1. They're afraid that we'll reach level cap....realize that there really isn't any loot to chase....and we'll stop playing. They don't trust the game they've made enough to believe that we'll keep playing it because we enjoy it. 2. They dont' drop at max light, because Bungie's goal is to wring as much play as possible from a limited amount of content. So having the soft cap far below level cap ties into the role in the game cores play. Here's the scam. a. The game has no end-game basically, because there is no loot to chase. But Bungie's goal is to keep us playing by trapping us in an unending, MID-GAME item level grind so that we don't notice this. b. So you throttle vertical progression wtih Milestones so you stretch out the grind to level cap for as long as possible. c. You bottleneck infusion with cores, so that players can't level up the gear they want... (more on this laters) d. You keep players grinding by doling out the game's rewards with an eyedropper. So everything new either had really low drop rates, or is awarded after a very lengthy, STRUCTURED grind. e. ONCE YOU REACH LEVEL CAP, A SECOND GRIND KICKS IN BECAUSE YOU'VE BOTTLENECKED INFUSION....THE GRIND TO BRING THE GEAR YOU LIKE UP TO LEVEL CAP. f. So now you're forced to grind for either the necessary cores to infuse the gear you want to play with up to level cap......or continue to grind MILESTONES (!!) so you can get duplicates at level cap so you can infuse with Glimmer rather than cores. g. But before the vast majority of players can accomplish this, you raise level cap (!!) which kicks you back down to the mid-game item level grind (sub-point a) ....and the process repeats itself(!!) Or the player realizes that they're on a -blam!-ing HAMSTER WHEEL that doesn't go anywhere....chasing after a loot MIRAGE that Bungie has made intentionally elusive, and is intentionally blocking you from enjoying. As they try to condition you to accept unpredictable progression and unpredictable rewards, yet continue to grind away in frustration. Which is why when people think "-blam!- this Noise"....and they either quit....or drastically cutback their involvement in the game. THAT is why Bungie isnt' going to win this fight....and every game devleoper who has tried to win this kind of fight with the player base either backs down....or destroys their own game.

  • Omg even with 352 Upvotes I had to scroll down about 20 pages to find my post (on companion app) I don’t know if that’s normal but wtf is the point of UPvotes?!

  • Agree with everything here. I've seen it all pan out over time. To quote SNTR, Don't you find it interesting that bungie was so quick to fix an enhancement core glitch but ignore / take no action on the multiple issues that plague player enjoyment? This is proof to me that Bungie has no intention to make an destiny 2 a more enjoyable experience for players. There efforts are elsewhere right now, in the areas you mentioned: creating the illusions of "something more", micro managing player progress, and drawing out superficial grinds...

  • It’s like 25 to master work a weapon or something, don’t have any armor master worked- but yet I can buy 10 from spider for 123400 shards

  • Which is probably more shards than have passed through your Guardian's hands in the history of the entire franchise. Whch shows you how ridiculous this whole situation is.

U sound -blam!-. Level cap has nothing to do with cores. This is the dumbest reply i read. Nearly all of your points are invalid and cores are easy as -blam!- to get. You can have almost 200+ saved for opulence just from the Hawthorne weekly alone. Either u don’t know what you’re doing or u just don’t play the game.

  • Whatever, kid. Do me a favor. Try this. 1. Stop raiding...so you don't have access to the curated weapons and MW armor that drops there. 2. Put away your pinnacle weapons. 3. Dismantle your stockpiled cores. Then play this game, and try to level up and infuse things. THEN you'll be experiencing this game the way that 98% of the player base does. I think you'll find it...shall we say....**educational**. You'll find cores are not easy to get, because Bungie has designed them so that they AREN"t easy to get. You just believe they are....because you're playing the part of the game where MW'ed gear (by far) has the highest chance of dropping. I haven't seen a MW'ed weapon or gear piece---other than curated item---- drop in MONTHS of playing this game.

Wrong I don’t even try to get them and get 50 a week minimum kid. Just play reckoning masterworks drop like candy I got 35 cores doing reckoning last night. Getting cores isn’t hard even if you don’t raid kid. I don’t infuse shit until my drops start hitting 700. When this season started here’s what u do get a powerful drop don’t friggin infuse it right away. Just leave the drop u got in your inventory you don’t have to equip for the game to know u have it. You’re not supposed to infuse every time you get a drop. Don’t start infusing your normal gear until your drops are hitting 700. You don’t have to wear unwanted gear. Just use your 650 gear until your drops hit 700. Then infuse I don’t understand why people find this so hard. If I deleted all my cores I can easily get back 75 in a week.

