Icebreaker in D1 clearly demonstrated why infinite ammo was problematic. With the Whisper in D2 it seems as though the devs believed that raising the bar to ‘infinite ammo, but only through skilled use’ would be a workable solution, but given the design decisions cited in the video they ended up turning the weapon into one that is primarily used in low risk situations, thus negating the ‘skilled use’ caveat. And full super bar regen from exotic armors should never have been a thing to begin with. It should have been capped at somewhere between 25 and 35% from the day the armors were introduced. If you want a crazy power fantasy where you can stomp all over everything in the game regardless of skill level, go play a single-player offline game. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

  • But why should it matter in pve? If it is other players who you will never interact with using these loadouts why do you care? You can restrict your own fireteam to make it more challenging

  • Because if you want hard and challenging content, you can't have a weapon negate that difficulty by bruteforcing damage (worlds 1st SOTP comes to mind). It's because of this that we are getting these nerfs. Either you balance the weapon around the encounters you want to make, or balance the encounters around a specific weapon/ability (look at reckoning and it's reliance on well/bubble, tether and skull Nova, or at insurrection prime with it's insane amount of health to negate shotgun strategy). It's a necessary evil to have challenging content so as it doesn't get stale after the first 3 runs once you get everything

  • Whisper has never been a do it all weapon. It's not practical. In fact, I only used it for a couple of places in the game. Now that there is no reason for white nail because of rifts/barricades, no one will use it.

  • We can agree on that. A really popular idea was to have og white nail, but only if you are out of reserves. That way, if you are good enough, you are rewarded

  • It is fun to throw constant nova bombs but I agree. Maybe up it to 40 or 50% super back though.
