I'll poo-poo this idea. The last thing I want is Billy No-Lifer being able to just collect a bunch of engrams, trash them all, and then pop a god-roll out whenever they feel like it / have a token. A lot of people worked a long time to get perfect or near perfect rolls on items, and basically just handing them out to people smacks of the Y1->Y2 D1 move. I get where this comes from, and it's not a terrible idea. But it removes any value or respect for peoples currently invested time, and succeeds in making precisely 0 items special.

what if you could set the roll in collections from a weapon you have currently. for example say i have a nameless midnight with zen moment kill clip and thats what i think is "god roll". but say scouts aren't good at the moment but i don't have room and id hate to lose that roll. would it make sense to you if i could save that roll as my collection roll so i could purchase it whenever i want since i have already had the gun? i agree you shouldn't be able to pick the exact rolls you want. you should have to earn that roll.

Locking a roll in is fine for me, as you could simply Ishtar transfer it between character, so there is no huge issue.
