Idea for Titan exotic that makes barricades aggro enemies

*Summary at bottom* The Idea: An exotic Titan chest piece that makes Barricade aggro enemies and drop one orb of light upon destruction. The Explanation: Destiny 2 does not try to adhere to the holy-trinity of damage, healing, and tanking, but it does provide some resemblance of that system. Each class should maintain the flexibility to do everything that the game requires, but there has seemingly been a shift to creating more unique builds that can change the way a fireteam handles any given encounter. This is often most apparent through “Support” abilities. A Titan barricade that aggros enemies allows all Titans to facilitate more of a tanking role. This also give the fireteam more utility in any given fight. Need to resurrect a player in the line of sight of a dangerous enemy? Pop barricade, distract the enemy, resurrect the teammate. Teammates down and the fight is getting too hectic? Pop barricade, run like the wind, escape to safety. Holed up in a good situation and just want to peek around and shoot the bad guys? Peek more safely, kill the enemies, and be treated to an orb of light when the barricade breaks. There's certainly many other scenarios where this would benefit the player as well. The utility provided by this exotic would be primarily for PVE, though there could be some benefit in PVP. Getting an orb of light is always useful, and through manipulating some underlying systems, the barricade could have significant aim-assist while reducing aim-assist on players in the direct vicinity of the barricade. This would be a much stronger ability on console, but still could have benefits on PC. The Implementation: The barricade object would be treated like a real player, and thus enemy AI would go through there usual checks of threat. The barricade would have a cone or rectangle of influence shooting forward from it (invisible to the player) that generates the same level of threat that players shooting an enemy would generate. When HP of the barricade hits 0, then spawn an orb of light. The Business Decision: Exotic armors are most likely easy to add into the game (the term easy is relative to adding other systems/mechanics into the game – Most of game design is not easy). The creation of this exotic from a programming and art perspective would be the easy part, while ensuring that it is balanced and encounters are enhanced by it would be of medium difficulty. The impact though would be minimal (once again, a relative term). Adding different ways to play into the game will always benefit Destiny, but exotics rarely offer the appeal that will keep a player truly engaged in the game. Story content (strikes/raids), repeatable activities, and new gameplay systems will always offer more bang for Bungie’s buck. Easy to implement combined with minimal impact means that Bungie could implement this idea someday, but probably with a full expansion rather than annual pass dlc content, as they probably already have a pipeline full of exotics. The Summary: A new Titan exotic that allows Barricades to aggro enemies would provide much more utility to any encounter. The barricade would essentially be treated as a real player and provide an orb of light to anyone who sticks around. This would be easy to implement into the game, but with a low impact and the likelihood that Bungie has many exotics in their development pipeline already, we would probably not see this implemented until a full expansion or sequel.
