What you’re doing wrong is masterworking armor, as it practically has no difference in defense for upgrading and costs like FIFTEEN shards? I haven’t spent a single Infusion Core on a piece of armor, and I get by just fine. I have exactly enough cores to infuse my gear if needed when I need to, and if I need to infuse gear I get them back from legendaries or Finest Matterweave I break down or use. Do the bounties from Spider and you can get 3 then do the Verdant Forest and you get another 2. Do this on all 3 characters and you just got 15 shards. Do this every day of the week, congratulations you just made 51 shards in 1 week, and that’s not including dismantling all the legendaries you got during this time and the Finest Matterweave you used during this time. I used to believe the whole “Shards are rare and nonsense and shouldn’t be used for infusions” but then I started playing smarter and not harder. I don’t mean that in a negative way towards you OP or anyone else, sometimes I’ve been in a situation where I don’t get a shard for like 3 days, but you just gotta make sacrifices on gear sometimes if you want to finish that gun you already have.

Then you masterworked way too many weapons. The most masterwork cores I’ve seen it take to increase something from nothin is it took me 3 cores to increase a piece of Eververse armor to 680. I don’t think that there’s a difference, but let’s say that there is. Lets say it takes 5 cores to raise something from 10 to 700, and you for some reason decide that you want a raid set up, a PvE set up, and a PvP set up, and a Gambit set up. That’s 40 cores for an entire set up of all 8 pieces of gear, 3 times, you’re at 120 cores. Three characters puts you at 360 cores. Ok, so that’s 1 set, but you really like to mess around with some other guns, so you infuse say 5 more guns. Now you’re at 385. 385 cores really isn’t that bad, especially since Bungie was handing them out about an equal amount of cores as they were disappointment this season. As I said in my previous post, you can make 51 cores a week without breaking down legendaries and Finest Matterweave. The only time that cores are an issue is Masterworking. Which is exactly where they should be an issue. It takes what, 10 for a gun and 15 for an armor? I’m not sure on that. Lets go ahead and masterwork all 14 guns you chose to use, boom that’s 140 cores as well. Now we’re up to 525 cores. 525 cores with the math in my previous post takes a minimum 10-11 weeks and some change to earn, and that’s by doing some things that take me maybe an 3 1/2 hours a day for 10-11 weeks to knock out. It takes 12 Ghost Fragments to get the Spider bounties that are 1 Enhancement Core. So load that up, go run some patrols, do his daily bounties at the same time, and grab a Treasure Hunter ghost shell. That’s like an hour and a half of Tangled Shore to knock that out, and twenty minutes to fly to other planets and knock out his bounties. If you’re really fast you can knock this out on all of your characters, fast and smart about it. Especially if you take the time to make sure you’ve already got 20 Ghost Fragments from the week before, then you can get the bounties on one, restock for your next, and then grind out the 3rd really quick. The Verdant Forest lasts maybe 30-45 minutes. The furthest I’ve ever made it in a random team run was Forest 34 and that gave us 3 minutes to kill the bosses, we killed all 5 in 2 minutes. That’s an instant 2 cores. But I know man. This is 3 1/2 hours a day and some people don’t want to play Destiny that much. Some people play Destiny twice a week and you might be that guy. Or you might want to spend your time doing raids or running Gambit with your clanmates. But the point of my post is to say it’s possible, and the methods are there if you put in the effort. This is also not considering that if you get lucky you can get 2-3 cores a day from dismantling, and Finest Matterweave is a guaranteed core as well, there have been days where I’ve gotten 3 of those a day.
