Ok folks, let's all just take a breath. HoTh does have a good point, this can lead to a bit of a forum war and it could create tensions.
Let us not attack HoTh, but think about the point he is trying to accomplish. Why not take the idea and refine it, see if we can come up with a more workable idea that might make folks happy. Not everyone will, but then again, the whole point of a forum is to talk and we can do that, exchange some ideas and either make workable version or realize that there is no chance it will happen.

Yeah, I personally don’t like the idea and don’t think it can be refined but I argued my point above (or below) peacefully and with a message at the end in which I stated I would want more of these types of poll discussion topics...
perhaps you could join the void...
That is all that matters Hoss!

@thepurge. If we make ourselves a pain again, we will be blasted
-
Very true
-
I agree that it can be rude to roleplay on a post about everyone's favorite hamburger, but I don't think we need regulations for it. People are free to say what they want to say, I say
-
I don't disagree there, but HoTh is right in that this can produce conflict. freedom isn't free and we honestly have zero freedom here, which is something that a lot of the younger members don't understand. We are here at the tolerance and grace of bungie And the moment we become to unruly to handle or a liability, they will get rid of us faster than a fat man will devour barbecue.
-
Very true indeed. Personally though I haven't seen anyone make a big deal or get annoyed by roleplay in a post until HoTh got aggravated at me today. Because of that I don't really see the problem in the forums that he does.
-
There are a number of complaints, but if you are part of the popular crowd, then you get shut down and treated like shit, so most folks will say anything not popular in PM, unless they are part of the I don't give a -blam!- crowd. I mean, just look at the onslaught of hate that hoth is getting for this. If it was you, toaster or Lee, people would be polite and be considering it, not immediately need jerk reacting and shooting it down. People here want the approval of the "cool kids" And as such, they jump on whatever bandwagon the cool kids say. When cell was at the height of his popularity, We had a huge upswing and positive post and people being nice to each other, because that is what cell was about. When we have a negative user or a reactionary user like toaster we get more of those types of replies.
-
Have you considered why people like and/or agree with Lee, Ring and me?
-
Toaster, in the time you have known me, have I ever struck you as the type to not think of things? Ya'll are the flavor of the month right now and those who want to be cool, they will side with you no matter what. The same thing happened when I was the flavor, when HoTh was the flavor, Cell, Doob, Peaches, ECCHO, etc, etc, etc.
-
Well, the flavor changes as the users change. If popular people post different things or stops posting as much then of course they won't be the "flavor of the month." You must also consider that new user come in and don't know of older users and what they used to post.
-
I have considered that. Hence me saying the word "some".
-
That is very important to think for oneself and not what the crowd says and I encourage others to follow that advice. For my part I believe I am being civil, but I feel that his way of trying to change the forum rules is not fair. I said
LIBERTY PRIME ONLINE
On the weekly Hydra post and he told me it was a no roleplay zone. I said it was no big deal and tried to diffuse and right after I did so I looked and saw this poll.
-
Hoss, no worries, I am not saying you are being anything less then civil, but you need to shift your perspective, he is not trying to change the rules, he is trying to make it fun for everyone. We all know that users are going to go where they want and do what they want, but when you go onto a satire post with a satire tag and take it seriously, folks point it out and you feel stupid. The same could be applied to any crusty bottom that -blam!- on an RP tagged post. The thing is, I am not saying HoTh handled his end correctly in his interaction with you, but what you say is where your story with HoTh began and ended, but not where his story with this situation began and ended, so what pushed him enough to either be angsty or to sound angsty?
-
I don't know what would have caused him to be angsty honestly. I try to enter into conversation with him in his posts and that usually doesn't take off. I've never actually started an argument with him except during that Toaster court case. Other than that he keeps going to my response and arguing with me. This time he just took it to a poll for some reason. I totally agree people need to control their role-playing, I just don't think they should be told how to
-
Yet no one offered any ideas or suggestions, they just nay-sayed it and said, "No, this won't work." Did you make any counter suggestions that I missed? As to his angsty-ness, that is not on you, but on him. He had something going on that you did not see and you caught the backlash, which is why I said that your part of the story started and ended with your interaction, but his started before you and ended after you. It is just coincidence that you saw his poll after your altercation.
-
and like i said. if this bill is passed i would have been wrong to do that.
-
Yes, very true.
-
It doesn't set a very good precedent that the post that you made stimming off that conversation is already a violation. The fact of the matter is if you don't like it, ignore, ask them to stop, or mute them. I don't rp on other topics, most of us already sanction ourselves
-
I think it sets the best precedent. He calls himself out as wrong and proposes a higher standard of behavior for everyone
-
1. I'm halfway certain you're an alt of his since you only appear when he's on or he's banned and you and one other are always the first to Bump him 2. Yes, but I'd have appreciated him admitting he was wrong before he needed to use it in a debate. But I do appreciate him admitting he was wrong.
-
I am one of his longest-standing IRL friends, so of course, I bump him first because he DM's me the links. we also have pretty much the same schedule, and he is in French class taking his final right now.
-
That's cool, sorry for assuming. I totally understand asking friends to bump it, was just wondering
-
it's ok. Hoth and i have wondered if you lee and toaster are alts because of the coordination
