If they reset for D3...if D3 even happens, a flair item like an emblem or shader is all you should expect. Cosmetics only. Providing exclusive gear with good perks just because you played a previous version is no way to design a looter shooter that includes PVP. It's a new game, with new gear, and your status as previous iteration player does not entitle you to skip the grind and get around RNG.

We are not all equal. And think about the Solstice armor set that they allowed players to earn pre forsaken. Players who joined afterwords have no way to earn that armor set. And what about Redrix Claymore that’s an amazing achievement you can’t earn the original. Bungie has already introduced weapons and armor and it hasn’t broken the game. What I’m sayin is as we move forward, bungie should continue to do this with its veteran players. On top of that we have silver for cosmetics only correct. What I think would be good to introduce is a loot box that can be opened with silver and another obtainable in game material so that just by playing the game normally you get you access. So right now we have the cryptarch who allows us to buy legendary engrams right? And I’m saying let it also be purchased with silver. Give veteran players a reasonable amount of materiel or silver, to loot the chest/cryptarch or what ever options there could be, and make it just enough to get some decent gear from the starting moments of the game, and no I’m not suggesting pinnacle rewards here. People will appreciate this system far more and be able to spend silver on things that are more useful and no one will complain about getting an armor set and some weapons just like you get when you start a new character pre-forsaken and bump them up to level 30 you get some minor gear that is appropriate both in utility and power.

Silver? That's currency that you buy with cash. Now you're talking pay to win. No. D3 owes you nothing, nothing, for playing D1 or D2.

  • It can’t be pat to win if every one can earn it.and yeah I’m sure some rich guy or greedy kid could dump $200+ dollars into the game for some RNG gear that may be good or may be terrible. That’s a huge benefit to Bungie who right now is financially unsupported. They need new and improved ways to do micro transactions

  • Paying real money for a chance in game items that have a mechanical benefit is pay to win. It doesn't matter if everyone has access to it or not. Bungie has a $100m development contract with Netease. They're not hurting for cash. Your attempting to flip the script from "reward long time players" to "but Bungie needs money" is pretty telling though.

It’s all rolled into one. If you have ever played boarderlands they have this exact system in place and it was extremely successful. Call of duty has been using loot boxes for years and it also has been successful. All I’m saying is it isn’t going to break the game to give us multiple avenues especially if and let me highlight this, Paying for the loot box is optional no one has to do anything. And I’m going to be honest I’m not going to pay for it if they added this, why because I play the game enough that I don’t need to. Some people may feel that it would benefit them to do it regularly it really doesn’t matter. Because the only way any one gets pinnacle weapons is by grinding and doing quests. That’s how it always has been and always will be. Adding a loot crate isn’t going to offset the balance of power to people who have cash to burn.

  • Your absolutely right they don’t have to do anything but they still do
