By movement tech I mean Titan skating and warlock surfing.
This needs to be embraces because it allows for another layer of depth to the game. More engage/ disengage options (god knows destiny 2 needs more disengage options), more counter play, and it allows for good players to excel while also giving less skilled players to have another option.
Depth and complexity are very important when designing a fun gameplay experience, especially for a PvP experience. As a developer it is your goal to get as much depth as possible while using as little complexity as possible. Another way to think of it is the biggest bang for your buck where depth is the goods (bang) and complexity is your currency (buck).
Things like skating are such a good deal when it comes to this relationship between depth and complexity because it allows for all of the things I listed earlier, while also being extremely easy for the player to understand.
Another huge reason why it would be a good idea to embrace this is because if it doesn’t get embraced, it will get abused. It’s very similar to alcohol and marijuana in America. The government finally decided to legalize alcohol because then they could regulate it and keep it safe. If the same is done for skating in can be balanced and allow for a fun and fair gameplay experience.
Skating isn’t really a problem on console but I know lots of people who would love to have it back, and for PC players, this is something that desperately needs to be taken care of.
Obviously if it is implemented all classes would need some form of movement tech although in the case of hunters, our jump is already arguably the best so maybe instead of a raw speed boost it could be a way of taking advantage of our surroundings kinda like what we had with ceilings and bones of eao. Like we could boost off of walls and ceilings and shit like that while warlocks and titans got a straight up speed boost.
Please consider movement tech being woven into the natural destiny experience.

Totally agree, higher forms of movement would add a lot to the game.

You're true Gaurdian Angle! - old
As a Warlock main, I agree, but only if hunters can get some sort of ability to make them the fastest class (like they should be) or if not fastest, double down on their "swiftness" -
No, and PC Destiny shouldn't be used as an example for anything. It's barely the same game. Plus Bungie has already stated they are working on a fix for Titan skating on PC, but its complex, and hard to adjust without impacting the normal jumping operation. I would assume in the coming months Titan skating will go the way of the dinosaur(this is a good thing)

titan skating is an unfair exploit that literally requires scripts to do. if you think it should be kept in the game you’re deadass -blam!-.
-
Hunters should not be the slowest class in the game

Only if my Hunter can get a Grapple Hook.

What about hunter lagging?

It’s a first person shooter, not a fighting game.
