If micro-transactions are sticking around then Bungie moving from Loot Boxes to Direct Purchase Items is good news and the right direction for the game.
BUT
This also means there needs to be a fundamental change in what constitutes a micro-transaction.
There is no longer a need to flood Tess with so many legendary items that devalue cosmetic rewards.
It is time to remove ALL LEGENDARY SHIPS, SPARROWS, GHOSTS and ARMOR sets from TESS. These all belong as in game rewards. Add them to strike drops, crucible drops, world drops and gambit drops. We are in desperate need of more armor set refreshes per season. Get them out of Eververse.
Items better suited for Tess are EMOTES, and ORNAMENTS, TRANS-MAT EFFECTS, GHOST PROJECTIONS, and a very small number of exotic Ships, Sparrows and Ghosts. Bungie can have fun with these, wacky creations that fans will consider paying for directly.
It's ok for Bungie to use Tess to sell a small number of desirable cosmetics, and generate additional revenue, if we see more loot returned to the game.

I honestly would not have a problem with Tess if D2 with a F2P title. If Digital Extremes can not only fund an operation of 180+ employees, but also turn a profit, from a single F2P game (Warframe), then there is no reason Bungie could not start down that road as well. Especially considering Bungie does not drop content at nearly the frequency of DE.