  • This "kid" is old enough to be your father. While you're demonstrating that you don't understand how "probability" (RNG) and probability (Bell) curves work. I can assure you that the vast majoriy of people playing this game are no earning 50 cores a week from dismantlign gear and doing scrapper bounties. ...and in my case---I've done the math----those 50 cores wouldn't be enough> I'd need FOUR TIMES that many every week, just to maintain the play style I had prior to Forsaken.

  • Watch deej in interviews, reveals etc D1 Yr1 he was all positivity, smiling, nice, you could feel his excitement. Over time he's become less and less positive and happy, even stopping being the primary community manager. These days it's like he can't believe the garbage he's peddling.

Funny you mention him. Because it's something he said in the lead up to the release of Vanilla Destiny 1 that stand as a reminder how far this franchise as fallen....and how LOST the development team really is. He said, "When you log in every day, we want you to feel like----even if you've only played for an hour---that there is always something you can do to progress your character. ALWAYS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE YOUR GUARDIAN MORE POWERFUL." Year 3 of Destiny 1 achieved that goal..... Year 2 of Destiny 2 is a game that is being managed with the absolure REVERSE of that concept. That's how committed Bungie is to slowling progression by any means necessary and trying to keep us playing by being withholding. Destiny 2 is so far removed from the game DeeJ was describing...that its almost tragic. Imo, Bungie is a company that is being poorly led....and right now is so lost that they've completely lost the thread of what kind of game Destiny is. So focused on reacting to short term problems and giving in to short term expediency.......they have gotten so used to looking at their feet, that they no longer have any idea where they're going any more. Its been sad to watch.

  • That's what I'm talking about, and when he says stuff like "see that mountain over there, you can go there", he legit believes it. He 'was' passionate, but these days he's like a used car salesman. Sad to see indeed.

  • Because The Destiny 2 development team basically took that vision of the game.....threw it in the trash....and basically tried to give us Halo 6 instead. ...and you could HEAR that a lot of people at Bungie were unhappy with that going into to release of the game. I still remember the day Luke Smith basically all-but-threw his Crucible and Sandbox teams under the bus in a pre-release interview. He said, "I have a Crucible Team that feel that **they** can make **their** mark in small-team, tactical shooters" The comment shocked me at the time, because I could clearly hear his effort to DISTANCE himself from what they were doing. Which you never hear a team leader or project leader do in business unless something has really gone sideways. But since the game hadnt' come out yet, I didn't have any context to understand what was going on. Once the game came out...flopped....and I'd seen what they had done to the game....then it call became clear. The game had been engineered from the ground up for PvP...and to create a PVP experience that could be come an e-sport....and the rest of teh game had been sacrificed to that goal. It was Luke Smith's subtle way of saying "What you're about to see is not my idea...and I don't agree with it." Which is why I think Luke has been given the reins to the entire franchise....and guys like Jon Weisznewski who engineered this misguided rebranding effort are moving on. I think behind the scenes Smith and Barrett tried to argue that this was going to be a mistake but they got ordered to stand down Although, Noosk and the rest of the Sandbox team retuned the game to play more like the first game.... ...this game is still being crippled in its ability to generate interesting loot...and a variety of loot....because its designed was committed to "competitive balance" and mashign the power-curve flat.

  • Correct as usual. It saddens me that they don't have more faith in their gameplay too because tbh I think it's pretty solid. And it would only have more longevity if I could go into the end game activities with lots of different builds and gear without handicapping my own power level in the process.

  • That's the real sad irony. In their desperate bid to hold onto players who are going to leave the game ANYWAY....they are pushing players out of the game who would have stayed had they not resorted to these tactics. Its such a self-defeating strategy. But that is what people often do to themselves when they operate out of fear.

  • It’s not a scam lol. This isn’t some mobile game where you log in once a day for 5 mins and make progress. Destiny has and always will require a time commitment if you want to get to the endgame. Destiny uses and has even IMPROVED upon many of the basic gearing mechanics that we have used and accepted in countless other mmos.

I would prefer investing my time into the game by learning it's mechanics and not by increasing some mindless number (just like in "some mobile game") that is scaled according to activity anyway.

Don't argue with this Kelly person. I've already told em to sue bungie. With all the legal talk and grandstanding, I've yet to see a difference. Kelly says it's not worth the time.. Yet here we are reading dissertations on why bungie is a fraudulent company. It's all smoke and mirrors man. Idle threats - waste of time.
