Here is the skinny.
I get that y'all like RP. Heck, i even indulge from time to time, but, we cannot have RP on every post for every topic here. Some things are just sacred.
So, on this post, i suggest a guideline to RP in the forum.
Consider this a compromise between the no RP crowd, and the Pro RP crowd. The text of the guidelines follows as such
Section 1: Definitions
Hereby, RP is defined to mean Role Play. Role Play constitutes taking on a character in-order to participate in a game and participating in a Role Playing game.
Gimmicks are defined as a signature or pervasive character theme affected by the poster that is central to the identity of the poster but does not include the a form of game performed as an extension of the gimmick.
Game is defined to be a series of events, imagined or real, that are artificially undertaken as a form of sport or fun.
Artificial is defined as not naturally occurring or existing, or something or some one that is engineered to happen or exist outside of natural events and processes.
Section 2: Mandates
Roleplaying post hereafter must be denoted with either, Role Play or a similar term in the title of the post, or a rolepaying tag.
If a post is lacking the appropriate designation, its is assumed to not be a RP post and Roleplaying is not allowed.
Subsection 2: Gimmicks
Gimmicks, as defined shall not be effected by this bill, unless the gimmick devolves into a form of roleplay, that shall be determined by whether or not the gimmick is used more so than the express definition of a gimmick and or becomes a form of a game.
Section 3: Enactment, certification and timeline.
these guidlines will come into effect immediately after an affirmative certification. Certification is determined by the results equaling a majority of votes on one particular side after three days or if the total votes exceed 120
Amendment 1: Religion and Politics
Section 1:
Religious posts are hear-by defined as post in which the merits of any religion are debated as part of the main text of the post.
Religion is defined as a system of beliefs that which people live their lives by.
Political posts are defined as any post in which politics or anything in regards to politics is discussed
Politics is defined as the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.
regards is defined as about or related to.
Satire is defined as he use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
AMA is defined as Ask Me Anything
Section Two: Mandates.
Hereafter, any post in regards to politics or religion shall now have to be properly labeled as such within the title or tags of the post. Politics and religion shall not be talked about in non political posts.
Subsection 1: Satire.
Posts that are satirical in nature are require no more than a satire tag, or any tag derivative of that
Subsection 2: AMA.
Seeing how AMA means ask me anything, no further designation is needed.
Section 3: Ratification
This amendment shall go into effect as soon as ratified as provided in the main bill
in summary, roleplay should not be on non roleplay posts, gimmicks are left out

agreed

I see two problems 1. Unless this is in the CoC, people don’t have to listen. 2. A poster may post something unrelated to roleplay, but he may like it when people roleplay on his post
-
I demand new polls. One each for religion, then politics. This isn't Florida and bundling legislation doesn't -blam!-ing fly.
-
So when NASA posted that photo of the blackhole, it was just this forum because of dense RP’ing.
-
The Semate shall consider it

2 RepliesWhy should we be enforcing what people reply with outside of the usual CoC stuff? It just seems so much easier to simply scroll past it if you don't want to see it.

2 RepliesNah, it ruins the magic then If i write [RP] in my title like my faraway mountain post for example... And also it isn’t too much of a problem, it’s not like lore where Fanfiction/RP is constantly debated about wether it is allowed or not... As well I don’t believe anybody is going to follow the rules either, but the fact that you tried to implement discussion is nice... I’d look forward to more topics like this...
perhaps you could join the void...
2 RepliesOk. I have at least 35,567 issues with what you are proposing. JK! But no one should do this. It’s like running a police state and Bungie is already notorious for that in the forums. The Ninjas I have noticed have gotten really trigger/happy these days. Then that would give them a reason to ban more people. So in other words,No. not funny.

1 ReplyI mean, who cares? It's the internet. If people want to rp, let them rp. They aren't breaking any rules
-
This actually is pretty reasonable. All he is saying. in short is respect others and don't rp on non rp posts.

18 RepliesI honestly do not see how gimmicks are any different. They revolve solely on imaginary, made up, act like something or someone that you are not, otherwise known as - role playing. But none of this will never happen because you can't coral feral cats.

55 RepliesOk folks, let's all just take a breath. HoTh does have a good point, this can lead to a bit of a forum war and it could create tensions. Let us not attack HoTh, but think about the point he is trying to accomplish. Why not take the idea and refine it, see if we can come up with a more workable idea that might make folks happy. Not everyone will, but then again, the whole point of a forum is to talk and we can do that, exchange some ideas and either make workable version or realize that there is no chance it will happen.

1 ReplyEdited by John Watson: 4/30/2019 4:40:15 PMI think I can agree with a little of this, but I’m not entirely sure it will work very well. Like Xombie said there’d are people who slip in and out of character so it could be confusing at time. And before you tell me to refer to section 2 subsection 2, I’m just going to say that no matter what this petition does there will be people who will blatantly break it. Also what’s with the layer talk? Did you want to make it really fancy, I don’t have a problem with it, just curious.

29 RepliesEdited by Bopsheezi: 5/1/2019 3:59:52 AMNay. Some of the better RP sessions here have come into play from a non RP post. Edit: Upon further debate with Hoth, I have decided to change my vote to aye under the conditions that the following amendment is ratified.
Amendment 1: Section 1: Religious posts are hearby defined as post in which the merits of any religion are debated as part of the main text of the post.
