Game Feels Choppy (Especially in Patrol/Public Areas) Despite 200+ FPS

A few months ago I bought myself a pre-built system from iBuyPower. When I first started playing on it, it felt great since it was a huge jump from the last PC that I had but I'm only starting to realize now that my PC hasn't been running the way it should for the cost of my parts. The main game that I play is Destiny 2. I haven't tried any other games so I can't distinctly tell if it happens in all games or if it's just Destiny but I thought it was running great until I started watching twitch streams. I would play Destiny 2 on my PC for about an hour, start watching a twitch streamer playing Destiny 2 at 60fps and EASILY notice that his game was running 10x "smoother" than mine. I put smoother in quotations since I'm still not sure how to describe my issue except for the fact that my 200+ fps doesn't feel nearly as smooth as the way a stream looks and when I go on a website that is supposed to show a visual representation of 60fps, my game doesn't run like it. It's hard to describe when the sluggish feeling starts but it mainly begins when a lot is going on around my screen. The second I go to orbit or an area with barely anything going on, the game feels smooth again. I have the most issues at Mars. When I enter a new zone on Mars that is part of a strike or a lost sector then I IMMEDIATELY stop having issues. I might still be having small issues in these areas but it's hard to notice whereas it's very noticeable in patrol areas. Keep in mind that this sluggish feeling isn't just when I look around at an area. When it starts getting sluggish, it affects the menus and the speed of my cursor as well (inventory, character, friends,etc.). I normally run the game with a 200fps cap since if I play with unlimited then I get coil whine due to 500+ fps in menus; however, it happens without an fps cap anyways. Vsync seems to help a noticeable amount but even with vsync on I think I can still notice some sluggishness and I won't allow myself to use vsync due to the input lag. I've tried a million different things since this is my 3rd post at different places but I hope someone can give me a fix or at least explain what could be going on for me. My specs are: i7 8700k 3.7gHz GTX 1070ti 16GB DDR4 Memory in Dual Channel Z370-A Pro Motherboard 550W PSU (I think, not positive) 240GB SSD (Destiny 2 and Windows 10 Installed On) 1TB HDD Dual 60hz Monitors What I've Tried: -Reinstalled Drivers Using DDU -Reinstalled Destiny 2 -Used Repair Tool in Battle.net -Kept Temps Under 60C -Used The Hardware Troubleshooting On Windows 10 -Not Overclocking -Vsync -Capping fps To 60 Here's a link to the website that helped me realize that my game wasn't smooth: https://www.testufo.com/stutter#demo=smooth&foreground=ffffff&background=000000&pps=720

Unfortunately, its an ongoing issue that was first reported when the game was released. There is little promise of a fix, this forum is literally filled with threads mentioning the same problem. I myself have the same issue, and returning to Orbit immediately clears it up, but the issue starts again within minutes. I only play D2 in short bursts now as I'm sick and tired of exiting out the game. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249592417?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 Aside, you mention that you have 2 monitors, have you tried running just one on its own?

      • Your PC definitely sounds up to par to be running at Max settings, but something is generating enough client lag, that it's reducing your frame rate. Sort of like tge area behind the church I the glimmer drill event. I imagine something is going in destiny that's extremely unoptimized causing it. I'm not sure what but I hope it helps, does running shadows and quality make your frame rate increase when more stuff is going on?

        • Try capping the game to say 144 or 100
