I personally don't get it. Do Spider's bounties. They give several cores a day. Also, if you farm Crucible or strikes and dismantle the loot you get, this usually drops scrapper bounties for the activity you're in. That's easy cores. Do raids. Curated rolls drop all the time. Farm activities that have curated rolls like Reckoning and Nightfalls. They drop very frequently. Cores also drop somewhat frequently (RNG I know. Some people get them like crazy and some don't) just by dismantling legendary gear. Just play the game and you get cores. Now I get it. Not everyone can put 4 hours + a day into the game, but there are a lot of options on how to get them. They can literally come from any activity. Someone who plays an hour a day isn't going to have the same gear and desired character of someone who plays 6 hours a day. That's just a fact and that's how it should be.

  • "Ok I've got 30 minutes today to play I can either play content I want or grind stupid spider bounties for cores and by the time I've got them I have to shut off the game as I'm out of time and I didn't actually play any content I want to..."

Well if you only have 30 minutes to play then you just aren't going to have the same gear as someone who has more time to play does. That's just a fact. I mean, if anyone, regardless of play time, could have cool, fully masterworked gear with all the perks they wanted, players would be screaming for "something to grind for." And don't say they wouldn't. These forums were filled with posts like that not too long ago. Maybe the grind for cores is too artificial for some people? Fine. That can make sense, considering acquiring them is more RNG than not. But for people to argue that they ruin the experience and need to be removed is an arguement born from ignorance. The moment players who barely play can get the same stuff a person who plays several hours a day can, people will complain and we would be right back where we started. The entirety of D1 and a portion of Y1D2 was people asking for a grind and more reason to play the game. Chasing gear does that. Players want their time investment respected, meaning a player who plays a lot should progress and go further while someone who plays a little should spend most of their time trying to progress, or just not have the best gear and still progress. Removing cores without providing an alternative would undermine the game time of players like myself and many of my friends. I invest a lot in the game and haven't had an issue, which is why I'm so confused by OPs post. He has 300+ more hours of gameplay than I do and I have more masterworked items and more cores. Something went wrong there.

  • If you already have the gear with good rolls and what’s holding you back is infusing that good gear because of cores that’s dumb

  • That RNG statement is no joke. My friend and I play the exact same events at the same times and it seems I get 10-20 a day while he struggles for 3.

Here's the difference. In the Division 2, Recalibration serves many of the same functions in the game that Infusion does in Destiny. Like infusion you have to invest multiple in game resources (currencies) into the process. Like Bungie **claims** with cores, Massive wants you to think carefully about what items you recalibrate. You get to transfer one stat or talent from one piece to another....and you destoy the pieces youre transfering from in the process. This is not something they wan't you doing mindlessly. The rarest resource that you need to do this is Titanium. BUT IN THE DIVISION 2, TITANIUM LITERALLY DROPS FROM EVERYTHING YOU DO IN THE GAME. There a crates on the ground you can open that might give it to you. Enemies that you kill will routinely drop it. Bosses you kill will routinely drop it. You can go into the open world and intentionally FARM it if you need large amounts of it. As long as you are only recalibrating one or two things a play session, the game gives you MORE than enough of the resource than you need for the role in which the devs want recalibration to play. I've been using it liberally to polish my builds, and YESTERDAY was the first time I had to back off from recalibrating an item because I didn't have enough titanium. So how will I get it? No problem.....JUST KEEP PLAYING THE GAME THE WAY I NORMALLY DO. THAT IS HOW A WELL-DESIGNED IN-GAME CURRENCY FUNCTIONS IN A GAME LIKE THIS. You LITERALLY don't have to think about it, as long as you stay within the game play bounds that the devs intend it to serve. Titanium wasn't put into the game as a time waster or to cover up for lack of content. It was put there so people didn't sit there at the crafting table or the recalibration table and try to MIN-MAX their builds THERE, in lieu of actually playing the game. Cores were put into the game for no other reason than to waste people's time....and slow their progression. To get people to play, without actually having to reward them for it. That's the problem. We're playing a game where we're chasing cores, rather than chasing loot.

