Anyone else tired of being an ugly guardian? Tired of infusing upper level gear just to look fashionable? Anyone want to use that cool escalation protocol armor but can’t because it does not have the sweet new random rolls on it? Here is a potential solution:
Armor Frame Drops
The way this would work is that you would have 2 sets for all 5 slots of armor inventory:
1. Frame - drops with random rolls and light gains. (Frame Engram)
2. Cosmetic Shell - purely cosmetic item that you can attach to the frame of that particular armor slot that serves as the “shape” of the armor item. (Cosmetic Engram)
Example: You get a legendary helmet frame engram at 640, then you get a legendary cosmetic helmet engram that you really like, so you can equip this cosmetic item to that 640 frame with a cost (glimmer/shards). Then you get a 650 helmet frame drop, you can simply reapply that cosmetic item to that frame. These cosmetic items or drops will be stored in the collections tab and the frames won’t be stored since they basically contain the random rolls and power level information. This way, if you wanted an armor piece with a set of perks you really like, you can use any cosmetic shell you want. So you can look the way you want, without having to sacrifice the perks.
Obviously this may not be financially or logistically feasible to implement, but I thought that it was a good idea worth sharing.
