Patrols/Free Roam with 3+ people

Why can we only do patrols with 3 people? I went to do an Escalation Protocol with 4 of my friends and we couldn't, which I can't see the reason for having a 3 people limit. It would be nice if this was removed, or if there was a reason for this.

  • anyone else remember loading up a 6 stack for the VoG just go -blam!- around on Venus? Pretty much why every raid after that patrol was blocked off. Or on the Dreadnaught, they spawned you in the court so you couldn't activate/participate in it.

    • They talked about increasing the size of planetary fireteam dams for the purpose of Escalation Protocol, but by leaving it in Year 1 nobody is raising any massive complaints. The go around method for this is to get a blueberry in the same area to allow a friend of yours to join their fireteam. Inviting them to a party or sending a message does the trick. So basically it would be you and two friends in one fireteam then blueberry and Last friend in other fireteam

        • The easiest fix that would probably make people happy is setting up like an escalation protocol activity icon off map that would match make. Then you hop in a queue and wait. This would take some time to create a map that would accomodate, since you couldn't have people in the social area this way. But, this would take time and development resources that they just don't currently have for something that is considered a few seasons old activity. The other thought would be to just level cap the area at like 400. They stated before with the right gear and coordination, a fireteam of 3 at 385 can do it (which my fireteam got up to 5 when we were 385). But, my fireteam of 650 has not a chance due to damage scaling for some odd reason. So if they capped the activity at say 400, it would be much easier grind for powerful guardians, but still be a challenge for anyone without the extra content passes.

              Do as I do Start a party chat Be friendly And ask a random blueberry if they wouldn't mind inviting your friend (Max 2) into their fireteam when you're at location like EP And if they are wanting to leave, ask them to give the fireteam over to your pals, before they leave (thus opening up space to add someone else) [b]Don't be an asshat to the blueberry, don't boot them[/b], be polite, have a laugh, help them if they need it You might just make another friend for the fireteam (I did this when Warmind dropped & still regularly get 6-8 people from my clan into EP - it was carnage & a great laugh) 👍

                • Because most of the areas have way too few enemies for 9 like ep can support so that can't match make in Bungo has refused to do anything about this But you can setup a team of 6 for raid so we should be allowed more

                • Chat party holds 8. Raid fireteam holds 6. Strikes and Patrols hold 3. Check this out... Here in Texas, a long long time ago, we had split speed limits. The"Tater" did a fairly funny and incredibly accurate skit about it. Nowdays, it's the exact same for everybody. I want 8 man fireteam for everything, but would settle quietly for 6.

                • Dude, we have literally been asking for this since day 1, year 1, Destiny 1. By ignoring our request for 6 man patrols, Bungie has made it abundantly clear that they do not give a -blam!- about us. Please, stop asking Bungie for things, they don't care. Just stop playing this terrible game.

                  • Well i can hardly get anyone on my friends list to play destiny 2 so to me there is not point to patrol more than 3. Also we have been asking for this for a life time already but you know..bungo is listening and all. Good luck.

                    They can keep the fireteam size as-is, but if they merely made it so that you don't get booted to orbit when you leave a fireteam, this would allow friends to fairly easily gather in a given zone. For example, if you wanna get 9 people into a zone, 3 of you travel to the location, all leave fireteam (yet stay in the zone since you now aren't booted to orbit), then those 3 individually invite the remaining 6. This way Bungie doesn't have to make changes to fireteam size, max zone occupancy, or anything else in a zone that may depend on those things. Just remove the boot-to-orbit function when leaving a fireteam!

                    • Bungie makes 9 man activities in social areas of a maximum of 3 man fire teams because Bungie isn't intelligent. We literally have no reason for it outside of that. It has been a problem since Destiny 1.

                          • At least change it to 4. I think 6 is a bit excessive, but whatever, I would still be all for it. Just know that your damage and durability are slightly reduced with more people on your fireteam.

                          • Patrols zones are too easy with more than 3. You can get too much stuff too fast if you had 6. Couldn't you imagine what would happen if 6 people were canvasing for patrols? Oh, wait, nothing because patrols are stupid and they don't really give you anything. Also public events would be too easy. Oh, wait, I do public events laying on my side drunk. I think this is leftover from the original D1 idea that you'll meet people in the wild and become friends. Well we didn't, we had to go to reddit and the100. The other thing is that you can get 9 into instance you just have to spend 10 to 30 minutes loading into the same zone to do it. Doing EP with 9 is as much fun as I have had playing D2. I am hoping the Activision divorce helps some of this but frankly I am not too optimistic. I am starting to feel like the stubborn party may be in house.

                          • Its designed that way because a Patrol zone can only hold so many people. They don't want to rework their servers to be able to accommodate larger groups. But it would be cool to have 3 raid sized groups running Escalation Protocal. LoL

                            • Have all 4 of you load into the same area on Mars solo. When you come across a friend both of you invite 1 of your other friends. Now all 4 are in the same area. Not ideal but only option.
