After Over 2,500 Matches, Here's How I Think PvP Could be Changed:

Before I begin, I want to clarify that this isn't a salt post or a post intended to sh*t on the developers. This is just some feedback I hope reaches the Crucible team in order to make PvP a more enjoyable experience. [b]1. Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten Need to be Forced Further Into Their Roles as 1v1 Weapons:[/b] Luna's and NF rule the Crucible right now on console. In order to allow other weapons to shine while still letting these pinnacle weapons retain their effectiveness, the Mag Howl perk needs to be made less forgiving (i.e. you only get one bullet, and the bonus damage isn't applied unless the third shot is a headshot) or these weapons need their magazine sizes reduced drastically (I'm talking a 50% reduction. Reload speed could be increased to compensate if needed.) [b]2. Power Ammo Needs to Spawn Way Less:[/b] Power Ammo spawns way too much, especially in Quickplay. It should only spawn maybe three times a game. Alternatively, just revert back to the D1 Heavy system where two crates spawn at once once per match that the entire team can pick up. The current system allows for the winning team to hoard power for the [i]entire[/i] game and easily steamroll the opposition. [spoiler]As an aside to this point, could we also look at the spawns for Power ammo too? Why does power spawn outside on The Burnout on Control when the strategical advantage is inside? To get power you have to forcibly spawn flip yourself into a worse spawn.[/spoiler] [b]3. Super Mods Need to be Nerfed Drastically or Removed From the Game Entirely:[/b] A player running even a few super mods can easily get their super three times in a match. If all six people on a team are doing this, that's potentially 18 supers for a team to deal with in a single game. Considering how strong supers are on the whole at the moment, this is not a fun experience, Which kind of leads me on to my next point: [b]4. If Super Mods Are Staying, Super DR Needs Reducing Across the Board:[/b] Supers are too strong and too frequent in the current sandbox. They all need their damage reduction set back to D1 levels if super mods are staying. A high impact snipe headshot should kill a super at full health. A well-timed Shotgun+Melee combo should also kill a super at full health. [b]5. There Needs to be a Reward for Every Major Competitive Rank:[/b] Pretty self-explanatory. Most people stop playing Comp once they hit Fabled, since they either aren't good enough or can't be bothered to go for Not Forgotten. Competitive-specific weapons at each major rank-up would incentivise people to keep playing. [b]6. Competitive Ranks Need to Have Safety Nets:[/b] For example, if I hit Fabled, it is now impossible for me to drop below Fabled. This is just another small thing to help players stay motivated to keep climbing the ranks with too much fear of failure. [b]7. Rumble Should Award Glory Points:[/b] This is just so solo players have an option to earn Competitive Pinnacle rewards. The top three players in a match all earn Glory, with the player in first earning the most. In terms of streaks, coming in the top three counts as a "win," and coming in the bottom three counts as a "loss." Hell, make it it's own playlist if you want and call it "Solo Competitive" or "Lone Wolves" or something. And that's all I can think of right now, which is probably for the best since this post is getting rather long.

  • Agree with everything but #1. There are counters for both Luna and NF. Would add: bring back skill based matchmaking /fix ridiculous constant mercy games. Iron Banner apparently has it at least in some form and hence IB feels so much better for me, even when I used iron burden.
