We can’t masterwork guns because we have to spend all of our cores on infusion

I thought the whole point of cores were to masterwork weapons and armor. I can’t do either of these, I’ve masterworked 2 weapons since forsaken came out and not masterworked any armor at all because it costs so much and I can’t save cores because I need to infuse my weapons so I can actually use them. Plz remove cores from infusion so ppl can use them for what they were originally designed for. I want to masterwork my gear. Also if you’re coming on to say that enhancement cores are easy to get and that you should just play the game, then just leave. You aren’t too good for infusion to be fixed, so get over yourselves. The way the economy is set up is forcing you to spend all ur enhancement cores on infusing if you want to use ur gear without having ur light drop significantly. I play these game often and many others do too and many of them have to choose between infusing and masterworking. We shouldn’t have to choose between the 2. We should be able to use and look how we want without being penalized Here’s another edit because ppl are misinterpreting what I’m saying. This is a whiney, complaint post, it come off like but that’s not what I’m trying to do. The infusion economy is flawed. The point of what I’m saying overall is that masterwork cores were created for masterworking not infusing. It defeats the whole purpose of them. It’s comepletely unnecessary and just increases the artificial grind, they should just do what thy were created to do in the 1st place which is masterworking gear. Also for those of you who comment stuff like “masterwork cores are easy to get just play the game” I understand that and I know they are fairly easy to get, the problem is that right when you get them they are usually just used for infusion right away. I’ve gotten hundreds of cores but I keep running out because I want to play with my weapons without taking a massive hit in my power level. U see that’s the problem if you want to use the guns that you want to play with u must continual keep dumping cores into infusing, and you use them almost as soon as you get them, unless you hoard them and have a crap ton. Players want to be able to play and look how they want without coughing up more cores every time they get a new god roll or want to infuse an old weapon. And for the love of god ppl stop acting like you’re “too good” for enhancement cores being removed from infusion. Get over yourselves. Lastly if you have a crap ton of cores that you hoarded or saved up, just know that many ppl do not have as much time as you to play this game. I plant this game very often and even I don’t usually have any cores stored away so I can’t imagine how much worse infusion is for casuals. The point is other ppl have trouble with cores and just because u don’t have problems with it doesn’t mean you should come on here and berate ppl for trying to fix a legitimate problem in the economy. Stop trying to ruin it for ppl who don’t have as much cores as you do, it really isn’t a big deal and will help you out as well. Also just wanted to say sry if I lose my temper and get in a fight with ya. Just frustrated with ppl trying to ruin this for those less fortunate than themselves. So if you’re coming here to brag about how easy the cores are to get and how it doesn’t need to be fixed please just don’t post
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. ummm yeah speak for yourself. I have plenty of masterworked weapons, several armour sets and have about 75 in the vault. ITs all about how you manage your inventory. If you have only masterworked 2 weapons, using what is it 34 cores in 6 months.. you are doing something wrong, plain and simple. You don't need to upgrade every peice of gear you get right when you get it. You choose to and you waste your cores. I would love to know what you mean when you say you play often. If you don't have time to play, then you don't get the materials, that is pretty simple. Why should a person who plays little have the same rewards as those who play a pile? You reap what you sow. Earn your materials by playing more if that is what you need. edit 1. sorry dude but, the game has been out for 16 months. and you have 387 hours in game.. thats not often at all, that is far less than 1 hour a day. don't expect to have the same access to materials as those who play 1 hour or 2 hours a day, let alone those who play as a daily hobby for several hours a day. You want that kind or access to materials, you have to play alot more.

    • If you need to master work a weapon to be able to use it you are a idiot, sorry but it's true. Any armor masterwork is 100% pointless. You can get 21 cores per week with very minimal effort,I average 30 cores per week and I'm far from a hardcore gamer.I have at least 30 master worked weapons between my 3 characters and I do not switch weapons so that means even more infusing and I still have 190 cores. All the crap weapons and armor(IE bad rolls) you get start looking at there master work progress,5 or higher on weapons gives you a core when dismantled and 4 or more on armor gives you a core.

