The Vanguard shall 'Hold the line'

To all those who intend to side with the drifter. To every guardian who has chosen to forgo his duty to the vanguard and side with this entity known as the 'Drifter' the Praxic Order has a message for you. When the Fallen houses united to take the Last City Down, the Vanguard held the line. When a Vex Mind intended to devour the Black Garden, the Vanguard held the line. When the Taken King invaded and nearly destroyed everything we hold dear, the Vanguard held the line. When the SIVA took over the sacred IRON Temple, the Vanguard held the line. When the Cabal destroyed our City, took all our loot, We drove them back & the Vanguard held the line. When Argos & Val Ca'our tried to destroy the Leviathan, The vanguard held the line. When our mentor Cayde was killed, we took revenge on the Scorn. The Vanguard held the line. When the Black Armory had to be protected, the Vanguard stepped up & held the line. And now as the Drifter deceives countless guardians to fall for the darkness, to partake in this game which has bought nothing but destruction to the vanguard order. The praxic order shall stay strong. Dispel this corruption from our land & the Vanguard will hold the Line. The city shall not fall. The guardians will not fall.

  • Vanguard shall hold the line my ass. Who held the line at twilight gap? Shaxx, in direct disobedience of vanguard orders. Who kicked the vex’s ass in the black garden? The godslayer with the help of the exo stranger. Who stopped croata? The god slayer. Who stopped skolas? The god slayer. Who -blam!-ed oryx right in the ass? The godslayer did with the help of cayde, in direct defiance of vanguard orders, and Eris morn, an independent guardian not linked to the vanguard anymore. Who ended the SIVA crisis? The godslayer (again) with the help of Saladin and his new iron lords. Who beat ghaul, the red legion, and retook our home? The godslayer, who had to whip the lightless vanguard into shape as they scattered to the wind. Who saved us from the danger of penoptes? The godslayer who also saved Osiris. Who saved Rasputin and ended Xol? The mother-blam!-ing godslayer. Who dealt with the issues on the leviathan? The godslayer. Who avenged cayde? The godslayer against Zavala’s orders which were to “hold the line.” Who helped the black armory? The godslayer. Now the godslayer must chose between the vanguard and drifter, and due to how little the vanguard has helped them, I wouldn’t blame the godslayer from choosing the drifter.

    • To everyone telling me that the vanguard didn't do anything. It was all us. I would just say while we accomplished all those things we did it as part of the vanguard. We represented the guardians and all of actions carry weight. We did it for this community. The Drifter wants to break that apart, guardians of the light who followed him have fallen victim to his games. No more.

      • Argos, Val Ca'our, the Scorn Barons, Black Armoury.... those were all unsanctioned ops, nothing to do with the Vanguard. The Praxic Order don't tolerate relics of the Dark in Guardian hands, but will happily accept would-be Dredgens back into the ranks after some 're-education'. And excuse me, but when did we turn to the Captain America philosophy of "We don't trade lives"? Sacrifices have to be made, even the Traveler understands this.

      • Sorry but the Praxic Order should have no authority over The Guardian, to think you can control a godslayer is already a stupid thought process, but to think you can push them to join a certain side, only gives an opposite effect. The Praxic Order kicked Osiris form the City and guess what, if he stayed with us in contact, Saint-14 would still be alive, the prophecies could have prevented the Red War's huge number of Casualties. If the Vanguard is ok with the Drifter, then that's final, because when the Deep comes we will need to use the Deep, hell even The Gunslinger knows this... and he understands Sorrows Road more than all of us.
The Sixth House doesn't welcome Paracausal entities...
• The drifter isn’t tricking guardians into being corrupted by the darkness though...

I’m not against the Vanguard, but I have corrections to make:
When the Fallen houses united to take the Last City Down, the Vanguard held the line.
Shaxx and his Fireteam held the line, saw an opening, and broke the Fallen attack. Saladin was directing the battle as the acting Vanguard Commander and called a retreat, which Shaxx ignored.
When a Vex Mind intended to devour the Black Garden, the Vanguard held the line.
The Black Garden belonged to the Vex. There they kept and worshipped the Black Heart. The Sol Progeny (3 Vex Minds harnessing the power of the Heart) were gathering their strength there, and if they had been allowed to leave, the results would have been catastrophic. The Stranger sent us there. The Vanguard tagged along a little, bit only really took charge after the Black Garden was reconnected with our world.
When the Taken King invaded and nearly destroyed everything we hold dear, the Vanguard held the line.
Yeah, they did pretty well. But Cayde is the only reason we didn’t end up sitting and waiting for Oryx to kill us. Cayde sent us to the Dreadnaught, disobeying Zavala’s order to stay away from the Dreadnaught.
When the SIVA took over the sacred IRON Temple, the Vanguard held the line.
The Vanguard were hardly involved. Zavala quarantined the Cosmodrome after the Devil Splicers were stopped.
When the Cabal destroyed our City, took all our loot, We drove them back & the Vanguard held the line.
We didn’t hold the line at all, but the Vanguard did their best, even though they got shaken pretty badly and split up. They did good, mostly.
When Argos & Val Ca'our tried to destroy the Leviathan, The vanguard held the line.
Honestly, I don’t know much about this. I’m behind on a few bits of lore like this one.
When our mentor Cayde was killed, we took revenge on the Scorn. The Vanguard held the line.
Technically yes. Ikora wanted to send an army of Guardians to avenge Cayde. But Zavala said not to, because something like that would end in more Guardian deaths. Just to kill a few rogue Fallen (though they were actually a notable threat). In this case, holding the line wasn’t necessarily right or good, but it spared lives.
When the Black Armory had to be protected, the Vanguard stepped up & held the line.
The Vanguard has nothing to do with that…
And now as the Drifter deceives countless guardians to fall for the darkness, to partake in this game which has bought nothing but destruction to the vanguard order.
The Vanguard see no immediate harm or threat from Gambit, and are still looking into long term. The Drifter’s full intentions are unknown, but “making Guardians fall to darkness” is a gross exaggeration.
The praxic order shall stay strong. Dispel this corruption from our land & the Vanguard will hold the Line. The city shall not fall. The guardians will not fall.
HOO-RAH!

      • Vanguard didn’t really do anything about Cayde. The revenge on the Scorn was all us, no Vanguard stuff involved. Also, as much as I know Drifter is a shady character and one who can’t be trusted, I need answers. And he has them. If I stayed with the Vanguard, I would never be able to get close enough to find out what his endgame is. Plus, with the Nine involved, that makes this whole thing even harder to sort out. He’s a bad guy, but I gotta take risks if I want to uncover the truth.

      • Man, I don't think the Vanguard "held the line" against Ghaul, neither with Argos & Val Ca'our. With Ghaul, the line was crossed already, the Vanguard only stopped Ghaul afterwards. With Argos & Val Ca'our, the Vanguard had no business with Calus. He invited US, the Guardian, to do his bidding. The Vanguard had nothing to do with him. Fact is, the City leadership is not the same since the Red War, thus allowing Aunor to "rise to power". My bet is she will try to become the City's new leader (kind of what the Speaker was), and stablish a dictatorship
