Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

What about making cores and/or mods drop from random enemies or high value targets? Not often like engrams but not as rare as exotics. They drop as little pyramids... like planetary items only purple. That’ll give all players a chance at getting more cores/mods on top of what is planned next season. Plus it’ll make patrols more worth the grind.

This is not a discussion. Bungie is simply deciding things and then telling us their decisions on one day of the week through you as a mouthpiece. We’re given no choice or room for voicing our opinions when there is time to still make changes or reallocate dev work before time is wasted and players feel like things are getting worse. The only discussions being had are behind closed doors amongst yourselves about what to listen to and if or what might be done later about it, and us, separately talking amongst ourselves where no Bungie employees enter into a conversation to actually discuss reasons why decisions were made a certain way or merits of feedback. If you want a real discussion, let players know what plans you’re making earlier and let us tell you what we think of them. Put out polls and surveys in advance. Tell us why you’re choosing to work on one thing and not another. Even if it’s not the thing we want you to work on most at that moment, it’s better for everyone if we at least know why and that you’re not just ignoring large concerns. You can’t keep treating this like an offline campaign game if you want to thrive, not just survive. Waterfall development is bad when you’re putting things out there and just hoping the results are good according to your internal goals and not the experience the players voice that they want, and opaqueness to informing your customers of what’s coming is even worse.

  • I'm just gonna lay this out: Bungie, you gave us your answer to enhancement cores and we, by a large margin, have rejected it. We have rejected your reasoning and we refuse to chase the "meaningful decision" that we all know does not, nor will it ever, exist.

    • Look man we have spoken and you don’t listen. If it’s a bounty it should grant more than one, weekly it should grant 7 minimum. I’ll have better luck and save a lot of time by just dismantling other legendary gear. And here is another piece of advice, shotguns ie the dust rock blues is an overused weapon that and the erentil. Shotguns should not one shot past 4 meters and fusions should be restricted to less than 10. The only exception being slug shotguns which need a increase to aim assist or better range but no more than 15 meters. After that pellet spread should be massive. Shotgun and fusion counters can’t counter because of the stupid amount of range these weapons have. The last word should destroy a rushing shotgunner but nope it’s 50/50 because when they slide good luck. Which brings up my last point when you slide you should lose aim assist and accuracy. I don’t know what the sweet spot is but here is your feedback with constructive notes and recommendations.

    • I feel like this is a cop out in design. Sounds like it will be functional and possibly easily adjustable to satisfy the economy. But I feel like it’s an opportunity missed to create an engaging experience instead of relying on “bounties”. Guess it’s a fix using the tools you have now. Maybe in D3.

    • Been awhile since I posted a comment on this thread so thought I’d just pop by and remind you to remove enhancement cores from infusion and reinstate them as masterwork cores for, you know master working things! Ok ty! 👍

    • So, how does one get weapon mods unless they come on a weapon or we dismantle certain mods? What I mean is, why are we funneled into either dismantling mods or weapons?

Well.... nerfing some of the most effective weapons in the game sucks, but thank goodness we have an Infusion system that is not at all cost prohibitive and allows us to experiment with builds, bring up and try new weapons, put together multiple sets of armor, and all without hours and hours of tedious chores! ... Oh, wait. No, no that's exactly what we DON'T have. We used to, but not anymore. Now some of the best tools in our kits are being nerfed AND the cost of Infusion is so high that bringing up and testing out alternative gear isn't realistic unless we want to do a ton of boring, mindless, padding chores before we get to play the game. Nope. Bungie's stance on Enhancement Cores and their sh*t attitude towards the same all but guaranteed that I won't give them another dime. Bungie's stance on the latest nerfs AND their sh*t attitude toward the same ABSOLUTELY guaranteed it. Cores in Infusion needs to go. (edited to fix a typo)

    • For starters stop asking for feedback if you aren't gonna take any of it into a count .. 2. Lower masterwork cost .. 17 cores is insanely high even for someone like me that Has some put back I mean what are we paying taxes to use the gun

    • there is no reason to have infusion. everything cool got nerfed. why infuse now? bungie is forcing everyone to use terrible armor and terrible weapons.

        • Enhancement cores help you get your weapon up. But if it stays up for more than four hours they'll nerf it.

                • Hey, look! Dauntless just launched on consoles with full cross-play between them and PC. Right when you're about to launch a new Season, too. Hope you guys like losing player numbers to Monster Hunter Fortnite because you won't remove extremely unnecessary glowing rock costs from levelling, because holy shit.

                  • It is not a ‘discussion’ if you just slap a post, name it ‘discussion , and call it a day. A discussion involves 2 parties, going back and forth. Your PR excuses are pathetic. This is why no one takes your company seriously. You might as well tell customers you don’t care at all what they think, because this is what it sounds. Garbage devs.

                    • My thought is that the amount for weekly is too low, make it between 3-5 and the daily maybe 2, if not, lower the amount required to upgrade and to masterwork. Otherwise, I honestly don't understand who you are trying to fool with this. The scrapper bounties are being replaced...REPLACED! by gun smith bounties and they still reward the same amount???? the only think that change here is the fact that "we" choose to buy them rather then randomly getting them from breaking down armor. I'm calling it......... cores to be sold by tess for real money.
