D&D Diary: Entry 8

Back with my new characters. I mentioned they were going to be snake themed last time, but GM and I decided against that. I like my new characters though, they’re fun! Either way, let’s get to it. Long part is long. Day 1 Translated from Celestial (and Infernal) Our new family told us to start a journal of our thoughts and adventures so… Hello! They named me Lux and my sister Umbra! (Hey.) She doesn’t talk much. The first thing we remember is darkness (I remember voices too, but I couldn’t understand them…). Then there was a bright light and a loud BOOM! and we were suddenly falling from the sky inside of a rock! (That part was fun! The landing part…less so.) We smashed into this island, through the roof of someone’s home, and saw each other for the first time in the light of the moon! We’re both pale and have mismatched blue and green eyes (But her hair is white and her left eye is green) and her hair is black and her left eye is blue. We didn’t speak, but we heard each other’s thoughts in our heads: Who and what we are, why we’re here, why we knew a lot of random things like magic, what are these weird silver bracelets on our arms and why do they have runes for a bunch of different Gods, also why do we know the names of those Gods (and Demons, and Devils). Then we heard shouting and got scared (Was not!) and ran up the stairs to hide. From above we watched a lot of strange people enter. Their bodies were wrong…covered in scales, some had tails instead of legs, others had weird heads, and some even had tiny heads for hand. (They were normal once, but dark magic turned them into monsters.) They searched around the crater, hissing at each other in a language I couldn’t understand (I think it was Abyssal, but I also couldn’t understand them) then gathered the silver shards from our rock as well as a glowing white crystal (We could feel that crystal like we could each other. I don’t like them having it.) One of them was about to slither up the steps, but the largest of the monsters called it back and they left. Once we were sure they were gone, we searched the place for some clothes (One of the many random things we know. Clothes: Good. Naked: Bad), found a couple dirty old tunics, some sandals, (And two daggers!), and decided to leave. We poked our head out and only saw a few of those things walking (or slithering) around. A lot of the buildings looked like they were already falling apart so we didn’t feel as bad about breaking one of them (Why would we anyway? They’re all monsters!). We started sneaking up the street towards the large building on the hill (We could feel our crystal up there.) Then we heard shouting and stuff behind us and saw some other people entering the building we landed in (They killed the monsters so maybe they’d help us?). We ran back and tried to sneak in, but the tall lady, Maria with the two swords caught us. She looked mad and mean at first, then she looked surprised and a bit sad. She pushed us towards the center where the others were and we talked. The man they call Stubbles (who is almost as tall as us) asked us our name, we said we didn’t have one, then he asked about the rock that fell from the sky and we told him that was us and I apologized for making such a mess. Then the green devil, Timothy, made his eyes glow and told everyone that we “are bright with both Arcane and Divine magic.” (He feels like the snake monsters, but somehow different.) The other green one they call Gabby (who’s even shorter than the Dwarf!) and Stubbles then talked about a dream he had and asked if we were in it. He said no, but there was a glowing white crystal that he thinks is important. So, we told them that was with us in the rock, but the snake monsters took it, but we can still feel it and lead them to it. They talked a bit more, some of them were uncomfortable putting children in danger (Why? We’re taller than two of them and far more powerful!) But then more of those snake men showed up and we had to fight! It was over pretty quickly. Drahg, (Who is HUGE. I’d have to stand on Lux’s shoulders to touch the top of his head!) Maria, and the smiling man with the pointy ears (His name is Kenjin and I don’t trust him.) You don’t trust anyone! (Well I don’t trust him even more!) whatever, anyway they killed the monsters pretty fast. (I helped! I shot a ball of fire at one of them!) Oh yeah! When we hold hands our bracelets glow and we can do magic! After we killed the monsters, Gabby snuck over to the door and saw more patrolling the street. Stubbles cast a spell on us that made us all sneaky and we waited for them to pass before making a run for it in the opposite direction (Towards where we felt the crystal.) Along the way, Gabby paused at a building with three guards at the entrance and said it looked like an old Imperial vault. There was a debate about whether it was worth the effort and then us, Gabby, and Timothy waited across the street while the others snuck over and quietly killed the guards. The inside was probably really pretty once, but all the white marble had faded and cracked over time. The snake people don’t take care of their former homes anymore. There wasn’t anything interesting or useful in the main room, but the vault itself was full of piles of treasures! While the others stuffed their pockets and bags with coins and other shiny things, (Except Drahg. He waited by the door and kept watch.) Timothy asked us to stand behind him so he could scan the room with his glowy eyes. (He says we’re too bright.) As Maria approached a big mirror in the corner, he reached his hand out and tried to say something, but there was a flash of light and a POP! sound. Suddenly, Maria was rubbing her throat and started speaking, “How…” but she was interrupted by a giant furry monster slashing at her! (Werewolf! Victims of a curse created by the Great Wolf Hayden, God of the Hunt!) Everyone attacked the werewolf while we ran over to Maria and I healed her with my glowey hands. (Lux has healing magic and I can burn things. We’re pretty awesome.) She got back up, but said she felt really weak for some reason. The werewolf died pretty fast though. It put up more of a fight than the snake monsters, but we