And people called me crazy for saying this was going to be another poorly crafted, generic, open world survival game...

I watched Cohh Carnage play over the weekend. The story doesn't even start getting good till about 6 hours into it. Very average game is what I'm hearing from most people. Nothing real spectacular, or out of the ordinary from what I've seen.

Good but not great. I’ve played about 8 hours now and it’s kind of slow. There’s a lot of “survival” realistic stuff that reminds me a bit of Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a little frustrating and makes it a bit of a chore to play sometimes. Like the need to constantly refuel and repair your bike. The bike constantly runs out of fuel. Also you constantly run out of bullets and your melee weapons need to be repaired all the time as well. Also you can only fast travel if you have enough fuel reach there - which is frustrating. If you’re not into the survival stuff then you probably won’t like it. Also the shooting is definitely a bit janky. But because there’s not much ammo you won’t spend much time shooting anyway. It’s not really a shooter in the same way as RDR2 or something. It’s more of a stealth game or a game where you set up environmental traps to kill the zombies (sorry freakers). Apart from the negatives though I’m still enjoying it. The story and the exploration are the best thing about it so far. But I would say it’s definitely not up to the usual Sony first party standards. It’s nowhere near as good as God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn or the Last of Us. I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Game Slayera fragment of the past - old
I though you said how was your day today. I got confused when you had haven’t played as an option then I realized. -
A good but flawed game. Shooting at distance is tough but not so much because of lousy shooting mechanics, but because these zombies are fast moving and landing a head shot is difficult, especially with ammo scarcity and unloading 5 rounds in a single one is not ideal. Hoards you need to plan ahead for and more than 3 of them coming at you is a pain unless you got a shotty or explosives. I cant say much on the story as I'm only about 6 hours in, been mainly messing around in the open world which is very much akin to farcry and rdr (the way the story is told while in the world). This game is a 7-8 range depending on of you enjoy farcry like games or zombie games, or a mesh between the two. I will say this though, fast zombies are always scarier than slow moving ones, especially when in hordes.

Edited by Neilius Maximus: 4/29/2019 6:04:09 AMI've heard it was pretty mediocre. I'm not into survival so I'm definitely not going to play it Although a coworker of mine claims that the game is getting outstanding reviews. He's a Sony pony so of course he would ignore metacritic. He apparently hasn't heard anything bad about it. Like c'mon, liking a system is fine, but defending it to death is just pathetic.

I played it a bit. It was cool except for the zombie hoards. Those just suck

The more I play the less I like it. Waste of a pretty world on drab mechanics. Shooting and Bike riding are attrocious. Loot and skill trees do not fit game. It actually gave good first impression, but its so pedestrian it really isn't worth your time.

Mediocre with a AAA budget is what I'm hearing.

I haven’t played, but heard it wasn’t that great.
