A few thoughts on Destiny 2 and main issues from a casual point of view.

Yes, bring it in to reality

No, I think it's a bad idea

I really don't care, just let me play already

Destiny 2 starts out with an interesting system at first, it even seems fair, since everything is completely random. Everything from weapon perks to drops. But after spending hundreds of hours chasing that specific roll and that specific armor piece or weapon, you still have to settle for the next best thing (in some cases even third, fourth or fifth best thing). The grind for that armor piece that'll fit you perfectly or that roll on your scout rifle/pulse rifle/auto rifle/hand cannon etc that'll complete your "build", after a while it becomes pointless. When that pointless feeling comes around, the game is losing a lot of it's value and most players will chose to move on and foolishly come back with the next expansion hoping things are better this time. And they are, amazingly they are better. For a while you completely forget about perks, rolls, values and so on, because you have unexplored content to explore, you have new unoptained items to obtain and during that chase, you might get what you wanted so many months ago, just to find, that with the changes that came with the game, those values are no longer what you need. With that the grind starts all over again, only to come to the same conclusion as previous, because nothing have changed beside the sandbox, you're back in the same pointless situation again with the same pointless grind. There needs to be a system in place, to give the pointless grind a point again and I think I have a suggestion on how to solve this. I'm by now means saying it's the perfect system, but it's far better than what we have now. Enhancement of gear: It would help out a lot, if we could enhance our gear, in such a way, that it will have what we want it to have. For example, During a strike I come across a set of gauntlets, which is of the mobile variant, with Scout Rifle and Autorifle loader, Fusion Rifle Reserves and Sniper Rifle Scavenger. I love the look of them, but the perks makes them completely pointless to my build and thus every single pair of gauntlet of that type have 0 value to me. But what if I could enhance them, to have the perks I'm looking for on my build? From other armor pieces, I've managed to extract 10 Restorative archetypes, 10 Pulse Rifle Loader and 10 Special Ammo Finder, and with those and x amount of gunsmith material, x amount of legendary shards and x amount of planetary resources aswell as 10 Enhancement Cores, I can now get the base version of those applied to the armor piece. Raise the cost to 2.5 times the base value after that, for the enhanced version. Now all of those armor pieces I've found and dismantled without even checking their properties, because I didn't like the look of them in the first place have value, now all of the hours spent grinding for that perfect piece isn't wasted. As for keeping things in balance for hour PvP side of things, Enhanced Scavenger perks shouldn't have more effect than the regular Scavenger Perk. I'd love to hear other players having any thoughts on this matter and I'll make a post, as I think it'll make it easier for bungie to see "Here's something we as a community wants" or in the case my idea is just completely wrong, "Here's something we do NOT want".

  • That's a bit too elaborate of a system tbh. But perks should unlock and the player should have an easier time making the decisions over how they want to spec their character. Farming should still be a thing and you should still need to earn all the specs you want, but the limiting factor should never the chance. It should be based off of time and effort to reward the outcomes desired. Just let us earn the roll options for each weapon / armor and pay to collections to roll it as we want. Increase the usability of the game at the cost of in game materials (shards, ect). Re-balance PvP by allowing people to roll weapons the exact same as their counterparts if they so choose. Make people farm 20 'Dust Rocks' but not 2000, let the game be reasonable and enjoyable. Buy rerolls from Xur, now you've unlocked another option for your theoretical 'God Roll' exotic. No longer usless, just less useful. (lolz) It's much simpler to implement and allows players the same end result as your post. Please correct me if I'm miss reading your idea.

  • I couldn't get thru the text blinding to read every word. I feel like legendaries should drop empty with all perk slots and mod slots left up to player to fill. All perks and mods should be earned off of race specific activities. As well I feel like masterwork cores should be 1 a item to be equipped and should be powered up to active by excess motes of light. [Kinda like catalyst require powering up] As engrams are farmed by activity drops, mods and perks [parts] could be farmed as well and dropped by certain bosses or lackies. Be still a grind just maybe a little more control for the player and a little more pointfull.😃

    • I’d rather them just take Enhancement Cores out the infusion cost and just let us use them for Masterworking AND Re-rolling Weapon/Armor Perks. Bungie wants us to have to grind until our eyes bleed. That’s why the game is the way it is. I think a great compromise would be: - Remove Enhancement Cores from the cost of infusion. - 125 Enhancement Cores to Masterwork - 25 Enhancement Cores to Re-roll Perks A Masterworked item should be something really special and should come at a high cost. If it cost 1000 Enhancement Cores to Masterwork a complete set of gear, and then another 25 each time you try to re-roll, there would still be incentive to grind to get Enhancement Cores as well as RNG gear. I don’t know about you, but I put in a lot of time to get my Faction Rally Armor, Iron Banner Armor, Leviathan Armor, & Solstice of Heroes Armor for all 3 of my guardians. Then I tricked them out with awesome shaders. Then I worked on them to get them all Masterworked. But then came Forsaken and made all that armor basically useless. Just to infuse one set would wipe me out of Enhancement Cores, and my hard fought for armor doesn’t have any perks. It feels like I was punished for putting in so much effort. Let me at least infuse my old gear cheap since it’s not as useful as the new stuff. Or let me use Enhancement Cores to gain some perks on the old equipment.

      • I wouldnt call myself a hardcore player but I have around 2k hours in Destiny and I hate the fact that everything is tied to rng. Buildoptions depending on rng is just sad for this type of game. Why we cant reroll weapons and armor for for a high cost or even better choose what we want at the gunsmith for an even higher price is beyond me. With a good economy it would only add ro the grind while also providing goals for players who want the perfect gear and do not care about points or titles to show off.

Yeah, I igree with your point. RNG all over the place made me quit that game. And doubd they'll change anything. It seems since forsaken launched, they've changed their view on how the game should work: now it just eats your time like forever hungry monster. I've played kinda a lot since forsaken launched, also was runnin black armory. And so far I was plaing only one character. I'm tired and bored plaing only one class. But I cant hop on my other toons since they are undepowered, not geared atc... I'll have to do such a huge amount of same thing again. I'll be locked from the activity I want. For example, I was shocked when I found out I have to unlock all the forges again for my other toons. May be I'm too naive, but it was so natural for me to consider I can play any forge once I unloked it on any toon. But no...Go clear vanilla dangeons again...Do some weird crap like 70 fallen melee kills, grind dozens of items, kill hundred Vex...My head allmost explodes when I relise how many routine I have to do. So now I even afraid to launch the game with a different character, considering how many hours I'll waste on boring shit. And they up that light soon again.Jezz. And yes...Enchancements cores...We now need'em even to infuse gear. I kinda love the game. A pity that its core economy and leveling (FCK LEVELING!) mechanics made it so bad. The game doesnt motivates me to be good or learn some mechanics. Mostly it wants to be my second job. Well...if you pay me. Otherwise, I'm pretty mach done with dis.

          • I can get behind this. Just make it like AC Odyssey engravings where you have to unlock it then you can put it on your gear. And then they can go through and do some cool stuff like leveling it up or whatever to make things cheaper. However this would need to be a total endgame thing and I think the best way to introduce it would be a quest from Banshee that Ada helps out in.

            • It would be far easier if we had a forging capability where you had full control and you could just grind for the items which formed the currency you had to use cash them in and then build the armour piece ofr weapon you wanted

            • For me rng isnt the problem, in fact id like to see more of it, what we do need is more gun perks. That way there should be more 'god rolls' instead of just the one we are all looking for. I mean this game isnt made so every one has the exact same weapons and armour, at leadt it isnt intended to be that way, but sadly it does ferl that way right now.
