This is a non-issue. Players that play regularly have 300 to 500 enhancement cores at this point.

I have near 250 cores. I have complete Dreaming City armor sets on all 3 toons, plus additional pieces for differing situations. I have probably 3 dozen fully masterworked weapons, not the curated rolls, very few of those I liked. I agree with Shadow on this. If you put an hour in the game every day, no excuse exists for you to not take two minutes and go visit Spider and buy 3 cores. If you did this, and only this during the 30 days leading up to the Black Armory dropping, you would have gained 100 additional cores. At a time when practically nothing else was going on in the game, other than finishing up Triumphs, and prepping for the new release.

  • Dude you need way more than 150 cores to keep infusing your gear. From 600-610 you will use up about 40-50 cores on infusing if you wanted to keep using your gear alone. You won’t be able to afford to keep doing this.

  • I’m above 610 on all three toons, with my highest weapons equipped. I’ve used zero cores as infusion. Zero. It costs zero cores to infuse same item to same item. I get more than enough Reverie armor to infuse my currently masterworked Reverie sets doing Petra’s weeklies. Weapons? I’ll use what drops for me at the highest level until my meta weapons drop to infuse. The reason you are broke wrt cores is bc you keep using more cores than you’re receiving. In any economy, anywhere, real world or gaming, if you spend more than you receive, you’ll go broke. It’s your choice to spend more than you have, there are ways to save and infuse, without spending cores.

  • Ohh and what about the people who have just started the game? What do you suggest they do when they don’t have 6-8k+ on legendary shards? Lol if bungie keeps this economy on infusing they will end up loosing players.

  • EVERY persistent world game ever created that has in-game economies and materials that have been hoarded for years, by veteran players, have ALWAYS put new entrants into that gaming world at a disadvantage. This isn’t new to Bungie. I wish in-game trading, amongst clanmates, materials only, were put in the game, but it’s been asked for years now, and no action has been taken. I’m sure it’s been discussed. So, my advice would be to buckle up your chin strap, new gamers to D2 have work to do to catch up to my 13,000 legendary shards. If I could trade/give some of them away to clanmates new to DestinyTheGame, I would. But, I can’t, so..., Start collecting, 1 shard/core at a time. Don’t use more in a week than you receive. It’s simple, not difficult.

Streamers trying to turn it into a living while others are trying to turn into a trophy, and have the nerve to tell everyone to accept it or leave. To be honest, I think you should leave because I don't see anything good coming from your mouth. Let alone, beneficial for this game.

  • I’m not telling anyone to accept it..., nor for anyone to leave, or stay, in all truthiness. Each person here can make up their own mind what’s best for them. What I’m saying is very simple. Masterwork cores have never been more available, and freely farmable. I have no intentions of leaving, either the forums, or the game. It IS a persistent and shared world game though. I’m not comparing it with any other game. In this type of persistent game, which Destiny IS, the ppl that have been around for years will have more materials than someone who just began yesterday. It’s not rocket surgery.

As I've said once before, this is Destiny we're talking about. Speaking of Destiny, you say mcs are availiable despite the fact that they are STILL tied to RNG and progression. This would be a false statement. If you're leveling up and don't have 300 cores sitting around somewhere, you are expected to pour your life and soul into a "hobby." And for what? More importantly: Why? Since you seem to know your way around the forums, there's been the matter of whether the change was needed in the first place. In fact, I can't seem to find anyone, sharing your outlook, who can provide a intelligent explaination detailing why infusion changed and for the better. Apparently, "it's not rocket surgery." So by all means, do tell.

  • I have no idea why Bungie decided to add masterwork cores to the infusion table materials list. In all truthiness, I don’t care. I rarely, if ever, have used masterwork cores for infusion and I can guarantee it’s the very, very rare occasion when I do. I infuse same item to same item, almost exclusively. Just by playing the game, I’ll get what I need to infuse, maybe not all of them overnight. But I can wait, and use my TigerSpite instead of my Nameless and my Badlander instead of my Trust HC, etc... If ppl choose to infuse their 607 Tiger Spite into their 600 ByGones instead of waiting for that ByGones to drop in Gambit, wasting their masterwork cores, then that’s on them. Not Bungie, or anybody else. I can buy 2 or 3 masterwork cores daily, per account. I can complete Spider’s Lost Sector Weekly Wanted on each character. It’s VERY easy to push 120 to 150 cores per month, doing absolutely nothing more than a few lost sectors and Spider bounties per week. These are fixed and not tied to RNG. Add in the rng drops and rng scrapper bounties, and cores are easily farmable, just by playing the game. It’s real simple, if I’m spending more than I’m taking in, I’ll go broke. There are ways to infuse without eating all of our cores up. It’s 100% individual’s choice.

