IMO cores are common enough. Between drops from scrapping, scrapper bounties, and buying them from spider, you can easily get enough cores to make a level 10 masterwork in a week. It really doesn't seem unreasonable.
Also, not sure why more time playing the game = better gear seems unfair to you. That's how it should be. People who did more work should be rewarded for their work.
you can easily get enough cores to make a level 10 masterwork in a week. It really doesn't seem unreasonable.
If that's all they were used for? Agreed. The problem is you also need them for infusing gear to level things up to end-game level..... ...and just infusing ONE item isn't enough. You have eight gear slots, three characters, and many of us who are angry want to run mutliple builds. I ran four builds per character across all three characters before Forsaken. I CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE Because doing so would require me to extract 200 cores from this game....PER WEEK. Or enough cores to fully masterwork TWELVE weapons....PER WEEK. That is why this system is broken. You are right in a sense. The cores are properly available to fulfill the function that they were originally designed for....to masterwork gear. (You want that to be rare, because its a powerful upgrade to a weapon or piece of armor). But cores are nowhere near plentiful enough to properly fuel infusion and progression. So it bottlenekes the entire ecnoomy..and no one masterworks anything, because every one scrounging for...and then SITTING ON...every core they can find to reduce the suppressive effect it was intended to have on progression.

Cores aren’t supposed to be “common” the system is clearly broken.
