Can we feel more powerful at 700 level? Because I don't see any changes in power from 350 to 700. I want that number I chase weeks to give me some advantage in raids or nightfall also in the all game. Like assassin Creed where you chase a number but when that number increase you are more powerful. Please can you do that. Because is stupid to chase only a number for nothing. That would be a major change in the game and a good thing.i don't want to be invincible and to melt a nightfall boss in 2 seconds but really I need to feel a little more powerful. Thanks!!

  • All they do is bring down our power coefficient by scaling it down when adding a new powercap. We then grind all the way up to the same value as we were previously at. Simply put: 1/5, 2/10 and 40/200 are all the same (percentage wise) but they appear to be quantitatively larger although they all equate to the same number when solved as a division. This is why each time they give us a new level cap, we find everything challenging again. If we were actually increasing in level, by now (700) we would be registering as "immune" to all enemies within an activity of a low enough level. i.e. playing the first story mission at the original power level. It sucks, because at this point we're just running on a treadmill, moving ahead from our perspective... But to anyone viewing from the outside, we're jogging in place...

  • Bungie’s never really been all that big on fulfilling that ‘Power Fantasy’ that a lot of us expect from this IP. One of the many problems I have with this IP is how one sided power is, a 600 power Guardian will struggle against 625 power enemies ( as evidence by the Black Armory controversy with the first Forge ), but 625 power Guardian against a 600 power enemy doesn’t feel anymore effective than a 600 power Guardian. Progression in Destiny 2 feels pointless because most of us can’t see the immediate benefits of being more Powerful. Power is a roadblock to accessing content, not a thing in of itself. The average player feels like they are chasing a number, but there isn’t enough substance behind that number.

  • Very well said! It isn't a "power level" at all really, simple a new minimum level required to complete new activities, nothing to do with being powerful. Its simply a mechanism to extend play time and make you work first before you can enter new activities. And regarding Assasins Creed Odyssey, as you level up to be able to complete new regions of the map, everything else also levels up with you. So what was once a level 20 recommended region becomes a level 42 region as YOU become level 42. Its the same with Destiny, even D1. Old raids, even basic patrol enemies all scale up to you (or you are capped in those activities, not sure which one) so every enemy will always pose the same challenge it did on day 1. You never become more powerful than any basic dreg in the EDZ, you simply reach the minimum/maximum (capped) level in order to kill the dreg.

  • You are right about ac Odyssey, I play that game, and even if the enemies are scaled to your level you are more powerful, try at level 10 to kill an mercenary same level, you barely make some damage to him and will.strugle to kill him. Try now at level 50 or 80, now you can 2 shot him and bam is dead. At level 80 you can kill mercs which are at level 90 while at level 10 you can't kill a merc who is at level 15 or 20 because you are very underpowered. So in Odyssey with every level up you power and health are increased even if enemies are scaled to your level you are more powerful. First cap in Odyssey was at 70 if I remember and once I got to 70 I was like a god on all regions, almost invincible.
