I hope it's true. Not because I want you as a pvp player to be screwed but they really need to make separate games inside the same universe. The destiny brand of pvp just isn't doing well in the market anymore and a well received "pvp" game these days is a game that's built exclusively for that purpose, Overwatch, Apex, Fortnite... It's better to split up the game modes to the benefit of both than to try and cram them together to the detriment of both.
