuuh!!! I only have like 4 cores left. "Everyone has to use Outbreak for this strat to work" FFS Bruh True story

                                • I agree that the enhancement cores for infusion system sucks. I am happy though with the new bounties. They are pretty easy to complete. Some can be done at the same time (get solar kills, get scout rifle kills. just use a solar scout rifle). Buy 1 from the spider for 10 legendary shards. I only play 1 character. It's prett easy to get 4 enhancement cores per day that way. And you also gain them a lot from dismantling legendaries. Anyway. It is a lot better this seasons than the previous seasons. Even though I prefer no enhancement cores for infusion. ;)

I hate to be the person on the other side, but I've masterworked all sorts since the change and infused a bunch of gear and still have 20/30 in my stash.

What gets on my nerves with people saying “just wait until you are max light and then infuse” is, what is the point of investing into the armor and weapons you like with the right perks if, every time max light gets raised, you have to spend another month or two wearing and using whatever random crap you get from milestones? Wearing random junk is what you do when leveling up a new character, not a cycle you repeat every new DLC.
