Why are blue items in the loot pool?
One blue item, for 75 essence. After completing the triumphs and getting the exotic, I had some extra revelry essence, so I decided to get some packages.
Saw two blue items pop up, figured I must have missed something. Nope. 10-20 minutes of game time(roughly how long to get 75 essence), and you give us random blue items, worth 3 gunsmith parts?
Huh?
Who thought this made sense? Who thinks blue items make sense as anything but random world drops in the endgame?
Seriously, you need to hire someone dedicated to fixing the loot system, because this type of stuff is just silly.
It trivialized the currency, which is exactly what giving us more enhancement cores is doing. That's not fun. Make things in game more meaningful, not less.
What should happen, what did happen. Is that I used the essence for buffs while making sure I had enough to buy the exotic after completing the triumphs. I was pleased to see them as rewards for various activities, and enjoyed completing the steps for my event reward. Then I planned on running the forest, or doing whatever, to buy packages, and expected to continue to enjoy the event.
Now?
I have no reason to do anything. I'll just ignore the vendor from here on out and dump whatever essence I accumulate before the event ends, just to get it out of my inventory. Why bother with the time limited ornaments, or to farm for packages when it is just as likely to yield no actual reward.
This isn't even a game problem. Which is why it seems so strange. Having BS items in the loot pool is a development choice, one that makes zero sense.

its the old lottery system in place.. you need a lot of worthless tickets in order for the tickets with an win to be considered worthy.. .. the blues are the "you didnt win" tickets with a small price attached.

10 RepliesOpened 8 packages, only blue crap. Logged out. Ain’t coming back. Not only is the activity broken since there is absolutely no point in going beyond say wave 12 (in an unlimited horde mode LMFAO!) but the reward is less than for a public event. Gg to bungie, I mean it’s not that easy to disgust players, and turn so much love into so much hatred and/or disdain. The more this goes on, the more Bungie is making sure that their next release, whatever the rating, will be a big flop.

Huge disappointment, very quick dismantle. Blues are already huge chore to dismantle during PVE activities. It pushes many legendary, engrams even prime engrams out of mail box.

To dilute it and make it harder for you to get what you're grinding for. I.e. artificially inflating player's play time.

7 RepliesJust remember that this is the same company that honestly thought 2 tokens and a blue would make the mercury Public Event the most rewarding public event ever. Also, don't forget that a good number of people in the community supported them on this and other terrible decisions.

1 ReplyI think one problem with the loot system is that blues become useless too soon. Blues should stay relevant and help you hit max light. Legendary gear should be a little more rare, but perks should be more meaningful. Place less emphasis on level, more emphasis on perks and mods to build power.

Stare at enough poo and eventually find some corn. It designed to make you go. YES FINALLY AN EXOTIC! About once every two months. And instantly dismantle it cause it was useless too.

The grind through other rarity types to get to legendary is far too short to make them worth keeping around. As for the blues that are specific to certain adventures/missions, there aren’t enough of’em, nor are they valuable to really keep and infuse.

5 RepliesBlues can drop scrapper bounties to give you one core. Loot games need shit loot too or you can't tell good from bad. "Impactful" feeling or not: that is how it has always been. Games like Diablo, Path of Exile, Division or Borderlands drop more loot but most of that you will start ignoring and considering a waste of time as well. And don't forget the enemies in the Forest drop loot too. Legendaries included. Considering playing that a waste of time is only half of the truth just like making cryopod PE heroic may actually be beneficial to people outside their intended goals simply for the major and boss mobs that will spawn.

Those packages should have at least been 25 essence. Or a daily bounty should have awarded 75 essence and not 25 and the amount you get for activities should have been tripled. Needless to say, there are plenty of ways this system could have worked better. Did Bungie really think people were going to sit and grind this stuff out when the only thing people want are the ornaments and they don't even last past the event. The event itself has been great but once again they shoot themselves in the foot with rewards. I just don't get it anymore. I have never played a game so unwilling to reward players for time invested. This is the definition of insanity. We keep playing this game expecting it to change and it's the same old shit each time.

You'd bake cookies, turn them in for rewards, and PROFIT by dismantling the legendary items with the possibility of getting enhancement cores. People enjoyed the activity because it allowed them to pad the scarce commodity. So now the Revelry rolls around - Bungie has been as obstinate as ever about retaining enhancement cores and does not want to provide means for generating them beyond what is already available. So boom - no (or very few) legendary items in Eva's gift boxes. Thus, no extra cores. Keep grinding the SOS (and I don't mean Spire of Stars) for more cores boys and girls.

This here is not a problem of legacy bug which they can't fix due to other pressing issues. This is pure incompetence from their part. This is by choice. Well said guardian!