killed it before it could seriously hurt anyone else. After it died, it turned into a glowing mist and flew into Maria. Afterwards she felt better, stronger than before even! (Also, she can talk now. That’s pretty important.) Oh, I thought she was just grumpy, like you! (Rude.) Everything calmed down and Timothy and Gabby started handing out magic items. Gabby handed us a pair of cloaks, one blue and one green. (I took the blue one, I’m pretty sure its magical and the other is just a cloak.) I still feel more magical though… Everyone rested for a bit to catch our breath (And magically Attune to our new toys.) They also gave us our names here! Then set off again for the crystal. It felt like it was above us in the big temple on the mountain. As we made our way up the road, occasionally fighting off snake men (Timothy called them Yuan-Ti. Cursed by Eurbelis, the Goddess of Pestilence. She’s usually shown as a big snake lady with many arms.) We also passed by a lot of statues of scared people. Stubbles didn’t think they were always statues though, and he was right. When we reached the temple, there were a dozen more of the monsters, but they didn’t attack. They were bowing in front of the temple. Then a seemingly normal woman walked out of the temple and spoke to us in the common tongue, “The Oracle has foreseen your arrival and requests a meeting.” And before any of us could respond she disappeared behind the white columns. We talked about it for a bit and then Maria pointed out the worshippers hadn’t moved. They were turned to stone as well. So we decided to, “hear her out,” as Gabby said. (Gabby’s dumb.) Umbra and I held hands (To be ready to cast spell, not because we were scared!) as we entered the temple. It was all one long room lined with pillars that held up the roof. The center of it was open to the sky above (It was getting brighter. We had never seen the sun before.) In the center of the room were rows of benches with more people turned to stone. Most of them looked happy (The rest looked very scared.) all of them facing the large, desecrated statue of the sun Goddess Feriniel. A tall woman in armor with six bird like wings on her back. At the base of the statue was the Oracle standing in front of a throne and several other mostly human looking women. She wore a very pretty long white dress with golden bracelets on her ugly scaly arms and legs. (She also wore a veil across her face that also tied her snake hair behind her head. We could still see them poking up sometimes though.)

The Oracle pulled the crystal out of a bag and told us she’d seen every possible outcome of this encounter and decided to give us the crystal in exchange for killing her parents (Which were apparently right behind us on the columns above!). As she sat back in her throne, Umbra and I poured our power into casting a Haste spell on both Drahg and Maria just in time for the Oracles parents (Two really big snake people.) to drop down and attack from above! Timothy shot a ball of green magic at each of them and ducked out of the fray as one of them attacked Stubbles and wrapped around him. Drahg and Maria sliced it to bits almost immediately after. (Thanks to us!) The other one got Gabby pretty good, but Stubbles came to heal her while Kenjin fought the monster. Then I saw a large group of the other monsters coming up the road and looked at Umbra (And I smiled and threw a Fireball at them!) Then Timothy blocked the door with a creepy ball of darkness that made even creepier sounds. The other snake monster looked terrified (Can’t imagine why.) and shouted something at the Oracle before attacking Stubbles, and then the others quickly tore it to pieces. There were screams from behind us in the dark ball, so Umbra and I decided to pour a bit more of our power into healing both Gabby and Stubbles, and then we all prepared to fight off the remaining monsters. We fought the ones that managed to get through Timothy’s spell until it (And our Haste spell) ended. They just kept coming, they must’ve been really mad about us killing those bigger ones… Stubbles, Gabby, and Timothy went to talk with the Oracle while the rest of us (Especially Drahg and Maria.) rested on the benches. The Oracle was very pleased we had succeeded and gave the crystal to one of her attendants to bring to Stubbles. Gabby asked her why she wanted her parent’s dead, but the Oracle didn’t want to tell her story other than her parents were in control of the island and used her for her sight for centuries. She did give everyone a prophecy though (Except us. She apparently can’t see our future. Just like Stubbles didn’t see us in his dream…)
Stubbles: You can’t avoid your family forever, Dwarf. They will catch up to you. Soon. Timothy: You will find answers beneath a sea of sand. Maria: You should return home as soon as you can, dear. Kenjin: Your sister is alive and she walks a dark path. Gabby: They know. Drahg: You can drown the world in blood, but it won’t bring you peace.
After that, she told us to leave and promised the rest of the snake monsters would allow us to pass. We walked through the dead city as the sun rose, arrived at their ship, the Serenite, and now we’re sailing for some place called Stormcrown in Atamar! (Captain Kenjin is making us “swab the deck.”) So my new characters are Lux and Umbra, twin Radiant Aasimar Divine Soul Sorceresses! I was originally going to be the Medusa, but I kinda wanted to tone down the crazy...and then GM gave me the idea for the twin shtick, blame him. It's not that complicated, in combat they still count as one character for turns. They share spells, HP and stuff. They just take up two spaces next to each other for double the oh -blam!- I'm gonna die moments. Here's stats:
AC: 14 HP: 41 Sorcery Points: 5 Str (7) Dex (16) Con (14) Int (13) Wis (16) Cha (20) Feats and Stuffs: Darkvision, Healing Hands, Celestial Resistance to Radiant and Necrotic damage, Divine Favor: 2d4, Meta Magic: Twin Spell, Distant Spell Skills: Arcana, Religion, Persuasion, Insight Spells: Cantrips: Light, Spare the Dying, Mending, Thaumaturgy, Firebolt, Frostbite - 1st/4: Cure Wounds, Healing Word, Chaos Bolt -2nd/3: Prayer of Healing, Scorching Ray -3rd/2: Fireball, Haste
