To any dev or support member that is able to help me:
I am a maintainer of wine-staging:
https://github.com/wine-staging/wine-staging
My username on there is GloriousEggroll
Yesterday, I deliberately purchased and set up a brand new account (from which I am posting on) specifically to troubleshoot getting Destiny 2 to run using WINE and DXVK. My main account has existed since D2 launched, and also linked to my D1+D2 accounts on both platforms. Thus I did not want to risk getting banned on that account for the sake of getting this working.
WINE is a program linux users use, that allows many windows games to run on linux. Steam's recent "Steam Play" is also based on WINE:
https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/proton
Wine-Staging is the upstream patchsets which are eventually merged into WINE mainline.
DXVK is a translation layer that translates DX11 to Vulkan for users on linux, found here:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk
Steam Play also uses DXVK.
Today, I logged in sadly to see that account, which I did not even get as far as completing the first mission, banned. I am kindly asking if any member could contact me regarding getting the account unbanned and possibly making any exemption necessary so that linux users can play your game. My only intention was to help others to be able to play the game that are not using Windows.
I was successful in getting D2 to run on linux, but it seems whatever anti-cheat system in use has swiftly stopped me from being able to do anything further. :(

Bungie does not lift bans. You'll be notified in 24 hours if you get unbanned because of a misplaced ban (probably won't happen though, just saying so you don't get your hopes up). You'll have to create a new account and buy the game again.