Exactly tried to make the same comment few weeks back but got down voted Bungie fan boys seems to think the over use of RNG and road blocks for the sole purpose of slowing down a small top percent is fine...even tho the hardcore no lifers it's meant to slow down don't get effected by it...All this system does is limit people into using the current meta and puts people of playing around with different builds

  • Exactly. Bungie has basically strong-armed the game and dumbed it down to the point where the ONLY way to play the game is they way THEY want the game to be played. Which is---sadly---narrow, rigid and simple-minded by RPG standards. Oh...and its really not very fun either. Minor detail......

  • You forgot Hawthorne alone is 21 guranteed cores a week and to get them it takes less then 3 hours of play time per week. So with relatively 0 effort that's enough to infuse up an entire build with cores left over every week.

  • I know I havn't played in a couple of weeks but I have never gotten more than 1 core a week from Hawthorne and havn't seen that for a while. When did that change? Oops got that wrong I got on last week and didn't get any cores from her and it was reset day that I got on.

  • Doesnt matter what day you get on. She gives you 7 per character for leveling her up. If you don't have that perk unlocked on the clan banner which is tier 3 if I remember right it might behoove you to either help your clan out by playing more or find a mildly active one and leach off them.

  • So it isn't 21 free cores every week. You and multiple others have to grind every week to get the cores. That isn't free cores like you stated at all. By the way I was the last player in my clan still playing and now there are none of us. It wasn't a huge clan but most of us had been together since the beginning of D1 and some from before that. That should say something for where D2 is at right now.

  • It's 21 free cores every week. Each character gets 7 when you rank up Hawthorne by just playing. It takes about an hour to rank up Hawthorne.. so 3 hours or less on 3 characters of casually playing is 21 cores. 3 hours of casually doing whatever isn't grinding at all. Grinding is doing the same activity repeatedly to get something I.E. nightfalls for weapons. People quit it happens. Has nothing to do with cores there is no content. No content = nothing to do = people leaving... that's how games work. Great leave and find a new clan. I left the clan I was in from D1 🤷‍♂️

  • Funny that I havn't gotten any cores from her when I went to pick up my package from her. The cores are part of the grind in the game that are pointless repeat things of things you have done 100+ times and there are time you have to wait for the correct event to spawn if you are doing spider bounties for them, so yes that is a huge part of people quitting I guarantee anybody in my clan that has quit will tell you the cores are a major reason for leaving. I know it is for me.

I mean... you unlock that perk from leveling her to like level 2. Your clan must be extremely dead. Might be time to find a new one or to recruit fresh blood... you are an admin after all. My clan isn't very active but we manage to unlock the perks she has to offer. It takes 0 effort. I've played nothing but comp the past 2 weeks and have gained 100. I've never done a spider bounty side from when they first came out and I wanted lord of wolves.

  • So if my clan is slow or dead or I play as a solo player who paid the same price for the game as all these other people if not more (depending on when they purchased everything) I have to grind that much harder ? That sounds like an extremely broken system and is a very broken system. Yes I am an admin and I can add more people but with most of my clan being friends and family mostly 40+ and being together since D1 and before we have just mostly moved on together. I hop on for a few minutes from time to time now just to goof off but to us even Fortnite with the kids is better right now than D2 and we are not grinding out cores on top of the already super grindy game. We will just do as we have and move on and keep an eye out for changes but as of now D2 is just money wasted especially the extra spent on the so called DLC that has been a lack there of.

  • You are an admin. Your job is to help manage your clan. You could always as a solo player join a casual clan (there are many out there including mine) and continue to play by yourself while reaping benefits. Sometimes in life... you have to let go and move on. I've left plenty of clans from D1-D2. If you don't want to and you don't want to add more people to your dead clan then only person you can point the finger at is yourself... you have the tools available to better your situation.
