2 week ban

I just got a notification out of the blue that I received a 2 week ban in crucible because of my instable connection. I haven't had many opposing players complaining to me about my connection when playing crucible and am certainly not manipulating my network as my win ratio would be much higher if that were the case. The connection I use is the fastest available but I do play on wifi and it usually does not give me problems. Could someone explain to me why I got banned and the justification? Maybe I am missing something ? Edit: Apparently something has changed as I can load into any crucible game mode again. Still wondering what happened and if I should fix my connection before getting back in there.. Edit 2: Apparently it just had to get set into place ! After logging off and on again I have now got restricted access to the crucible. Gonna try to make sure this doesn't happen again and to everyone who replied thanks for all the advice !

  • In addition to what others have said....just because no one messages you about your connection, that doesn’t mean your connection isn’t problematic or that they don’t notice it. Speaking from my personal experience, I just report players & don’t message them if they are lagging.

Wifi can be interfered with by many common day-to-day things and even a microscopic hiccup is enough for Destiny to record a problematic condition. It has an extremely low threshold for interference, meaning it needs a persistent premium connection (low latency / zero packet loss) - not a high bandwidth one. Therefore having the biggest bandwidth package is not really a benefit is it still has latency or packet loss. Even using ethernet can still result in hiccups, but it is more likely to be prominent with wifi, and you may not even notice it, but Destiny will. That's the best probable explanation you will see most likely, without any direct testing. Bungie will not discuss reasons for bans etc.
