I understand some people might have issues with this at first glance mainly because "I got my flawless runs and did well in trials I want to stay unique and use my armor no one else can have". Trust me, i get it, i have 15 flawless runs too in d2 and while im sure im not among the top tier players, im sure you'd agree i have my fair share of pvp wins. Allow me to try and convince you as to why adding this gear would be a benefit for us ALL. The one thing i will acknowledge is perhaps the "flawless" versions of the armor could be reserved for those trials players and not added to the pool. In my opinion I wouldn't lock the flawless versions away because they are simply useless right now anyway and they look so darn cool that top tier PvE players who can do high level reckoning should be rewarded too, though I can see how avid players of trials would not like the idea of letting non-pvpers get the trials flawless gear. Why? Gives people who don't enjoy gambit a reason to play through reckoning. Relatively easy to implement as all the gear is in the game, they would just need to be updated with random rolls. Adds a lot of replay value to Tiers 1 and 2 which will become essentially useless once tier 3 is unlocked. Allows you to endlessly grind for rewards without using synths. Stops that boring blue auto-dismantle drop when you "collect loot" at the end of a reckoning without using a synth. Gives a chance for players who joined with Forsaken a later to earn some of the best looking gear in the game. Bungie already stated that Trials isn't coming back anytime soon so the gear is going unused anyway. Current Trials gear is unusable in the year 2 meta due to no mod slot, old perks and no random rolls etc. Heres how I would add them to the drop tables though this is just a really quick example im sure they could be altered many times. Items marked with a * are debatable and I provide reasoning and/or dicussion further down. Reckoning tier 1: Sidearm SMG Sniper Legs Reckoning tier 2: Auto rifle Scout rifle Arms Chest Reckoning tier 3: Helm Hand Cannon Pulse rifle Sword Triumphs Complete Tier 3 within X ammount of time - Helm ornament Complete Tier 3 without any deaths - Chest ornament etcetcetc...you get the idea. Cosmetics Sparrow - random drop from any tier Ship - random drop from any tierGhost - random drop from any tier * Flawless Armor Once per week (per character) via a special bounty * Edit: Even though i originally stated at the top of my post the notion that I would greatly consider peoples feelings toward the Flawless versions of the armor sets, I guess people somehow missed that? Let me clarify again. I have all sets and ornaments, I have them, I know what its like to want to feel special and unique, the problem is: I don't. They are unusable pieces of gear that don't make me feel good. None of the pvp guns have pvp perks and the armor is literally useless, there is about as much semblance to trials as there is with anything else. Not only this, but d2 trials was the most underplayed and underhyped game mode version of any iteration of trials from d1, hardly anyone even bothered to try to get it. Another point, the guns and armor (again not the flawless) were all obtainable by anyone, not for being good, but for tokens, you could just stroll up and with enough luck/games played you could get everything. If trials still existed, my suggestion wouldn't even be one, but its gone for good, clarified by Bungie, it's not coming back for a long time (and if it does not in the form it was at launch). You might think these are a status symbol but truthfully they aren't. The ornaments for the armor were released in CoO, the least played DLC in destiny history, and even less so players in trials. Its not exactly an acomplishment in my eyes and I did the damn thing. At the end of the day, you have your stats and you have your emblem, that is your symbol to say I am good at trials, no one is trying to take it away for you, they are simply trying to add more content and replay value in a way that perfectly fits the theme and makes sense for all. Have a nice day <3 Edit 2: Im going to try and clear up some of the confusion and/or answer some frequent questions (or angry comments) i've had about certain points because I seem to be repeating myself a lot so this might be of help to you. Q: Why not just make new gear 4head every activity should have its own gear. A: In a perfect world...sure. I'm trying to be realistic. This is a suggestion that solves many issues in the game right now while being as little effort required on Bungies part as possible, making it more likely the idea is considered. If they were thinking about making Nine themed gear for reckoning, they'd have already done it. They can't magic assests and programming out of thin air. Nine gear isn't in the game, which means there were no plans for it both now or later this season. There is only so much a physical artist, 3D modeler, sound designer, programmer, designer etc can do within the time constraints they have. They clearly are working on other things and im of the mindset that they dont just sit around a campfire singing songs after the season of content releases, they go in to work, and work they do. My suggestion is a solution to many problems but most of all its feasable to do. Q: This is PvP gear, why should PvE players get it? A: Are we playing different games? Why should anyone be locked out of anything if they are willing to put in the work? I'm sure the majority of people play both pvp and pve because thats sort of the point. At the end of the day PvP is more of a complimentary mode than its own thing anyway. This might be a weak defence on my part and truthfully people who ask me this don't want their mind changed anyway. They are avid PvP players and thats that. They'd rather no one be able to use the gear (since its useless year 1 stuff) than give more players a chance to get it. Q: The gear was rare and value! Throwing it in a random PvE would be like giving handouts? A: No, actually it was quite the opposite. For those that weren't around in D2 Y1, the trials gear (with the exception of flawless armor + ghost) was all obtainable via tokens and/or hawthornes clan handouts. This was perhaps the LEAST coveted gear we've ever had. You could have a 0.1 k/d and play enough games/get lucky to rack up the tokens and buy it all, if that makes you a cool pvp'er then im not sure we're on the same page. Q: I worked hard for my flawless gear this would be so unfair, how would you feel if you worked for it? A: I did, i have every flawless set for every character with ornaments and all. I literally have it all, I am one of those players you keep talking about, and I dont find it the slightest bit unfair. Now im sure i don't represent all of us (even if we are a very small minority of players) so i'd be willing to let the flawless armor go, if people really feel attached to it and want their acomplishments remembered then fine, they can keep the flawless armor and the emblem which details their trials statistics. Q: What if we just shoved prestige raid gear into quickplay, thats what youre saying right? A: Well, if you only see it like that im afraid youre really missing the point at what im trying to acomplish (see the original points above). The problem here is that the raids still exist, you can get them if you work for them, unlike trials which is 100% confirmed to not be coming back anytime soon, and when/if it eventually does it wont be how we remember it and would likely come with its own new gear anyway. Right now the gear is useless, they were handouts as explained previously, not rare elusive items like prestige raid gear. The comparison would be more akin to public event gear in quickplay, which would be fine. Q: Could they make new/reskined Nine gear (not entirely new models or sounds etc just reskins) and then have ornament slots for those who went flawless in Trials to use them on? A: This was a really cool idea actually and i'd have to agree mostly. It would take a small bit more work than just updating the existing guns/armor for year 2 random rolls but the solution would be that the flawless players can actually USE their trials sets via the ornaments with year 2 perks, mods, etc instead of them sitting in the vault for all eternity. Lets be perfectly honest here, the guns and armor right now see no use. They are worthless and are simply untouched potential to bring life and replayability to the reckoning mode which simultaniuously solving multiple issues such as those I highlighted before, all with minimal work required. In my world we call that a win-win situation. Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom! If you still have questions (or angry comments, I can handle it promise) then keep them coming. Im enjoying the discussion even if this eventually fades into nothingness without even a glance from a Bungie employee.
