I'm really disappointed at the stance Bungie has taken on accessability in this game and the effect it's had on the experience of the entire community at the behest of the vocal minority. The latest response we've gotten that there are currently no plans to adjust the infusion system makes no sense. There's no benefit to the system and removing it wouldn't negatively affect anyone's experience. If players like holding onto gear and using whatever drops, they still would have that option. I currently have everything I want/need on my Hunter and I have no desire to log in and play anything. That never happened year one because I never got burned out on having to do things over and over and over again. I haven't played my Titan or Warlock since Forsaken dropped. I have no desire to play either of them because of the ridiculous infusion system and the fact that again, I'm so burned out on having to play things I don't like to get powerful drops vs just playing things I like and progressing. And honestly, PvP is basically dead to me outside of Iron Banner. I despise QuickPlay and what it's become, but it's popular with big name influencers so... Of course it's down to 617k players and if Anthem takes even a portion of the casual PvP players away, it's probably going to hit year one levels of grim, but don't worry, the big time PvP players have a new idea to make Crucible even better, make sniping easier! Currently they're really struggling to get WROoM without DRB, Parcel, Nova Warp, Dawn Blade, Spectral Blades, Luna's, NF, etc. I'm sure that will save the Crucible. I want to enjoy playing Destiny again and with all that was wrong with year one, I never felt this way about the game. I have a VIP access code for the Anthem demo tomorrow. 3 months ago I had no interest in the game. Now? Different story. I still want Destiny to be great and I want it to succeed, but I just don't know what this game is right now and I know it's not being made for a player like me.
I agree with your sentiment. I have not played for over 3 weeks and it's not calling me back yet. The reason is simple and yet not easily fixed. I get disapointed with the reward system, the RNG idiocy and the unbalance in PvP. I'll try to explain it per topic. Reward system/RNG idiocy: Doing a Raid should be rewarding, Last wish is something you do for fun and for a chance on the One Thousand Voices. You get a 1 in 32 chance on the chest, but seeing 3 raids back to back with nobody getting it and myself not dropping it with 7 clears is not a big deal, but i'll be honest it's demotivating. But considering you get a 3% chance to drop on it... well thats RNG for you. You can get bad luck and never drop it in a year time, since you only have 3 shots per week. Other frustration point is not having the nightfall rocket launcher or the Mars sniper, i was in the top 2% time spent on Destiny and simple RNG screws me over. Getting blocked on completing triumphs and titles because of RNG is just idiotic... If you put something on an instance or a specific action, dont make the RNG rate stupid low. Unbalance in PvP: Quick play is frustrating, you get matched up with sweaties or players that are below your skill level. This is to be expected because it's Quick match up, however the ratio sweaties per casual is growing. Add the fact they blocked the pinacle grenade launcher behind unobtainable quest parts for a casual. There is no real reason to play PvP as a casual. Loved the misconception from bungie tho, you get better % increased in competitive ignoring the fact it's easier in competitive get a 2-3 kill streak with grenade launchers. In order to stay alive to get a 3 kill streak i would recon it's easier to do so with 4v4 than with 6v6. Especially on the -blam!- small maps. (seriously... maps designed for 2v2 and then playing 6v6 on them?) Shotguns are 1 hit wonders for any monkey that uses them, with slide perks they are imbalanced even. Yet a grenade launcher has to make 2 shots to get a kill most of the times, sometimes even on a direct hit you won't one shot kill if you have the exact right perks. Because i'm ranting i'll add another personal frustration. DPS issues: Launching a raid where you are not able to decently DPS the boss even when you are max light level is stupid. It's come to the point where you have to use a specific weapon to do enough DPS, like clusterbomb rocket launchers on LW(well thats acually due to over-enginering mechanics and players who find a strat to avoid them) or WotW on SotP. If you are underleveled that makes sense, but max LL should give you freedom to play how you like with what you like. In short Bungie; STOP FOCUSING ON THE 1% PLAYERS. listen to your community and remove the infusion system for armor! Stop time-gating, instead put it behind a quest or activity, but don't make something once a month accesible or worse. Stop RNG-ing everything, when it doesn't matter, nobody cares about RNG, but when you need it to complete or achieve something it is KILLING the game-experience.
