So they fixed the timeline by putting the stones back, but also not really because they killed past Thanos and messed up the timeline for his children. Maybe I missed something there.

  • Thanos isn't dead.

  • He was erased, was he not?

  • In this timeline. But he's alive and well in Loki's.

  • But that Thanos traveled from the past to the present, and was erased. There is no continuation from there.

  • Yes, this timeline Thanos is "probably" dead. The timeline got messed up when Loki vanished because Hulk knocked Tony out. Time travel is tricky but flexible now for Marvel. I'm hoping they are not stupid about it. GotG3 and the next Spiderman will determine the next phase. Adam Warlock is coming, I think. Or who knows now because Disney has the rights to the Xmen and Fantastic 4. Silver Surfer is a baddie for sure...

  • Loki no longer had the stone, since Cap and Tony when further back in time to get it. Because nothing will ever work 100% with time travel, the first Avengers movie wouldn't have even happened, because Loki would never had gotten the stone and so the current timeline would not be happening, but again, nothing will ever be perfect with time travel. When Cap went back in time to return the stones, the timeline went back to normal with the exception of Thanos. Since he came from the past, there is no more Thanos unless the Avengers or some bad guy went back in time to stop End Game from happening.

  • From what I gathered each time they jumped to another time, like when Cap and Tony went for the stone, that was another timeline. That wouldn’t have affected Loki during that timeline when he escaped.

  • Maybe. It may be a way to get Loki back alive for later movies. When the first go back in time, they are in their past and in their timeline, but when they take a stone or change anything, it creates a new timeline, their past isn't changed. I guess since they didn't have two tesseracts they couldn't change the timeline where Loki escaped. I didn't think of that before. I guess in that timeline everyone else is still alive too. I doubt They would bring back Thanos again, because they would have to make Infinity War and End game all over again. For Thanos to come back to the current timeline, he would have to intercept Loki and then give the tesseract to the Avengers in the current timeline post End Game, to then the Avengers return it to the past thus erasing that alternate timeline. Thanos would have to fix the timeline, but then End game would happen again, then Loki's timeline would happen again, then Thanos would fix it again, creating a forever loop or after fixing the timeline Thasos would just die because there would be no alternate timelines where he is alive.

  • It's a bit confusing. When Cap grew old it threw me off. It would have altered IW and Endgame but I guess Ironman was destined to defeat Thanos. However, in the comic books Thanos dies a few times. Apparently he's immortal no matter what. He'll be dead but not for long from what I have read.

  • Comic and multi million/billion dollar movies are different subjects. Marvel isn't gonna bring back Thanos to basically make the same movies again. It's probably just oversight on the writers/directors part.
