This reminds me of that one saying "folks that think they can and folks that think they can't, are both usually right" or something like that.

The overwhelming majority of people who play poker think they’re good at it, and almost none of them are right.
The overwhelming majority of people who play poker think they’re good at it, and almost none of them are right.
Interesting thought. Do you mean that confidence is a bad thing? kinda sounds like a negative perception of people than anything based in fact. That attitude would definitely put ya at a disadvantage walking up to a table of strangers.

Edited by Bake8935: 4/22/2019 3:56:18 PMAttitude isn’t nearly as relevant as you think in this instance. The percentage of people who are winning on a regular basis is low. Like all casino games, the house is set up to win. Unlike most games, you aren’t directly playing against the house, but you are paying “rake” which is the house commission. Most people don’t realize how much money this takes off the table, but trust me, it’s considerable. You have to be an excellent player in order to win at poker in the long run. Being in the top 50% at the game won’t make you a winner. Not even close.

Nice, I get ya. I feel like you want to argue with somebody about your job. I'm just a fella that thinks about competitive people, games, friends, ect. The song says the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep. I like that, Kenny Rodgers was never singing about a silly card game, it's about life.

I understand the metaphor. I’m not speaking about this metaphorically. I’m being quite literal.

Do ya have more to say?