This is a video game, NOT a health care plan. But benefits? To whom? Bungie? The casual gamer who plays an hour or two per week? The streamer who plays 8-12 hours a day? Large/Small clans? Lone Wolves? Only PvP’ers? Only PvE’ers? Other groups? Benefits would exist or not, and vary, inside all of those demographics. The benefit I’ve seen is an unending supply of masterwork cores, and all I have to do is logon and play.

  • Honestly, that's even more reason to remove them from infusion. If it's no cost to them maybe it would be best if it were no cost to anyone?

  • Daily playing for over 2 weeks, if you took the time to see Spider and buy 3 from him, daily, you would have an additional 42 cores. If you did his Wanted Bounties also, that’s an additional 3 for the lost sector bosses and 3 for the roaming bosses, each. Total of 60 cores, right there, doing nothing more than spending ten or fifteen minutes grinding for cores. Ppl don’t like to do it though. And then they complain when they don’t have any. lol. And all you have to do is go visit Spider.

  • Spend time farming cores and not doing the actual things in the game. Spend the time I do have acquiring cores...makes sense. It’s a good thing I looooove enhancement cores....I just can’t wait to logon and farm the crap out of those CORES!!!! Yes!

  • Once again, it’s all about choices. If you don’t want to farm for cores in anticipation of needing them to masterwork, or in the rare case of infusing, by all means don’t farm them. That’s on the individual, not the game. Some ppl want to play the game and have everything available instantly upon purchase, putting zero time in the game. Other ppl like grinding out quest lines and prepping toons in anticipation of upcoming releases. To each their own. I don’t have problems with differing styles of game play. I just point out how easy it is to get masterwork cores. It’s all about choices.

  • Individual choice then. That’s not the same as saying “cores are rare”. Because in all truthiness, they aren’t rare..., And you could use your first two minutes of login to go buy 3 per day. This is a shared and persistent game world, evolving over time, with in-game materials and economies that are necessary to advance our gameplay. If any guardian is unable to spend 2 minutes and buy 3 cores a day, then that’s on them and their choice/s. Not Bungie, or the game.

  • Doing some math, spending 70 legendary shards a day for a week to acquire 21 cores for the week, you would need 490 cores a week. If you get 3 legendary shards per legendary dismantle you would need to dismantle roughly 169 legendary items per week. Oh and still have legendary shards, like 10-30, available for each infusion. I dunno but that seems a little outrageous and as an in-game economy, RNG frustrating.

  • The number of posts on this forum wrt guardians receiving their 37th edge transit in one week is legion. Legendary shard shortages have rarely, if ever been brought up here. I’ve seen WAY more posts complaining of the over abundance of leg. shards and nothing to use them on. It is an economy though. If you can’t afford to buy 3 cores for 70 leg. shards per day, then buy 2 for 30 per day. At some point though, you do need to play the game, right? It’s not like this economy popped up overnight. We’ve all had months upon months to collect materials. If you’re new to the game, then you’ll unfortunately be at a disadvantage compared to someone who has been playing since D2 released. That’s just a harsh reality of all persistent world game environments, without trading. But still, it’s quite simple to sidestep using cores for anything other than masterworking. Don’t use cores to infuse, ever, if possible. Infuse only same items to same items or dead exotics down. You won’t use cores, it’s not complicated. Do your 3 weekly lost sectors from Spider on each toon. Then you have a consumable that drops cores, and scrapper bounties, and then partially masterworked gear that breaks down into a core and leg. shards. Masterwork core numbers aren’t the issue here, spending them like they are going out of style, is the issue.
