I’m surprised this hasn’t been attended to or acknowledged earlier... bit of a hard subject as there should be a happy medium with the rng stuff, it shouldn’t be handed out easily but also there should be a point where a person deserves to receive an item... from my experience I’ve had numerous instances where I’ve ran an event (sherpa’d last wish and shattered throne, helped out with lesser skilled players in ascendant challenges etc) chasing an rng item I need, and yeah you guessed it, I’m left empty handed while a fireteam member gets what I’m chasing... I believe the rng system is manipulated to a degree to slightly cater towards casual players (to immerse them into the game more) and hinder hardcore players (cos bungie know we’ll chase something we want, I know I will) as I’ve seen it countless times not just in my experience but also others, I understand casual players deserve to be included into the game and I’m fine with that, but I don’t think the hardcore players being excluded is cool as they are the players who have supported this game and franchise from day dot.... also from a business perspective, locking people out of seals because of rng is throwing money away basically... i have purchased the seals I have unlocked already and plan to purchase the remaining seals if I somehow get “rng” on my side in the next few weeks (highly doubtful), and as an avid collector of destiny memorabilia I’d love to add more seals to my collection but at this point I don’t think it’s realistically going to happen, and I’m just one example, I’m sure there are many others in the same position... why have something up for sale in a store when there’s a number generator stopping the purchase?? Seems stupid to me

you are actually bang on. Activision owns the algorithm and has the patent on it to take into account your playing amount. those who play less have a more likely chance to receive and item to help convince them to play more, those who play often don't need that carrot and it takes you longer to obtain.. your chance is less than a casuals based on your game time..

Yeah it’s definitely there, I’ve tested it in the past... haven’t logged on in weeks and get something I was chasing.. just baffles me that the seals were an activity for players to grind for if they wished, now there’s a large percentage who have done the grinding aspects of certain seals but are fighting against a system that’s clearly programmed to be against them to finish off those seals

and the fact that real world purchases are tied to a potential lack of ability to buy on rng items is preposterous. I have 25 LW completions.. sherpaed probably 20 noobs through and several others who have 3 or less clears.. I would say 15 got it on the first clear and a couple others on the 2-3rd.. yet.. you guessed it. I don't have it. shattered throne every 3 weeks x 3 characters.. no ship, ascendant challenges every week x 3 characters.. no ghost.. makes you want to give up with absolutely nothing to show for months of grinding. changing the dates of purchase isn't enough in my opinion. Some people want the titles in game and shouldn't have to continue the grind for several more months while they investigate and then look at a solution, then code the solution and have it as part of a hotfix which based on the past, could take until September or longer lol. soooooo frustrating.

I know how you feel, haven’t seen 1 dreaming city cosmetic, probably get thousand voices next year.. sorta what I was getting at about a happy medium... the casual players get the rng items when they have no intentions to do the grindy stuff (which bungie hope tp change) and the hardcore players don’t get the rng items when they’ve done the grindy stuff (which bungie know they’ll keep chasing).. just doesn’t seem justified

exactly. the hardcore players want the titles where the casuals seem for the most part not to care or have the likelyhood of doing everything necessary for the titles. yet its the casuals that get the cosmetics and rng favored and the hardcore are bent over the barrel and dry -blam!-ed with a cactus..