    • the economy is not broken, you said yourself, you "know they are fairly east to get" so get the cores and do what you want with them. cores are doing exactly what they are designed for having the player make a meaningful choice in what they want. you want to use your better devils and only that - fine you can. there is nothing saying you have to run another gun. and you have a choice - use the better devils at 602 or upgrade it to 603. which will make it so much more powerful.

Mastworking is micromanagement for the time when you have nothing to infuse (in that case when you hit max. Power cap).

It’s the only reason I miss the Dawning! I fully masterworked 4 weapons during that time from all the cores I kept getting for baking stuff. Now I barely have enough to infuse some boots :(

    • For anyone that is coming in to play D2 fresh, the enhancement core is going to be a major hindrance for them. I definitely don’t get the same feeling playing anymore... Half of the regular raid group in D1 went to PC but have now entirely stopped playing. 1 person didn’t even buy D2, and the other stopped playing back in September. It’s been feeling like a chore for some time, and I’m definitely glad there are some fresh games on the horizon that’ll pull me away from a game that has stopped feeling like it is rewarding the players time and effort.

      • So many players defending a broken system. Stop with the “buy from spider” because at most you buy 2-3 other wise your waisting your shards. Also not everyone infuses everything. I sure don’t. But just because some of you play everyday and feel like its easy to get cores doesn’t mean its easy for everyone else. A good amount of players are tired of enhancement cores being needed for infusing.

      • Players who put in many hours/day have no problem with masterworking gear. Most of us work jobs and many of us have families on top of that. Destiny became a second job, was no longer fun, and that is why I chose to uninstall the game. Great gameplay/mechanics, terrible progression and loot system.

          • To a degree, I see where you’re coming from. I don’t LOVE that EC’s are required for infusion. However, I play this game very little compared to others - check my history. I main a Titan...my other 2 toons are hardly touched because I know what time I have to spend and therefore play accordingly. I look the way I want, my gear is masterworked, my primary and secondary are masterworked, my heavy is not. And so what? I can play just fine with weapons that aren’t masterworked too.
I have 5 EC’s in my inventory
• TL:DR version: I want to be handed stuff. You DO NOT NEED cores to infuse. You just need to infuse with like items. Costs you 5000 glimmer. Problem solved.

                  • It's funny how I've played plenty of games where I had fully maxed out gear and still enjoyed playing the game every single day, because it was fun. Grinding and hoarding ECs is _not_ fun. Getting to play PvP with maxed out gear that plays to my strengths in terms of playstyle is fun. Being forced to play PvP with underlevelled, non-MWed gear with all the wrong perks, is not so fun. I thought Bungie made a vow to bring the fun back, or something.

                      • The real problem. And the reason why despite being super irritated with this forum siege, I actually do agree with taking cores out of infusion.

Agreed, they've lost their original meaning. Cores should be used exclusively for masterworking our gear. Also, they need to change armor masterworking back to allow stat changing. I'm not spending 10 (?) cores per peice just for some miniscule amount of damage resistance in my super, which isn't actually going to make a difference.

So many people defending Bungie poorly thought out design changes that are clearly intended to increase the grind for no real good reason. Bungie just doesn't seem to be able to balance much of anything. They went from D1's overflowing economy to D2's grind your azz off. Some middle ground would be nice. People want to play the game not farm for hours FML. In a game they claim focuses on character customization, yet basically negates that by inflating the grind to the point that it's just not worth your time. So like a lot of ppl, I end up using the highest gear that drops until they I get to max level then customize. Not how I want to play but it's far more palatable then farming just so I can customize. I don't expect things to be handed to me but I shouldn't need to spend 8 hours a day on a game to get anywhere. Most people have lives / should have lives! If you honestly don't think there's a problem with this kind of inflated grind then you likely have a problem.
