1) Invest 200 legendary shards at the Spider when he has simulationseeds for shards to offer.
2) Exchange those simulation seeds (1k for 200 shards) at Brother Vance on Mercury, since he drops more masterworked weapon and armor than any other vendor.
3) When you exchanged almost all simulationseeds (hold 50-100 for infusions) and dismantled all the useless year1-weapons and armor, you shouldve gotten a few ECs from the masterworked year1-gear. Dismantle the shaders too, they are worth shards if you dont to use them.
When i do this i end up with 170-180 shards and 5-10 ECs so i "paid" 20-30 shards for 5-10 ECs and had some clicking to do.
Since its RNG, no guarantee! Bad runs gave me only 3 ECs while good runs gave more than 10.
Only do this, if you can spare 200 shards, cause you dont know if and when Bungie will eventually fix this ?!
Hope it helps the folks who cant get enough ECs by just playing the game.

It's easier just to exploit the Oracle Engine exploit that lets you open an infinite number of Oracle offering chests, which Bungie claims they patched, but is still broken. At least then you don't have to go anywhere or buy anything, you just sit there holding down X. Bonus, you can get as much Reverie armor and weapons as you can carry, as well as other Dreaming City stuff.
