Someone could do a Doctoral thesis on what happens when little Baby Gamers grow up without ever setting foot outside and playing real team sports in the real world and learning abstract principles such as: Fair play Fair go Fair trade Fair Compensation Fair Consequences They end up being adults with the emotional maturity of 7 year old entitled snowflakes having no idea that their distorted world-view has nothing whatsoever to do with the real world - or common sense. Somebody came up with the idea for Exotic weapons and their unique perks; perhaps someone else came up with the [often] ludicrous multi-step quests; perhaps someone else in R&D figured out damage output, etc.; someone else 'tested' it and our New! Shiny! Improved! Super Mario brothers Ferrari/Lamborghini/Bughatti Über weapon is ready for us 'consumers' to chase after. And then [perhaps] an entirely different team of clueless code monkeys treat all our effort and time spent acquiring said Über weapon by unilaterally deciding that it is too OP and must be nerfed by using pretzel logic comprised of nonsensical word salads. (If that were true, how did it get into 'production'?) E.g., "we have decided your Ferrari is too fun/cool/powerful/fast and so we're disabling 3 engine cylinders so that you will burn 3x the petrol as you race against Toyota Corollas at Le Mans." No refunds. On the other hand, it seems obvious that the corporate structure of Bungie has created a civil war against itself between brilliant 'developers' who have created some amazing imaginary worlds and clueless code monkeys that have no idea what 'Indian giver' means - and no, that's not a racist taunt, but a historical reference to white Americans promising something to the Natives, but taking it away soon thereafter. It would seem that the code monkeys are winning - no doubt because they have been Loyalists the longest and have long since been promoted far, far above their level of competence.
