Pinnacle Weapons (Power & Availability)

The hunt for Pinnacle weapons is great and rewarding. And obtaining and showing them off even better. But when you hear your fellow guardians complaining about there power and the grind to get them maybe we should stop and take a look. It's true that the Lunas Howl & the Not Forgotten are very powerfull weapons. And the grind to obtain them can be to much for some people, or just not viable from a FIRETEAM or TIME based perspective. So how can we distribute the wealth of power a little bit more evenly. I must state for the record that i do not believe that the Lunas & Not Forgotten are over powered, and a weapon in the hands of a poor user is just that "A WEAPON". With a little time and dedication both the lunas and not-forgotten can be overcome fairly easily. As the real key to there power is a succession of precision hits. And if that precision cannot be obtained it's just another hand cannon. ** Plus i think we should stick to the policy stated by bungie when D2 was released and that was NO NURFS. So with that in mind lets look at our options. ** 1). Open up the path to obtain each seasons pinnacle reward in quickplay. This path would be considerably more time consuming & could be approached of multiple seasons without the fear of end of season reset. 2) Add new weapons to some of the higher tier components of the game that can drop with the pinnacle perk for the season in question. (these rolls could be obtained in The Reckoning, NIGHTFALLS, THE RAID, (and possibly can randomly drop post game after hitting legend rank 5 times in the season)) 3) Add an alternative QUICKPLAY version of the weapon. That looks unique to the quick-play mode (in both name, and visuals) Similar to what was done with the broadsword. I personally think some of the above options are more viable here but lets put all our cards on the table. 4) Bring up the power of all other weapons in the game. 5) Pinnacle or High End weapon mods. These mods would open up after hitting a set amount of resets in both PVP and PVE, and could possibly allow player to attach a luna's howl mod onto a legendary hand-cannon of choice. As long as it belongs to the same archetype of the pinnacle weapon for that particular season. 6) Make the LH and NF an exotic, removing the possibility of running the WardCliff along-side them. Forcing more loadout variety. And secondly all hand-cannons should have a significant recoil reduction (this one was suggestion by CammyCakes in his video published March 19th,2019) - Wayne

  • The problem is all other weapons besides bygones and the recluse are terrible compared to anything in the 180 class. Giving everybody service revolver doesnt fix 180’s being the problem theyve completely broken the balance of the game and bungie giving everybody service revolver instead of fixing them just shows they have no clue how to do it. All of the pvp “elites” cry everytime these op crutch weapons get nerfed all the way back to d1 so bungies scared to do it if they would buff auto and make the competitive up to medium range a lot of this would be solved but then all the streamers would cry about getting killed by them and right back to 3 hit kill 180’s we would go

    • Here's a question: Since LH and NF are the source of these problems, would the simplest solution be to just reduce them so that they no longer cause a significant problem? Instead working around the problem with these attempts at shortening the power gap, why not just cut out the issue at the source by directly addressing the offending items in question?

        • Let me also state whilst I remember. I think that the introduction of the thorn and the “Service Revolver” have closed the hand cannon gap in a big way. (Especially in the range and TTK department) - so good work on that Bungie. But having a chance to role the seasons particular Pinnacle Perk, or something similar to it on on a weapon like the service revolver would be even Better. (See original post for implementation ideas)
