NO D3! Destiny is supposed to be an MMO. Would WoW 2 make sense? Well...they need to update their engine-no, shut up! Destiny 2 should not even be a thing, but now that Activision is split form Bungie they can go other directions. This player base lacks basic common sense. D2 needs updates.

Destiny has MMO aspects in it. It's far from an MMO.

Edited by CookieNiki: 2/12/2019 10:13:27 PMDestiny was NEVER supposed to be an MMO, it wasn't even designed to be an MMO, period.

D3 needs to happen. Your opinion on what you think is best, is irrelevant.

Edited by Scythe Sasin: 2/12/2019 3:26:59 AMMate you obviously don't know what a MMO is compared to Destiny. Destiny has elements of an MMO, but unlike a MMO, Destiny is different in the sense that it isn't designed to be a MMO. MMOs generally are always online, third person, and loot based. Destiny is a Looter-Shooter, always online, loot based, and FIRST PERSON(durring actual gameplay). The first person aspect of it changes the genre of the game entirely. There are many other reasons why Destiny isn't an MMO, but I'd rather not waste my time explaining it to the likes of you.

I wouldn’t say the POV changes it entirely.

Well it should have a lot more elements like a rpg than a straight up shooter with little customization. If there is to be a D3 it should be a game that continues ongoing not having to purchase a brand new one every so many years. Call it like "Destiny world" even not even D3 just a continual game this time. You just buy expansions from here on out.
-
Also, this is Bungie, a shooter with little customization is what they do. They aren't Bioware or Blizzard, who are great at making RPG games (MEA excluded). Making a RPG requires a much different development process than what Bungie is used to. Regardless of the fact that Bungie itself doesn't have the infrastructure to support that development process.
-
Just because you believe it should have RPG elements doesn't mean it will. Making a single game that continually gets updates and expansions to for that game is much more difficult than releasing a series of games. It's also extremely difficult to do on console. Since consoles, generally, don't have a lot of storage. One game with multiple expansions will eventually eat through memory space.

Edited by LordAlphaClass: 2/12/2019 4:09:28 AMMassively multiplayer online game. ... A massively multiplayer online game (MMOG, or more commonly, MMO) is an online game with large numbers of players, typically from hundreds to thousands, on the same server. MMOs usually feature a huge, persistent open world, although some games differ. Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter game MMOFPS is an online gaming genre which features a large number of simultaneous players in a first-person shooter fashion. These games provide large-scale, sometimes team-based combat. The addition of persistence in the game world means that these games add elements typically found in RPGs, such as experience points. However, MMOFPS games emphasize player skill more than player statistics, as no number of in-game bonuses will compensate for a player's inability to aim and think tactically. Source: Wikipedia.

Edited by Scythe Sasin: 2/12/2019 3:59:44 PMAnd yet, Destiny isn't an MMO FPS. You put research into this, which makes you infinitely better than 99% of people on this forum. Destiny has MMOFPS structures, yes. But it's classification is Looter-Shooter, regardless of what Wikipedia says. As your source said, MMOFPS focuses primarily on skill. Destiny has that, but Destiny has a heavy focus on player stats, unlike MMOFPS. That is because if the Looter-Shooter aspect of it. A better example of an MMOFPS would be that CSGO. Your research is good, but the concepts behind it don't line up to the mechanics of Destiny. Not to say I'm not impressed, I am. I hope this gives you a better understanding of the differences.

Who said it has to be an MMO. If Bungo did, they clearly forgot. I believe the genre is called "looter shooter".
