Handicap accessibility options

My son has been recently been getting more into gaming as he's been getting older. He was born with a disfigurement in his left hand which keeps his fingers in a claw like hold. Mouse and keyboard are near impossible as he can only type with his right hand. Using a controller is difficult but doable for short periods as it causes him pain after some time. Our work around in most games, as we are on PC, is to use the PS3 nav controller in his left hand and a mouse in his right. This works amazing for him as the nav doesn't stretch is fingers apart as much as a normal controller. The only problem with him playing destiny is the game won't allow both inputs at the same time due to native aim assist with controllers. I've set up a profile for him with xpadder to map the entire nav controller to different keyboard keys. The analog stick works great for WASD. Overall this works for him. The problem is with the game itself. Sometimes it recognizes the nav as a controller and reverts back to its movement and native controls instead of listening to xpadder. These instances are short and quickly corrected by a simple mouse click but ultimately cause more negative situations and some frustration for him. I am asking for 2 questions with the info I've given above. 1. For other players who may experience similar issues: Have you any better options than xpadder or suggestions on a work around? 2. For the developers. Please consider adding an option to turn off controller aim assist and allow both input devices to work simultaneously like other games.

  • Hope you can work it out! In destiny one year one, the gun “fate of all fools” (a year one jade rabbit essentially) was given by Bungie to a man who had dealt with brain surgery and was an avid fan. Bungie saw the fan and specially made an exception for him, so hopefully they can do the same for your son! Praying it works!
