Question about Void Light
Hi all,
I got a question about Void energy (and maybe the other elements aswell).
In the strike savathun's song, it is said that only guardian can wield void light and that is the reason why they are harvesting guardians, as crystals, so they can use it.
My question is: How can the enemy races have void weapons/shields? Like the shriekers, or the cabal enemies (forgot the name) with the void shields.
Maybe i'm missing something really obvious but it's a question that keeps popping up in my head the past 3 days.

It may be that the void and those shields share the same frequency so that a bullet (or whatever you happen to be shooting at them with) can pass more easily through. Kind of like how a magnetically contained energy weapon would work.

I don’t think the shields are exactly cannon, but more just a gameplay mechanic.

Did we not have this exact same question a couple weeks ago from someone else? Void LIGHT can only be made by Guardians since it’s Void LIGHT and only Guardians can create Light. The VOID PROPER is used by many of our enemies

destiny 2 strikes have a lot of inconsistencies with dialogue that directly contradicts established destiny canon. u have just run into some of that

Same thing with Arc and Solar. Obviously Arc is Light that acts and looks just like electricity/lightning. And Solar Light is obviously fire with some slight attention to a sun aesthetic. Same thing with Void. though Void Light is more complicated, it revolves around black holes, gravity, slow certain death and near invisible ties. So with Void weaponry, it's not really Void Light, its more technology developed similar to our Void Light. It's no secret that the Hive/Taken utilize Void best due to their "magic" which has themes consistent with death and darkness. As such, the closest thing to it would be Void Light as part of our triple cycle of elements.

1 ReplyArchival Mind and Superspartan are correct. There’s Void, Arc, and Solar energy. These can be used in technology/weaponry (like the weapons all the races in the game use), or with the Light (Guardians) or Darkness (Hive). Also, to correct a few people, there is no confirmation that the Void has anything to do with gravity. So far, the Void can best be compared to raw energy (and fire and explosions), but purple because space wizards like to party.

I believe it's called Void light because the energy is from Guardians who are powered by light. (Correct me if I'm wrong) but our powers are light based and regardless of energy types, it's still based on light energy.

The strike dialogue says it can only be CREATED by Guardians.

3 Replies<Void LIGHT isn't Void ENERGY, it's a warped version of it. Similar to how Taken and Hive are so far the only ones who can make Void Darkness, we're the only ones with Void Light.>

Enemies can harness void, arc, and solar energy but they cannot harness void, arc, and solar Light.

2 Replies[void weapons are powered by void energy, not void light. Same with hostile elemental shields. Not void light, but void energy. Subtle differences that matter.]

It's Void but harnessed by the Light.
